They did, in fact, teach English, but not that book. That would have made the universe implode on itself due to the weight of the irony.

I have family that works as a Labor and Delivery RN. The worse name they have seen was La-a. You pronounce it as La Dash A. The mother kept getting super upset when people pronounced it as "La a"

I was just introduced to a handy website that tells me what streaming services host which movies. None of the ones I want to watch are on Netflix. Why do I still have a subscription to this?

I've been asking myself this a lot lately, aside from Netflix making some really awful calls in response to the Chappelle crap. Some of their original content is interesting, but I will literally never watch most of it.
TBH, I mostly have Netflix as a one-stop repository of a lot of the older shows I enjoy (mainly old versions of Star Trek). If they ever drop Star Trek from their lineup, I will likely let the account lapse.

@ganymede Just season 5 of She-Ra at this point, honestly, and I wonder if I need to keep paying for access to that because it's not like every minute isn't seared into my brain at this point.

I usually get a bit exasperated with the sponsored ads on Facebook because they're a constant reminder of how much personal data they're blatantly selling, but today I got a solid chuckle out of one.
It was a company that buys old junker cars, with a big "CLICK HERE FOR AN ESTIMATE" link button, but the comment thread is filled with over a thousand people just...describing their car (???), and asking for an estimate right there in the thread. Some of them include a picture (as if that will help), but most don't. It is one of the first times I have ever seen so many people become the living embodiment of that famous commercial.
"uh yeah it's a 92 Honda accord, got some scratches and dents, the trunk won't open. How much will you give me."
Lol. I do feel bad for the poor person running the social media account who has to copy and paste the same directions to click on the link to the website literally just above them a million times a day.

Samantha wasn't a popular, common name and seen as an odd one until Bewitched came out. Names develop, morph and change, move in trends, and always have.
Oh, no, a name has a spelling you haven't seen before. So what? What does it matter, aside from trying to make a child feel bad? What does it matter, aside from the criticism often carrying racist and classist undertones?
Inka, Uwe, Vercingetorix and Gaius are not common English names. Jack is a corruption of John which is a corruption of Jonathon which is a corruption of Yehonatan.
