@Auspice -- It doesn't hit me super hard on its own, fortunately. Like, it's pretty much just enough to make my brain stop working quadruple time in its attempt to race toward panic and be generally acceptable levels of nervous about things that should make me nervous. (Like job interviews.)
In this case, I was on klonopin, my usual allergy meds, AND some kind of Sudafed-Nyquil-make-my-nose-work-again medicine because I had a cold. The three combined pretty much made me epic levels of out-of-it stupid. It was terrifying at the time because I was convinced I had somehow ruined my entire life, but looking back on what I do remember of my conversations in the security office.... it was honestly pretty funny. Those poor employees were probably nine kinds of o_0 at my rambling, and even more so when I just gave up on trying to make sense and started ugly snot-crying.

I am sort of baffled by the stuff I hear re: klonopin.
I had a doctor try me on it once and it might as well have been a sugar pill. I had absolutely no response to it. But other people talk about it like @Aria. Like it hits them super hard.
This is me with Oxy.

...was absolutely there for two days, re: 'wtf is going on?' medication.
Codeine (in any form) makes me aggressive, hyper, moody as fuck. (Hydromorphone can go die in a fire; it does all of that and makes me either awake for 3 days in a row or only awake 2 hours a day, I lose any and all sense of balance, spend a lot of time blankly staring at walls, and it gives me a migraine the whole time. WTF, demon pill?!) The only thing that doesn't seem to have a nasty-ass side effect is ye olde actual morphine, which, yeah, if you're in the hospital, sure, but they are not gonna send that shit home with you. (Nor should they, IMO.)
Minor surgery 2 weeks ago. 1x100mg vicodin x 6-8 hours. Irritable as hell, sleep's all over the map, but nothing dies and nobody (that I am aware of) is in need of a horrified apology.
Slightly less minor surgery Monday. It suggests 2, every 4-6 hours. Notice the detail that's missing here? So did I. And this shit hurts, so I was taking two, though I was taking two every 8 hours, because I did not want to risk becoming Satan incarnate.
Yeah, that detail was kinda relevant, though, because what I hadn't noticed was that each of these was 300mg. So we're talking 'six times the bitchyface'.
It was a very colorful two days before I figured this out, that's really all there is to say about that. I do not even want to know what I may have typed in various messengers or emails, since apparently my mother is so horrified by an argument we had that she isn't speaking to me -- and I do not even remember speaking to her. At all. And I am getting the 'you know what you said!' routine so I do not even know what I'm supposed to be groveling about or apologizing for, and I feel bad and have attempted to do so, but she literally will not tell me what the hell I said that was so upsetting. (It wouldn't be profanity or snark, either, because while she'd always chide my father for using crude language around me when I was a kid, I absolutely learned to snark and swear from her! So I am at a genuine loss here.)

Same. Rarely, rarely, percocet will get me into 'sit and stare at the wall in a daze' but not generally.
Ambien used to work, doesn't anymore. Trazodone doesn't work night-of, but leaves me feeling drugged the next day.
I hate my body's resistance.

