Was anyone else annoyed but he second season of Black Butler? I think the whole series ended perfectly after the first.

I wasn't overly fond of the second season. I thought it was pretty awesome, mind, that Ceil ended up a demon with that season.

I've never actually seen black butler, but apparently there are rumors that another season is coming out here shortly...

so.. maybe things will change, who knows?

I watched the first season. It was pretty clever and funny, but I don't think I ever picked up on the second season.

I hope there isn't a third season of Black Bulter. It's awesome as it is. Sometimes adding another season can kill a good show.

Adding another season can kill a good show sometimes.

Having no more seasons will kill a good show every time.

Why would it kill a good show to have no more? If something goes out on a good note it's not 'dead' but something people remember fondly and want to watch again. You add a season when it feels like a complete show it just makes people not really into it, no? THus, it gets killed over staying interesting.

A show is dead when they make no more episodes of it.

Being good or bad has nothing to do with it.

Our definition of 'a dead show' is clearly different.

I'm kind of with Admiral here.

If you think the ending of Season 1 of Black Butler was perfect, and anything more would ruin it for you, don't watch any of the seasons after that. You can rewatch season 1 as much as you want and enjoy it for as long as you want. If the knowledge that somewhere out there, there are more episodes that would ruin what you like about it, that you don't have to watch is itself enough to ruin the show for you then it says more about you than about those episodes.

If, on the other hand, you saw the last episode of Season 1 and thought "Man, this can't be how it ends, I can't wait to see what's next." then there not being anything next is likely to suck for you.

I personally prefer to err on the side of More Episodes Is Better, if only because it's the only scenario where both types of people can get what they want out of the show itself. The first can stop watching if they feel like a good ending has been reached, the latter can keep watching to their heart's content.

Tastes vary pretty wildly, and it's pretty rare for continuing a show to make everybody unhappy, so even if I'm not so into or even dislike a new season, I don't think I've ever really thought that I wish they'd never made it, or lost interest in the stuff about it I did like. I still rewatch early stuff that had later stuff that didn't do it for me. More to the point, there are a few shows I watch the later episodes or seasons for where the initial stuff didn't do it for me. An opportunity I wouldn't have if they'd skipped out on it.

I'm a completionist of sorts. I can't leave something unwatched/read once I've invested in it. So, I'll probably watch the new season of Black Bulter if they do make a new one. I just might not watch the series again if it is ruined for me.

They are doing a live action Black Butler. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Fun? What is this fun thou speakest of?

Can you point a foreign pirate in the vague direction of where he may find this particular booty, lass?

I'm not sure where to find it now -- the roomie got a pile of promo discs of it to show at an anime room -- but I'll ask him when he's back home. He'll definitely know. Netflix has it, though they're apparently missing one of the discs.

Kinda late reply, but I found this pretty easily on YouTube. I've just started watching and it. Is so. GREAT.

Some things I'd like to second the recommendations on are JoJo and Gundam Build Fighters (particularly if you're a fan of Gundam as a mecha series, and want one that doesn't have a huge war focus).

                              Others I could recommend...

Turn-A Gundam: Kindof a 'future mindfuck' series, meant to essentially unite all Gundam franchise (barring a couple outliers) under more-or-less one timeline, with room for liberties to be taken. The concept behind it is very solid, it's very well animated and well written.

Log Horizon: People transported to the fantasy world of a not-VR MMO that they play, and find that they still have system limitations and system access (like menu windows). The series mixes MMO crazy like raids and PKing with a living world, and focuses on a lot of the society that builds up around the Adventurers (the players trapped in the world).

Record of Lodoss War/RoLW: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight: Want to watch D&D the anime? This is your series. You need to watch the 13 episode OVA before you watch CotHK, or it won't make sense.

Parasyte: For you gore and body horror fans out there, there's a recent adaptation of the Parasyte manga with modernized character designs. It's quite good though.

Terra Formars: Attempts to colonize Mars result (somehow) giant neandertal humanoid cockroaches, and the colonization attempts must destroy the enemy, using genetically-modified soldiers that have animal powers (primarily insects, but a few birds and fish and mammals). The series is action and politics, as the various countries of the overpopulated Earth try to gain advantage through the mission.

On the note of Sentai, if you want to watch a couple of good ones, try out Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (pirates) and Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (high-tech spy-kinda-ish theme). Both were very enjoyable to me.

Terra Formars- Anyone notice that there are no black people/people from Africa on the team to mars? And that the cockroaches look like stereotypical ape black men? Who are apparently unable to create their technology but are able to easily steal and reverse engineer the advanced nations technology for their own ends? Eh..

... yeah, Japan has some interesting ... attitudes towards foreigners at times.

I liked Hellgirl and Higurashi. They were pretty dark though. Also, if you subscribe to Crunchyroll, you now get their manga subscription rolled in. Hooray!

@silentsophia: Japan is terribly racist. That doesn't make the overall plotline terrible though.

I haven't thought about Higurashi (or Umineko, by the same author) in quite some time. I found Higurashi quite interesting (and it led me to read a bunch of the manga, which tell a variety of sequel, side and what-if stories based on the various aspects of the series).

The last thing I read before I stopped reading was "Black Butler", which i know was suggested to me. Which I won't watch because I don't like the art style.

Are there any other suggestions that have been suggested that have that art style?

@Admiral No. I was reading the slapfight between @HelloRaptor and @Kireek for a while, and then when that died down I was skimming and my eyes caught on 'Black Butler' and I remembered that I won't watch it because I don't like the art style.

Slapfights over anime are always fun to read. I also enjoy gouging out my eyes with hot pokers.

Madoka Magica and Welcome to the N.H.K. are the only ones on my list I'd say are 'required viewing'. Both are pretty awesome.

I've yet to meet anyone who didn't like the former, and the latter had me almost in tears.
