Good or New Movies Review

No I really honestly 100% agreed with everything you said, and I'm beyond stoked to see the new film for exactly the reasons you describe. I just wanted to gush about a really arresting scene, haha.
ETA: I never watched the sequels, so how are they dealing with the whole, uh... replacement thing that happens at the end of the original film?

Up in the air is all we can say for now. Helen will be featuring in the 2020 film (she's been recast, from what we've been told); I think the idea is that she's become part of the story, but not a replacement.
She didn't feature at all, or even get a mention, in either of the released sequels; neither of them really seemed to understand what the first film was doing with Candyman-as-legend, and just sort of went with Candyman-as-ghost-or-some-shit-maybe.
They weren't good.

I am beyond excited

Not a movie but I'll stick it here.
Apple is making Isaac Asimov's Foundation into a TV show.
Look, the Foundation is in my top-three book series ever. Asimov is my all-time favorite author, hands down. I've read this cover to cover multiple times.
I really hope I'm wrong but there is no way the books are filmable. Not in a way that's respectful to them. Asimov thrives on logic, analysis and reason; those are not cinematic qualities.
Again though - I would love to be proven wrong.

@Arkandel
Well, the setup of The Foundation works exceptionally well for a seasonal tv show since you can run one season per 'crisis'.The trailer didn't look very enticing though. -
This is a gentle reminder that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man movie, and possibly the best comic movie, of all time.
-
The Old Guard was pretty fun. Super slick action sequences, and the premise was cool, but I really wish they'd done it as a TV series or even a mini-series instead and given these characters and their backstories a lot more room to breath. Considering they were centuries-old immortal mercenaries, there were a lot of awesome tales to tell that we didn't get to see aside from little index card references and that's disappointing! (Admittedly I am a huge geek for flashback scenes, sue me.)

I want to say I like Superman better out of loyalty to how long I've loved it, but honesty makes my fingers pause at the keyboard.

It's awhile off but I'm already eager for the sequel to get here.
Also, I found The Gentlemen pretty damn entertaining. One of Charlie Hunam's best movie roles, I think.

@Wizz I enjoyed The Old Guard but kept wanting to scream, "Now cut off his head!" and yelling at them to get to holy ground.

I mean, that's the reference. But no, the movie/comic book has many key differences from Highlander.
-
...I wouldn't say no to a rebooted Highlander series either, tbh.
(As long as they kept Princes of the Universe as the themesong.)

Hard same. An updated Highlander would be fantastic.
-
A rebooted Highlander movie/TV series is supposed in the works by the John Wick director

Sorry. Sword. Phallus. The joke made itself.

@Coin Getting head, etc

I was greatly entertained by The Old Guard.
And I just want to say: Joe and Nicky. Nicky and Joe.
Thank you.

Not gonna lie, Joe's speech to the guards about Nicky made me tear up. Easily the best bit of dialogue in a movie I've seen in quite a while.