Good news and good news!
Last night I did some rough math and have about $100 of wiggle room during the move itself. Between the cost of the truck, the stuff I need (for the cat, the snacks/drinks I'm buying ahead of time to limit food stops, etc.), gas, the one motel night... I over-estimate costs, so hopefully it'll be more. But right now? $100. That's a buffer. That's still enough to get groceries. And I get paid the following week. And my first month's rent is low, due to the move-in deal.
So it's not bad, but it's def. in the range of 'hopefully I have no emergencies' and 'thank god someone got me a AAA membership'
But!
I was changing my address on my secured credit card and found out they upped my credit line! Now I tend to treat this thing as a 'forget it exists.' The line has been low because shite credit and all and during this whole 'moving' deal it's been needing to use it for things like doctor visits and meds (which I have a lot of and are expensive) and I've been unable to pay off the full amount each month. So in the back of my head it was 'last desperate resort so long as it's a cheap emergency'But! Now I've got a bit more available there. Still not a lot (because secured credit), but more. I'm gonna use some to get a haircut this weekend. I count that as important because my hair contributes to my headaches/migraines, which is sort of an important thing to consider when driving 8-10 hours a day.
-
The initial 'Woo, yeah, move!' is wearing off and/or I'm having one of those weeks where my meds just aren't quite good enough.
Gotta love chemical depression.
All I wanna do is curl up in a corner of the closet under a blanket.
-
Today the barbell wouldn't move, someone must have glued it to the floor.
But now the fun part begins. Okay gravity, you took your best shot... it's my turn.
-
Good news: pretty sure the interview I have today is gonna land me the job. Which will pay way better than the job I have now, with real legit benefits and errything.
Bad news: the hours would have me starting before buses are running. I'd have to figure out a car. I've already started the legwork. Seems to be coming down to needing $1k down payment (I don't have) or a co-signer (family won't do). Gonna try talking to places about leasing next.
-
Someone has suggested to me:
So, the hours would be 4a-1pm.
And my worry has been: I ain't gonna find an Uber(/Lyft/Fasten) at 3:30a. Just not gonna happen. But mebbe I could find one at like, 1am. The office is open 24/7. They have shit like a gym, music room (the office used to be EA Sports and instead of dismantling the recording studio, they set it up for employees to use), etc...
So I could just go in super early, work out, hang out, etc., for a few hours.
-
No public transportation, I'm guessing?
-
@Auspice That sounds like a great excuse to work out, too. "I had to, it's for work!"
Plus you might socialize with your other coworkers who also come in early. Win/win.
-
Probably not at those hours. Most transit doesn't start at 3:00am.

What @Sunny said. I'd be working 4am-1pm. I'd have public transit home from work, but not getting to work. I already checked bus schedules and yeah, last buses in Austin are around midnight/1a and don't start again until around the 6a-8a windows.
-
@Auspice Another option is carpooling after you get to know some people you'll be working with. Paying for half the gas does wonders.
-
@Auspice Used vehicle.
You can get a solid round the town beater for a fair price rather than trying to do anything from a dealer. Craigslist. local newspaper classifieds, etc.
Give that a shot.
Certain vehicles like Honda Civics, Toyota Camry's, hell even a Ford Focus are still more than viable at 100,000 miles so long as they had the oil changed regularly. Sure might need shocks and strucks soon, but thats something you can build towards.
They also tend to get great gas mileage too.
Just a thought.

I am looking at used vehicles, but through dealerships.
I have zero monies right now, right after moving.
Generally people selling their cars want, y'know, all the monies up front.
So if someone wants $5k for their car, they want all that $5k right the hell there.
If I can't get $1k for a down payment, I, uh, am not gonna be able to give someone $5k for their used car. -
@Auspice That's what I meant. You can get a beater for round the town stuff for between 500 to 1000$. Other thing you can do, is try to get a personal loan and use the money from that. They'll give anyone a loan when it's at 39% interest rate...
-
My current job cut my hours (again. hence the added scramble for a new job). I'm currently sitting at 'I need every dime I have.'
Like, my plan was: get new job, ride public transit for a while, save all the extra monies, get car with healthy downpayment.
I don't have even $300 lying around spare. Any beater I'd get would cost me more in just getting it to function than it'd be worth for the cost of registration, insurance, etc., I imagine. Like there's a fine line between 'vehicle get' and 'why did I sink everything I had into this oh god.' I'm trying to avoid the latter.
I did just put in for a vehicle loan with the credit union I have. We'll see. Maybe they'll surprise me.
-
@Auspice In that case, just try getting a generic personal loan for about 3 grand, you can get a solid car for 2 to 3 grand that shouldn't require a ton of additional stuff in it just to last... problem is the interest is through the roof on those unfortunately.
-
First loan attempt was shot down, but only because that credit union is in another state and all.
I don't have a bank here in TX yet. I need one, but I dunno who to go with, tbh. Anyway!
I think the interview went well. #1 and #3 did for sure. Well, #3 was just benefits overview with the recruiter and I got flirty vibes off of him, so I think he just likes me. Ahem. >.> But I also doubt he has any say if I get hired or not.
But interview #1 was with the Director and one of the team managers. #2 was with one of the team managers and a senior manager. I think #1 going well of the two is the one I wanted. The only reason I think #2 didn't go as well is the senior manager really threw me for a loop with one of his questions ("What was a project without any goals or deadlines at a job and how did you approach it?").
