Interesting sounding TV shows for the summer:
Houdini & Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Stephen Mangan) and Harry Houdini (Michael Weston) solve mysteries while debating whether or not the supernatural is realPreacher
Outcast
The show follows Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), who is looking for answers about why he’s been the subject of possessions since he was a kid. Unsurprisingly, this search for answers could lead to disaster for all of humanity.BrainDead
Alien spawn have eaten the brains of the people working on Capitol Hill. ComedyDead of Summer
A supernatural evil stalks a summer camp and the show balances that with the usual problems faced by the kids and counselors there.Mr. Robot
Stranger Things
Another new Netflix series, this one’s set in the ‘80s and starts with the disappearance of a young girl, and ends with top secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and “one very strange little girl.” A cast led by Winona Ryder -
So GoT is back.
How about that Mellissandre, huh?
(And how flat is the Dorne story? I hated it last season, I still hate it now.)
I have a secret hope that they did that just so they can quickly write all things Dorne out of the show by killing the people who matter.
But I know they did it because the writers love their version of the sand snakes for some reason.
-
I like a lot about the show. What they're doing with Dorne is a travesty though - the writers' only chance for redemption in that regard is if they are aware of the fact, and they're leading things to a meltdown there. I can't tell if they think we should be fist-pumping for the Sand Snakes or what.

@lordbelh I seriously don't know if they have the go-ahead to put some of the more controversial elements of the comic book's plot in place. But Arseface is in, so that's something.

So so bad. I hope Alexander Siddig got paid massive bank for his cameo. None of the Dorne plot makes any sense (if anything the premier made things worse in that regard) and I suspect they're going to keep on keeping on with it, sigh.
Also really looking forward to Preacher, if only to see how they realize it.

@Arkandel, @Three-Eyed-Crow , I haven't read the comics. I'm not a comics guy. But just from who is making it and starring in it, and what I've heard from people who've seen the first episode, apparently there are reasons to be excited.

The comic was excellent. But I'll read anything Garth Ennis has written.

I look at Preacher like I look at Sin City, any time I can get Frank Miller style stories without Frank Miller art it is a plus. or Garth Ennis style with out actually Garth Ennis writing I am on board.
Besides his Swamp Thing run, which is second only to the Alan Moore run for awesome Swamp Thing, my opinion of Ennis is always I like the ideas but the execution not so much. -
Okay, I laughed hard.
-
It makes sense from the showrunner point of view. Doran didn't get the character development that Ellaria did, and the animosity between her and Cersei was very clear and very compelling. I mean, peoples' kids are getting poisoned. CAT FIGHT!
-
The implication seems to be the actor got transphobic with Lana Wachowski. Whatever your personal beliefs are (and his are apparently pretty fucking awful), shitting where you eat is a bad idea.
I love this show, so here's hoping that the consistency of character remains smooth. They managed it with Spartacus, so...
-
@Cupcake It seems to be a very odd series to be in if you're anything-phobic. There are several characters with different sexual orientations in it.

Exactly so. Jamie Clayton has been pretty vocal about how she's glad the previous actor is gone and has been stressing that hatred and bigotry isn't cool, without specifying what form of it was apparently taken. Given that the trans actress is the one singing loudest about Aml Ameen's ass not hitting the door on the way out, it's my suspicion (and apparently most people's) that the hatred in question was transphobia. Clayton refused to confirm or deny.

GoT: I knew that was how it'd go when it happened in the books. I WAS RIGHT. But they did manage to make me doubt myself for a long ass time.
-
@lordbelh I haven't watched it. I was up late watching the Raptors game so I didn't have it in me to stay up more. So I avoided the internet for the entire morning, I was super paranoid about being spoiled.
Then my freakin' niece from across the freakin' ocean PMs me on Facebook and spoils it.
Arrrrghhhhhhh.

Ha. I feel for you, man. For what it's worth, I thought it was a really good episode full of forward momentum. So you've got something to look forward to.

Supergirl is being chased by the cancellation bear. While dubious at first I've come to enjoy the program and the Flash crossover was well done.
