Hemlock Grove. 3 Episodes in and they have decided, y'know what?We don't need rails. Let's go off the rails while flying this train over a shark.

And the shark is on fire.

That is kind of what I loved about that show from the beginning. It's the same old vampire-werewolf-supernatural shit, except they don't follow the established tropes. Fuck it all, we do whatever we want. I love refreshing stuff like that, even when it's a bit shitty, it'll keep me interested.

6 episodes in to Hemlock Grove. The crazy train has looped back around and ran the train into the shark, detonating a car full of dynamite

Upvoted because I watched Back to the Future yesterday.

The new Supergirl show - originally slated for CW but was taken as a showrunner for CBS's entry into superhero television. Did anyone pick up the pilot? What are your thoughts?

I watched the pilot ages ago (but will watch it again this week). I really liked it. I think if they get a good fight choreographer (like the one from Arrow) and can keep their budget on-point for the special effects, it will be a great show.

The cast is pretty good, they found a great Supergirl for the role. I was amused by all the non-references to Superman - he's never called by name ("the Big Guy") or shown directly (always shots of his back, or a cape or something).

                      It's promising.

The unfortunate compromise of using someone related to a big name that they can't have acess to because the big name is in the movies. Man, at least SHIELD can make references to the Avengers by name. But it's honestly not the writers's fault--I suspect the executives want Superman mentioned but WB won't let them do it explicitly so the writers have their hands super-tied, (pun entirely intended). I'm willing to forgive all weirdness due to this simply for the fact that executives are dicks this way and writers have a hard job as it is without having to jump through these dumbass hoops.

Oh, I agree. And it's a shame too, because as Agents of SHIELD has shown tying a TV series to the movies' timeline can be an incredible tool for both - it can hype upcoming films big time and the show itself benefits from the association with its own ratings (AoS was only average until Captain America: Winter Soldier took S.H.I.E.L.D. down then it got really good).

I really enjoined the pilot, I will definitely be tuning in for more. My biggest complaint is that it iairs opposite Gotham so I now will no longer be getting to watch Gotham but that goes into the whole executives being dicks thing, since it is a standard tv tactic to schedule similar shows against each other.
And yes I am one of the few old people that still primarily watches tv on tv.

                              People are still watching Gotham?

I kinda got tired of it when I realized that all the villains EXCEPT Selina will be elderly when this Batman actually is of age to fight them.

Batman's villains being in their mid-forties when he's in his prime is a great way to explain how easily he beats them up. >.>

I quit watching Gotham just prior to the episode Everyone Needs A Cobblepot. I like the young Riddler and young Penguin but the show was tapering off and couldn't keep my interest when there were other shows to watch with my limited time. My brother said the new season has picked things up but I suspect the rise of villains (I think that's what they're calling it?) is because of fading ratings.

I only lasted about half way through the first season. I returned for the start of the second and was mildly enjoying it. In my opinion the first ep of Supergirl was better then any of gotham have been.
And I don't think they are building towards this ever being a recognizable Batman's gotham. Not give a half spoiler they have already knocked off a major villain in the show. And not in a mysterious way we got the short of the body on the autopsy table.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s last episode was excellent.
