@Arkandel Fallout 4 is every other 1st person Fallout
You are in-sane. FO4 has nothing on FO:NV, and I don’t think it’s story is as good as (fixed) FO3.
FO4 is a railroad adventure in an open world. Or: See the Zero Punctuation review on it.
The base building is fun for that kind of thing, tho.

Just in the mem-brane.
I don't think Fallout 4 was as good as 3 or NV, but I'm kinda waiting for something new from Fallout, yanno? I'm ready for a Fallout-type game that isn't a rehash of "leaves vault, explores landscape, decides whether or not to join the Brotherhood of Steel".
IMO Fallout needs to expand or end.

A whole bunch of Pokémon Sword and Shield / Gen 8 reveals today! A couple of new Gen 8 Pokémon revealed! The legendaries for the Galar region revealed! Dynamax (giant) Pokémon! Multiplayer cooperative battles, where you can meet up with your friends and battle together instead of as opponents!

Gameplay reveal trailer, as well as the general game information page with new information and a longer version of the above gameplay trailer.

(Look, there's a special place in my heart for games falling into the "RPG I can carry in my bag and play in short bursts throughout the day, but could also play for hours on a plane" category; the Pokémon games have long dominated that particular spot, though admittedly the Fire Emblem games also often wander into that bucket.)
Not sure if you saw the other Pokémon announcement, but Pokémon Home will be released in 2020. It's a new cloud storage program for the Switch that will work with Pokémon Bank (Generation I-VII) as well as Go/Let's Go. So, full unification of all games.

They do. But I just found out that the Collector's Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 won't be available in the U.S.As far as I could tell last night, the PC Collector's Edition won't be.
PS4 and XBox will be. My guess on that front is that so far, the PC edition in the US is digital-only and being issued out by Steam and GOG who don't do physical copies of stuff.
So, well, I'll buy it for PS4. Problem solved (for me at least).
But yeah, I had no problem pulling up the pre-order page for the PS4 Collector's Edition last night on GameStop (not that I CAN pre-order it yet, but it's there).
Yeah, did my pre-order yesterday (Monday) online. GameStop isn't taking physical pre-orders in the store; it's all via website and shipped to your house.
Also, it's pretty much all but confirmed that Keanu is playing Johnny Silverhand in the game. Some are even speculating it's Keanu singing on that Chippin' In audio track.
-
@Runescryer
Well Keanu did have a band in the 90s that did a lot of touring. He could be the vocals on some of the music. So the Twitter for Cyberpunk 2077 last night said the company was going to backpedal on their Collector's Edition release and it will become available in the U.S. for PC owners, they're still checking for Canada.
-
@Jaded Good. Hopefully, this means that they'll (CDPR) will open up their new merch store to the US as well. Mostly a shipping thing from what I understand.

And, capping off E3....
SquareEnix's Avengers game

And, they're saying that future characters and expansion DLC will be free.

I'm legit kind of loving the reaction to Ikumi Nakamura presenting her game (Ghostwire: Tokyo) at E3. Instead of people being horrible towards a woman in gaming, everyone seems to just adore her and her enthusiasm. I haven't stumbled across anyone saying anything bad or commenting about whether she's attractive or not, etc. (I'm sure it's out there somewhere, because humanity, but I haven't had it end up in my face as usual.)
And there's been some really touching observations about how with Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, The Evil Within) retired from directing games, the way he came out and introduced his protege to everyone was kind of a symbolic passing of the torch.
I didn't watch the presentation, but just seeing the reactions around the net has been weirdly refreshing.

Ghostwire would've been more interesting if they showed actual gameplay.
In fact a lot of the games I saw during the press conferences would've been more interesting if they had shown actual gameplay.
Trailers mean nothing.

@Testament said in General Video Game Thread:

Trailers mean hype. Which is what the game industry currently runs on.
Not actual gameplay.
-
@Tempest Trailers do mean something - they mean money. It's very expensive to create cinematic ones, and that translates to investors' expectations on returns for that.
Obviously they can try to trade hype for early sales but early bad reviews and word of mouth will kill games really fast - they are not like, say, movies where an enormous chunk of the total revenue is due to the first weekend.
Clearly I'm not saying it's a definitive correlation but there is something there. If you buy a super expensive marketing toy for your product it means you're expecting it to do well.

I am going to hold off on being excited about the Avengers. It's unfinished, but looks dated and looks like it's nothing special. Hopefully more details will come.
-
@Ghost Or you can play Marvel Ultimate Alliance, soon released for the Switch!
I love Gauntlet games.

This. The idea of a good Avengers game fills me with joy, but so far this hasn't set good expectations.
Now Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3 and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 looks like they will obtain my monetary support.
-
I would love to be excited about Cyberpunk 2077, but it is way too far off for me to even think about. 10 months? That's excessive for a pre-order for me. Though in the days of people funding a game before its even made, I guess it isn't that long.
Also, to me, the Avenger game doesn't look great at all. What I've seen so far has been pretty meh. Not only does it look dated, but the generic likenesses are super cheezy. Good luck with that one. I don't anticipate it breaking any records. Not good ones, anyway.
And the Oculus Quest has proven to be crazy fun. And a good work out. I got Vader Immortal and the lightsaber training is very fun. The story mode lasts about 5 seconds, but just lightsabering training droids and blaster bolts in a cord-free virtual environment has been hours and hours of sweaty fun. It does use all the space around you so you do have to (get to) turn around and watch out for attacks from behind. Lightsabering is not as physically intensive as boxing, though. Boxing in Creed and the training that goes with it really takes work. Loving it all around. VR games don't tend to have a very long story, but I guess the value is mostly in training high scores and multiplayer modes.

Guys, nobody is talking about the MOST IMPORTANT THING, which is that Final Fantasy VIII is being remastered.
-
Nothing is more important than Cyberpunk 2077.
It is everything.
It is my lifeblood.
(But this is the cyberpunk writer here talking. I can't help myself.)
-
@Roz Are they going to make it into a playable RPG where levels and stuff matter, or are they going to leave it as a festering pile?
-
@Admiral get BACK satan
-
@Roz Squaw was the worst protagonist of the series. He makes Tidus (Played brilliantly by Meg Ryan, by the way) look awesome.
