Game of Thrones

Although I wasn't spoiled - if only because I watched the newest episode as soon as it aired - there's a Yahoo! article right now literally titled "RIP <character name>".
These motherfuckers.
-
@Arkandel I don't usually use yahoo, but it looks like it's the 'tvline' news feed that's doing this. They have something where you can customize your feed with the little dots to, ideally, expunge them from your list. A glance at one of their articles says they specialize in spoilers. Stupid call, yahoo.

Well, that was a hell of a thing.

That's the question we were all asking ourselves.

I was not thrilled with last night's episode for a few reasons. I mean, I know it's supposed to be a battle at night and fog of war, blah blah blah, but there were several points where I just couldn't tell what was happening because I couldn't see it.
Also, I have questions about the thing.
-
You guys should just make a spoilers thread specifically for people who are completely current, so you can speak openly without fear of ruining things for other people. I wanna hear the speculations.

Bad. It's bad. The plot is completely off the rails, the only constant to character action is their reliable inconsistency, the choices being made make no sense, dialogue is uniformly terrible, and the entire thing has been slouching toward the finale borne entirely on the capital of goodwill it accrued when the showrunners were adhering remotely closely to the source material.
Martin is a sleazy hack who is way too interested in minors having sex, but he's a sleazy hack who is way too interested in minors having sex and who has at least one creative bone in his body. The show was at its height when the showrunners served as much needed editors for Martin's tendency to ramble and be creepy. Now it's nothing but dick jokes from Tyrion and utter silence from Varys, because the writers aren't good enough to write characters who are geniuses.
-
@Pandora I think it's kinda staying here behind the spoiler tags due to the post previews in the new posts/etc. pages that show the first line or two of post text. I mean, to be fair... I wouldn't want to stumble over a spoiler like that if I was one of the people who is testy about them.
-
I agree with @Aria on how dark the episode was (as in, I can't see what's happening) but wow, that we can have something like this on TV is still unreal. This is A-list movie level production values.
What a weekend for the Starks!

Oh my god, your level of investment in something you don't like makes me snicker. I hope you find joy in something.

<rubs face a little> A number of posters here are geniuses or near, technically speaking, and it's never stopped anyone here from being a spectacular idiot, too, so, uh, there's that.
-
I liked it, but my hubby ranted the whole time. It is really cute when he does that (I love hearing him yelling at computer games too, it is awesome, this was mild compared to that).
But you know. Dragonfight! Also in every episode that Bran is in I hear Leslie Jones' Three Eyed Raven rant in my head which makes me happy too.
I think this is just something we will have vastly different viewing experiences of, like LoTR. Give me dirty sweaty crusty Viggo over boringly written Tolkien windbag, but hubby prefers the writing. and yeah, I even liked the orcsurfing!
-
I enjoyed it in the moment (parts of it very much in a FUCK YEAH sort of way) but it feels like anything after this is going to be an anti-climax/not the ending I personally wanted, and I'm preparing myself for disappointment way more than I was after the last couple weeks. Ah well, it's been a ride.
-
@Three-Eyed-Crow I think we might not have as much of the story resolved yet as we currently think we do. We'll see, though.
After all a certain character spent a great deal of time during the episode doing... something, and we don't know what it is.
-
I'm squinting in anticipation of another shoe dropping, for the reasons mentioned above.
-
Is anyone watching Jonathan Van Ness' Gay of Thrones recaps because they are spectacular.

@Cupcake I saw the one for episode 1 and it was hilarious
