He was my biggest crush. Hope they make martinis shaken and not stirred up there.

@Auspice This hurts my very soul
-
He was such a great actor. I think almost anyone can hear him in their head from some movie he was in that they loved (For me, it's the Rock. Why? No idea.)
But 90? He had a helluva life.

Yeah.
I mean....it's not like we lost him in his prime. He'd been sick a while and I'm glad he's no longer suffering. But I still, to this day, think of him when I think of Bond. I think of how he loved being Indy's dad so much in the Indiana Jones movies he would've done it again which shows a soul that enjoys fun and levity. He was a great actor and, by all evidence, a great man.
He was one of my favorites for many reasons since I was a child.

Sean Connery has always been my favorite Bond, and he was a total favorite actor of mine for much of my life growing up, but that last bit is sadly almost certainly not true.
-
I still feel that, even in the worst movies, Sir Connery was fucking awesome. I even love him in movies that are pretty much universally panned, LXG and First Night being two of those movies,
-
He was my favorite actor until the whole "sometimes a woman just needs to be hit" thing that he then would double down on later. Since that point I've always sort of cringed to like anything he did.
-
There are very few people of that age who aren't really cringe-worthy.

And yet there aren't that many of them that go on the record as saying that sometimes women just need to be beaten.
-
There aren’t many people who didn’t give a fuck like him. But I’m pretty sure his opinion isn’t uncommon among that age group.
-
Probably. I suppose I'm just particularly sensitive to the topic in question.
-
@Sunny I get the feeling this thread will get moved to the Hog Pit if I say what I think about someone who gets a pass on advocating for beating women because he once did a good job pretending to be a spy who drives cool cars, so let me just say I don't think you're being sensitive.

To be clear, I don't pardon or condone what he said or did at all. I mean to say that it is a pervasive line of thought carried by a lot of older people, and by extension that we shouldn't tolerate this from old people, no matter how we are taught to love and honor family.
My mother is horridly racist, for example. Bet your life I call her out on that shit loudly ever single damn time, IDGAF who she is.

So's mine. I don't have the strength to argue which is why I cut off all contact entirely (long story of abuse). Partner still picks up the phone at times though and good lord, the arguments. Because indeed, that shit needs to be called out every damn time.
