My coworker loves thinking of new projects for me to do, without any consideration about how long what she's proposing will actually take me. Nevermind that due to my boss's slow hiring process, I'm currently trying to keep the ball moving in three different positions and am barely getting daily work done, let alone long-term projects.
On the plus side, I've gotten a lot better with telling people very frankly when their work is at the very bottom of my to-do list and what that means for turnaround time.

Not that anyone gives a shit about me, but seriously, I am not the only person/American here and elsewhere that is beyond the puking stage with politics and the zealotry and idle attacks.
I'd love to ignore the shit out of politics, but I have neither the privilege nor the luxury to ignore it.
Sorry, Gany, I truly am.
But political commentary should be in the Hog Pit on this board, IMNSHO. I get that in ALL avenues of someone's life, you can't truly avoid it. But here? Yeah, we fucking can. It has nothing to do with MUs.

That's all right. We all have our travails.

There's an entire section for political talk or discussion. Political sniping is what it is.
My pot-shot was at anti-vaxxers. That's not political; that's just common sense and reason against lunacy.

Counter-Peeve: I majored in political science, and I am sick of hearing citizens of the United States talk about how much they don't care about politics because they're so disgusted by it. You guys are part of the reason we're in this mess in the first place, dudes. You're a part of the democratic machine -- your "fuck it all" attitudes toward things like voting and political engagement only serves to keep fueling the nightmare. I even have the math to prove it to you.
Get out and vote for something, it's not that hard. If you're super convinced that all of the candidates suck, then run for something. It's not remotely difficult to win a local election. Hell, if someone is retiring, there are better-than-even odds that the election won't even be contested, so long as they can get an ass in the seat.
It doesn't work right now because all of the sane people who aren't political extremists decided a long time ago that they didn't have to give a fuck, but reserve the right to bitch about how screwed up things are.

I do feel that people who refuse to vote sort of give up all right to bitch.
(And before 'but voter suppression!!!!' note my wording: 'refuse to vote.')

I dunno, when I look at the US, the choices look like right wing and lunatic fringe, I can see why people don't want to vote down there. They should, but I don't blame them for not. It'll probably take a generation to babystep back towards sanity.

Can we please take politics discussion to the politics board? There's a place for it. Thanks!

Yo, she's right. There's a politics board for a reason. Some of us do want a break from otherwise endless political rants. This is not mod-ask, but ask as someone else who does otherwise get no end to it. I just wanna bang on the proverbial drum somewhere for funsies.
Can we do that? Playtime here and y'all can go and scream about how we're terrible horrible people for wanting a slice of the web that isn't Politics Hour over in the politics board.

She can be right about there being a place for things. And you can want a break from the politics talk.
But that doesn't mean I can't be annoyed by the idea that @Derp saying 'people ignore politics' is somehow a politically charged statement that, in a hilarious display of irony, @Sunny says can only be said over there, in a corner of the forum she can ignore.
It is a real world peeve that I have. It is not exclusively limited to politics (see also: science and/or religion).

Comments like @Jennkryst are why we can't have nice things in MU's, real world peeve, people who /know/ what they are doing is fucked up, insulting, and otherwise being a douche, and do it anyways.

I mean, while I can see where you're coming from, let's remember two things:
1). Edited because turns out, not in the Hog Pit. That's the other thread.
2). That comment was a follow-up to a series of previous comments, and actually happened to be on-point, at least. It even came with justification.
In other news, I've started a new 'Current Events' post over in the Politics section, complete with not one but two things to talk about, one extensively covered and one barely touched upon. Feel free, everyone, to go over and continue the politics discussion there, or add a new thing to talk about that you find discussion-worthy!

My bath regurgitates hair. I do not know how or why.
I suppose I should be glad it does this rather than get backed up.
But ew.

I didn't say @derp. I didn't even direct it at his comment. He's absolutely not the only one that was commenting! It was a general ask of the whole group of folks that were talking back and forth, because there's a politics section and this isn't it.
ETA: Was there really any reason to be mean about it? I sure as hell wasn't.

I watch the news and such on the regular, read articles in the (digital) newspaper, etc. when I want to think about politics, and more often, when I really don't, but know I need to be paying attention. That's a daily thing.
This is the daily thing I come to do that's ostensibly about the M* hobby, we crazy bastards playing in it (or taking breaks from playing in it, you know what I mean, y'all), and is about a bunch of us (usually) adults who still like to engage in a more grownup version of cops and robbers/etc.
These things are not chocolate and peanut butter. They're more like strawberry ice cream and sardines, which I really doubt is a combination you're going to find in the local candy aisle any time soon (don't y'all go digging through Japanese limited edition 'dare ya!' snack foods to prove me wrong, people, I'm onto you!!!). I appreciate that there's a politics forum I don't have to read so I can keep them on their respective sides of the mental energy plate.

I tried using @Sunny's link to get to the politics board and was denied access. How do I get to it?
