San Francisco: Paris of the West

@cobaltasaurus I'd be interested in a cabal. One of the big reasons I haven't really played nwod lately is that I seriously hated this hybrid nonsense TR and Fallcoast did.
@tnp can join our cabal too!
-
See, I grew up in San Francisco.
Here's what I'm thinking of, for a cabal.
I grew up in Miraloma Park, a fairly quiet residential neighborhood in the upper reaches of Mount Davidson. Don't take that 'mount' too seriously, its not a real mountain. BUT.
The top of Mount Davidson is a little park area, and if you go there, its a fun little hike up to the top. At the top is the famous giant concrete cross. This is the highest point in the city, and has an amazing view of the whole city.
But if, during this hike, you take a side path there is... a bunker.
Its cement with a steel door and I have no real idea what's in it (I suspect electrical systems to light up the cross but don't know for sure)
But what if the bunker was more then just that?
What if a cabal of mages claimed the highest point of the city, looking over the city, and that bunker was their base?
ETA:
The High Wardens, maybe? I'm not so good at names.

Now we know where your cabal is!
Sending in the Vampires!

@haven I have two words for you.
Lawn chairs.

This is my take: a bunch of hipster millenials running their own fast food joint. They serve glutten free burgers, the guys sport manbuns and fancy beards, they're all on their phones half the time gulping down craft beer the other half and have crippling student debts to worry about. Half of them might even still be at school.
The restaurant is also their stronghold, a nexus of activity for the city, a social laboratory for the Mastigos, a spiritual collective for the Thyrsus, and the OOC hook for the group to have a public space under their control.
It could work!

@arkandel I've never played Mage before. I've tried so often and it never 'clicked' for me. mortal+ I get. I need MtA for dummies.
I'm now really excited to give mage another try.

This.
I like the name "Regulators."

What I always liked about Mage is that although Awakening could be traumatic it didn't need to be.
Every other splat is full of trauma and angst by necessity. You are a bloodthirsty monster or a raging death machine or a dead man walking with voices in your head... but Mages can be happy. Like, naturally. They can afford to worry about their grades. And they get to reshape reality but how does that get them a date?
-
@darc When do the doors open?
-
@arkandel This is eerily similar to an actual place I used to go to in Palo Alto.
-
@autumn Did you like the wizards' fries ?
-
@darc The Alpha has begun! You can find our wiki at http://www.sfmux.com and you can connect directly to the game server with the client of your choice at sfmux.com port 1337

Who would have thought that World of Darkness would replace the Goth/Punk vibe with Hipsters drinking craft beer, slinging artisanal veggie-burgers. The Mohawk has been replaced with the man bun. Fishnet shirts replaced with hand-me-down sweaters...
-
@autumn Hey, Hey. I wanna be the Mastigos this time... >_> (Donβt look too shocked at kybplaying something OTHER than a Moros.)

Let's make this happen.

@ixokai @Autumn @Ganymede @Cupcake --
Here's my very very general concept:
Junior scientist working on her master's in astronomy and physics at the local college. Works part time at a local observatory. Super into space and mind, and travel. But she's bored with earth and wants to travel the stars. It's frustrating being stuck on earth. /Guh/.
Thinking Reality Stalker if legacies are allowed. Haven't decided on order yet, path is definitely Mastigos.
-
I am definitely interested in this game. Will be giving it a try!
-
@cobaltasaurus Well, Reality Stalker is the best Legacy. But I might be biased.
