@Thenomain Oh, I've read quite some conspiracy theories on it so far.
It was put right there. If you put something right there, then not doing something with it, is digging up Chekhov's body and tent-pegging it with his own gun.
-
On another less fun note, there is rumor going around that there won't even be a sequel anymore, just some DLC, which blows.
I liked the game even with it's flaws and every Asari but one having the same fucking face... it was enjoyable.
-
The rumor is more like ME is being shelved for the time being. There will be a sequel, just don't expect it for awhile.
Hell, they haven't even started on the next Dragon Age game, BioWare is sold that their next mystery IP, which I'm assuming will be revealed at E3 this year, is going to be the next big thing.
We'll see.

When Fallout came out, it was a side project that everyone expected to fail, so the creators had fun with it, took their time. When it was popular, the developer stepped in and started making demands. This happened with Dragon Age 2. This happened with Knights of the Old Republic 2. This happened during Vampire Bloodlines. Big name developers have to keep the lights on, and so they're going to push for only the most successful projects.
Hare Brained Schemes may not be the best studio, but I will buy anything they do with the word "Shadowrun" on it because they're trying new and interesting things. I haven't played through Wasteland 2, but I sure as hell Kickstarted it because I know that the authors are creative and care about what they're doing.
Bethesda just doesn't get Fallout. Bioware was gutted for their brand recognition. Numbers must be crunched. Bills must be paid.
Alas.

Should I even mention that this is one reason Half-Life 3 will never see light of day, now that Steam has turned into a distribution platform company and not a game company?
-
Yeah, those games DOTA and Portal 2 were one-offs that never really went anywhere.
Valve is Valve. Valve will do what Valve does. I doubt we'll never see Half-Life 3, but not because Valve is too busy making a ton of money doing something else. Gabe could simply not be interested in it anymore. Its time may have past, like people still dreaming of a new season of Firefly, which should never happen.
-
@Thenomain And when nostalgia for something so long ago comes to fruition... we get Duke Nukem Forever.
-
While a sequel is not currently in the works, Ass Effect over at PornHub, has apparently garnered a cult following, and there's more to (Paragon/Renegade... Paragon) come.
-
@Thenomain
Eh. Portal 2 is not something that they came up with, it was a sequel to a game that was submitted to them by a student project. Portal 2 itself was only developed because of internal clamor at Valve by the developers themselves wanting, itching, to code something fun.DOTA 2 was again, building on someone else's ideas and work, namely Blizzard.
Neither one of these games started as creativity within Valve, sir.

Well hey. http://kotaku.com/the-story-behind-mass-effect-andromedas-troubled-five-1795886428
Was wondering if anyone else was going to link that. Really interesting read, and pretty sad at the same time after finding out what could have been.
And then learning about how much of a nightmare Frostbite is to work with.

An adaptation of the Cypher (Numenera) RPG System to Mass Effect.

Mine system's better, and it's not even finished.
-
@Ganymede Is it publicly linked here? -_-

I absolutely love how everyone, I mean everyone hates Liam.

Oh, gods yes. I absolutely hate him. I wanted to kick him off the Tempest more than once.

You know, I cannot think of a Bioware game of the "Knights of the Old Republic" variety (KotOR through ME:A) that didn't have a male character that I didn't want to just throw into a lava pit for being a gigantic whiner.

I liked every dude in ME2. Can't think of any playable NPC I didn't like, really.
