Pokemon Go

@Arkandel So, a lot of people who are very high level and have very high level and rare pokemon use GPS spoofers. Some people even load an android rom on their computer, then sit at their desk and walk around a very popular area (say, Santa Barbara) and just scoop everything up. You can then control your GPS location via keyboard, and just forwards backwards left right and move around town.
In my area, there are a few gyms, but most seem to be held by pretty weak pokemon and pretty weak teams. So, even if you have a CP 1000+, my team of six weaklings will still win. Then the gym loses prestige or whatever, and then no one can stock it up with a full team, and no one can hold it.

why would you do that
wtf is wrong people
Well.. it IS Florida. So.. there's that.
-
I will say that Niantic is very very very against spoofing. The instant they find out, you are banned and it's for life. No coming back, ever.
So like most new games... They'll improve tools for finding the cheaters and oust them.
-
@Auspice The way - and reason - I play the game is still the same as Ingress; it gives me something to do while I walk or hike.
The idea of spoofing it is, to me, absurd because if I'm at my PC there are many (many!) far superior games I could be playing - why bother with Pokemon Go unless I'm outside?
-
People like to cheat.
See every game, ever.
It's biology.

I am lucky to hold a gym for a few hours.
What the hell is with those monstrous Pokethings up in gyms, where are they coming from? I saw a 3200 (!) fucker up on a gym the other day, too many are well in the 2500+ range.
Meanwhile I'm playing quite frequently, I've spent dusts and candy upgrading/evolving some of my Pokemon and the highest one I have is... 1550?
The more you level up, the more you'll continue to catch stronger and stronger Pokemon until level 30. Then it levels out (so far). So you can spend as much as you want at level 15 to evolve or upgrade your Pokemon, someone at level 25 can just catch a Pokemon far above your upgraded little guy by chance. I'm only 22 and just last week I caught one that was 1363. So if I spend just a little to level it, it would quickly get up there with your highest in just a few levelings. I've seen as high as level 29 in my area so I can only imagine they are catching Pokemon in the 2k area consistently and leveling the best up to 3k+.

I feel that Night Terrors was made for @Cobaltasaurus and @Insomnia.
Never look in the toilet reservoir. You don't. Want. To. Know.
-
Not me! I know you never go in the bathroom in a horror game. Ever.
And I don't actually have a cellphone.

What.
no.
-
Niantic is doing a big, massive ban of people using spoofers, bots, etc.
Cue follow-up "articles" of butthurt-dom in 3... 2..
-
how do you even spoof this game?
-
If people can cheat, they will.
ETA: Meanwhile in Florida Pokemon Go players are being stalked by a clown.

Relatively easy, actually.
Download an Android emulator.
Install PokemonGO.
Enable location/GPS spoofing (debug type tools).
Login to your PGO account, use the tool to 'walk around.'The tools exist for developers, but people use 'em to cheat. The only time I've ever used them was back then Foursquare was a popular app and I liked the look of a badge they had just for checking in at SDCC that year. So I location-spoofed my 4sq login to get it. >.> Ahem.

Although I can understand why they had to cover their asses with "you're going too fast! are you a passenger?" the implementation leaves something to be desired.
I've been told I'm going too fast on the following occasions:
- Stopped at the traffic lights... as a pedestrian.
- On the bench between sets at the gym
- On the toilet (don't judge me)
Come on, Niantic!
-
POOP SLOWER
-
Tip: if you can hold a gym for 21 hours (enough to get through the cycle and get the 10 coins) don't collect right away. Instead, drive around and get in all the gyms close to you. Once you have as many as you can legit hold quickly, then collect. You'll get all the coins.

I got my 10km egg hatched tonight. Got an Electabuzz out of it. And catching an extra Ratatta pushed me over the hump into the land of level 11. I am happy despite the fact that leveling up did not get me any incenses.
-
Finally caught a goddamn Abra.
Almost level 17.
-
@Auspice Abra was weird for me. For some reason every time it'd escape and poof after the first catch - I never got a second shot at it.
Then I caught it once, followed by like five more catches within a couple of weeks.
