I don't care about celebrity culture.
But Joaquin Phoenix's speech is worth listening to and replaying 1000 times.

For me it was about “American Factory.” It hit home for those of us who live in Dayton, Ohio, and see the stories firsthand.

God it was moving. I've always been a strong believer that peace, compassion, and love will always be a better course than to cancel each other out for past mistakes. Let's hope he reached more people with that.

Birds of Prey was damn good.

Birds of Prey was really enjoyable.
Although on the top of my list of movies that had no business being watchable, Sonic the Hedgehog appears over Spies in Disguise.

Frozen 2 was cute but not memorably so. That it was not nominated for best animated flick is understandable.
That The Hidden World did not win was robbery. I liked Toy Story 4 but that movie doesn’t even hold a candle.

Frozen 2 deserved a nod if only for how gorgeous it was. Which it was.
But really once Teen Titans GO! vs Teen Titans wasn't nominated I lost all interest. Talk about invalidating your entire show.

Finally got around to seeing John Wick 2 and 3. It only works if EVERYONE in the world KNOWS that assassins are real, and folks just... pretend to not unless given a coin. IE, an incredibly lolzy setting for a MU. Get cracking, folks!

Finally watched Mandy. Setting aside its fridgey premise, I really liked the ambience and gorefest.
Watched The Gentlemen. Classic Guy Ritchie. You'll like it if you like Guy Ritchie's stuff.
Also saw Bloodshot. If Vin Diesel starred in a superhero movie, it would be like... oh, wait.

Yeah, that one was all right.
This one just ... everything was bad. The pacing, the dialogue, the emotional beats...
The animation was on par with the rest. But everything else, god damn.
And I mean I will watch anything, especially during quarantine, but I was rooting for this thing to end (and the end is lame af).
I don't wanna like, collor anyone's future viewing of it, but yikes.

Watched Midsommar last night. There is a lot to unpack about that movie.
Despite the fact that there are definitely gory moments, it doesn't really feel like a horror movie to me, per se.

Beastmaster is such a literally masterpiece of film up there with the Odessy and Don Quixote. My preteen self mailed it that this was a genre work at the top of its time and this holds up today. Marc Singd and Rip Torns finest hours. It's a classic for the shelf alongside Circle of Iron.
Back when a b-movie was just low budget and not the next attempt at making The Toxic Avenger complete with excess gore and some gratuitous naked people.
