When I put in my notice, my job asked me what it would take to keep you. They gave me a massive backdated raise and promised to make safety related changes. We will see.
Part of me is like, thank you, I really didn't want to leave, but felt I had to.
And part of me is like, why didn't they do this sooner?
Anyways, I am staying for now - but I didn't sign a contract and if changes don't happen, I still might leave.

Only you know what's best for you. But glad that something positive is starting to happen for you!
-
Yeah, time will tell if the changes happen and that back dated raise is more than deserved. I am most died in the line of duty and am one of the last standing who hasn't left!
It felt a bit validating I will admit to hear them, go /We need you. What will it take?/
And I realized I have influence there, more than I realized. I just had to put in my two weeks notice!

I work in a job that pays well, is in an amazing industry (renewable energy), and I'm doing what I have a degree for. It should be great.
Unfortunately my boss is a sexist piece of shit who is verbally abusive. So I'm job hunting and it makes me kinda sad because I'd love to stay but I cannot with that man.
-
@kk I hope they do everything they promise.
@RogueNeko I'm sorry, that sucks.
I need to decide what to do. I need out of my current job, hell, the current field. I have several friends encouraging me to go into the IT field with them.
I also have a friend telling me to consider getting my class B, and come work with him.

I'm sure this is just my paranoia speaking, but they didn't ask you to sign anything, did they?
-
I didn't sign anything! But yeah I understand the paranoia. Healthcare is a mess as you well know!
-
@kk The sad reality is that changes are rarely made until people are willing to leave over it. The squeaky wheel really does get the grease, unfortunately that squeak usually has to be represented with two week's notice. And what is getting sadly even more common is the willingness to let good people go so they can hire on someone desperate for less money and who will risk more for longer before complaining.

Yeah I just got an equity raise at work and on the one hand I was like hooray a raise! And on the other I was like...so how long have you guys been massively underpaying me?

At least you guys got a raise. Our bosses are still trying to decide whether we're truly worthy of one.

Today at work:
In morning carline, one of my students happily told me, "Hey, Miss Mietze, are you ready for the new virus? IT'S COMING FOR US ALL." (said in a very chipper tone) When asked if it was like a computer virus, illness causing virus, or what, he just told me "you'll see!"
During morning work time, two of the kids got in a shouting argument about whether Elsa (from Frozen) was from Guatemala or not. I have no idea where even Guatemala entered this. I thought she was from Arindelle or something like that. When I asked why they thought she lived in Guatemala, they both turned to me and said "what is Guatemala anyway?" and I was like "you tell me, you're the ones arguing about it," and they looked at ME like I was nuts.
Then at circle time we were talking about living/non living things, their characteristics, ect, and went around the circle where everyone got to name a living thing. Then we went around the circle and the kids named a non lving thing. "Paint!" "Carpet!", "the wall!", and finally one of my most sweet faced girls yells out (extremely happily) "DEAD PEOPLE!"
We had a really long recess time today. It wasn't the weirdest day I've had this year, but. At least it is pretty fun.

Probably leaving my job and off work for a while - I haven't fully decided what I am doing and when/if going back. I don't want to go into too many details, but had two recent head injuries from assaults on the job and I think staying to begin was a mistake as many here did try to tell me!
Appreciate all the support. I am doing well considering. I am taking a little break to recover. I might be playing more though.
I will probably move to another job, I already a have a place to lined up to work, but my work is super in demand.
Will break my heart to leave my patients after all this, but I am not safe.

There also is a lot that could be done to make things safer that mangement/owners are not willing to do because it would cost money and the owners are rich.
