I played Andromeda for a few hours, like... 3?
Then I never felt the motivation to load Origin to play it again so it was just a huge waste of money and hard drive space. It just lacked whatever it is that makes me actually find a game worth playing.

So, anyone who uses the Steam Link app on Android to play Steam games on your phone, it no longer requires a hardware controller as of the just-released version v1.1.110, at least provided you're using the beta version of the Steam client.
(I know, I know, no one else here uses it, probably.)

Mythic 0 group comment: "MINIMUM 330 ilvl"
Actual code ilvl requirement to join: 311 ilvl"Sure enough the leader's gear was at 311. Nice try, buddy.
-
@arkandel
I saw today someone was offering PRO MYTHIC RUNS 5000g each.And I laughed. And laughed. And laughed.
-
@jaded In two weeks 340 gear will be nothing. I don't get this weird greed.
And did you see this?
-
This kinda shit's been going on for over a decade in WoW and other MMO's. New Gear means some people will pay top dollar for any advancement, even if it will be obsolete in less than a month. Also the group leader with low ilvl recruiting for a group with high ilvl to carryt hem is classic. Hell i did that shit back in the day. I mean as long as yer open about it.
That toll thing is hilarious and probably should be reported. I would report the fuck out of it.
Wow, sometimes i miss you, but i wont go back.
-
And this is why I don't play MMOs.
-
@wretched
What's funny is going into a mythic under-geared and out DPSing some of the people in better gear than me as a tank.I have not seen that toll shit going on but that is...well that's fucked up.
-
Double Post:
Do you like My Time at Portia? Do you like cute fuzzy animals?
How about both?!
Really this...this amuses me to no end. I played the Demo, its interesting.

People are insane about efficiency based on what they read online. I get everyone wants fast runs but this is mythic0; it's hardly challenging content at all. For example everyone wants paladins and priests for reasons that have nothing to do with that difficulty level; they are rated they way they are in top guild/player posts because of the extra utility they bring, extra damage, strong survival cooldowns, etc... which are completely unnecessary for what we're currently doing.
The only specs who don't care about any of this atm are tanks. I'm pretty sure if I queued up as a tank even at 20 ilvls lower than I am I'd get instant groups. Which I actually would do if people weren't absolute shits to tank players in PUGs.

Riot games sucks and it's really disappointing to me, because I put a lot of hours and a lot of money into their game. If things I love could stop letting me down that would be great.

What'd they do now?
There's a reason I refuse to put money into that game.

I've got a friend who worked at Riot as a programmer. She described the behavior of people at Riot as being the 'norm' in various companies she's worked at, though not to the same degree as at Riot. The only one she never described in that way was EA, which was described as basically 'faceless workers in cubicles, grinding out their existence.'

Ah. yeah. I have a friend who worked at Riot for a while. She was not pleased.

I think the best part of that article is the data that gamers who receive complaints about their behavior are also terrible to work with.

Space Marine is free at humble today. It is super fun.

@ganymede I never got the hate for Andromeda, it was a different story and not even a bad one. The only beef I ever really had was all the NPC's looking the same for the Asari.
I actually liked Andromeda, and will likely do another play-through. I enjoyed the Kett and the Revenant stories -- some people complained of a lack of diversity of alien species but I think they were missing that Andromeda was set in one sector and not the whole galaxy. If you read the lore on the galaxy map/exploration in prior ME games, very rarely are more then one or two sentient species really active in a particular sector.
I had basically two main complaints: 1) Yeah the Asari, and 2) the worlds.
You had the desert-with-radiation, the desert-with-acid, the desert-with-heat, the ice world and the jungle world. I know the story says these worlds shouldn't be nice and I get it, but why couldn't there be just one desert world and the other two have broken down into weird ways-- like the first earth/human planet you landed on was weird?
Anyways I don't know why I feel the urge to defend Andromeda so long later when I avoided it for the most part when the game was actually out and receiving all the criticism.

I didn’t like Andromeda because the story was bland. Even ME3’s story was strong and impactful, while ME:A’s story had enough plot holes to drive the Migrant Fleet through.
More specifically, they broached ideas that they didn’t seem to know how to follow through on. The one storyline that had teeth was the Krogan, but they were some kind of alternate universe Krogan with a homogenized culture.
Like DA2, I didn’t feel that ME:A was about anything. It’s story was stronger than DA2’s, but that’s like saying this sheet of paper is stronger than a used toilet wipe.
Andromeda was okay as a video game, but it failed as a Mass Effect game. The only hope I have is that the creator of the series says he would very much like to get back to it some day,
-
@thenomain
Casey Hudson is now the Studio Director at BioWare Edmonton. The man is a giant, unbearable douchebag. Trust me. I worked there. He and Mac Walters* are the ones solely responsible for the craptacular ending of ME3. They literally walked into a room by themselves and came out with that flaming wreck and would not listen to anyone who told them it made no sense.So. Are you suuuuuure you want him back in charge?
I can tell so many stories about the ins and outs of the drama behind the Mass Effect games.
*ETA: And Preston Watamaniuk, but as my husband says, it was mostly just Casey.
-
I still think ME3 would've had a more interesting ending if they went with Simulation Theory; the universe of the Mass Effect trilogy was a simulation, thus everyone was synthetic life; the program was to run various civilization models, and the Reapers were the code that every so often came through to wipe it clean on a cycle and see what happened with the remains of those civilizations as the 'seeds' for the next ones. And so the Crucible would've let you reach out to try to convince the entities who were running the simulation to let this round of civilizations live.
I mean, it wouldn't necessarily have been a good ending, but it would've been an interesting one.
