Good or New Movies Review
-
I don't know why but none of the Oscar movies this year make me want to watch them. Not that I think they're bad - I just haven't seen any of them, and I don't feel particularly inclined toward any. Maybe La La Land.
It could be me, though.

@Admiral
Comic Croc is only like 7 feet tall, it's not like he's Godzilla. I think only the Arkham series has made him SUPER noticably huger than normal people. -
@Arkandel I will say you are doing yourself a disservice by avoiding Hidden Figures. I actually think it's a crime that Taraji Henson wasn't nominated for Best Actress.

Taraji Henson, my friend.
And you would be doing yourself a disservice if you miss Fences as well. I don't need to see it to know how could it would be; I saw it live on stage, and to say that it was powerful is an understatement. It's not often when people cheer and clap when your token black lady yells out YOU GO SISTER in the middle of a staged performance.
-
@Ganymede Thank you. Fixed!
-
La La Land was amazing.
That's about it.Oh - and the ending, damn.

HIDDEN FIGURES SO GOOD!!!!!!!
I also loved The Arrival, and it makes me optimistic for the future of brainy sci-fi movies. If either of those won Best Picture, I'd be Very Pleased. I don't think it'll happen, though, so I'm just happy they're getting some love.
La La Land is next on my list (I've heard nothing but good things), even if I was underwhelmed by the soundtrack when I jammed to it on Spotify.

I loooooooooved Hidden Figures.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack; its flavor of bittersweet nostalgia just worked for me.
But it's the kind of movie I suspect you'll love or be indifferent about. I was in the mood to love it.

I enjoyed the songs, but I'm very aware the people singing them were cast for things other than their ability to sing awesomely. Gosling in particular. Emma Stone was fine.

Welcome to MSB, where unsolicited information can be chucked at you at a moment's notice. Boom! You have been made aware of useless crap you could have safely gone your whole life and never known!

Gods yes. Russell Crowe RUINED Les Mis.

Saw Beauty and the Beast.
Was pleased. Not the bestest Disney live-action (that still goes to Cinderella so far), but... was pleased with the outcome! -
@Bobotron I'm boycotting this movie. Not because of the gay scene. But because I have severe social reservations about a woman and a buffalo banging.
-
Beauty and the Beast was fantastic! There was one particular "new" thing I thought wasn't necessary and kind of derailed it, but other than that? Really well done. The guy who played Gaston? On point. #TeamGaston
-
Watch the Cassel vehicle instead.

I went to see Les Mis with a girl and basically whenever Russel Crowe was on screen singing we'd just make out. To be fair, it wasn't just when Russel Crowe was on screen singing.
... what was Les Mis about again?

Admin powers can bring threads back from THE DEAD.
Thor: Ragnarok was pretty good... if you go in knowing it's more comedy than not, and that it won't take itself seriously. Then you'll have a blast, otherwise you won't.
I did.
Also Cate Blanchett, damn.
-
Marvel not taking itself seriously and doing it well is Marvel at its best.
GOTG2 might be my favorite movie since 2000, nevermind my favorite 'comic movie'.
Super excited for Thor. Probably wait till next weekend tho. I like empty movie theaters.

See, I wanted there to be a bit more 'serious' to the Ragnarok portion. I feel like they shoehorned in Planet Hulk storyline... but overall I enjoyed it.
