I am watching a compilation of people reacting to the last episode of the Mandalorian, and I am very confused by them. I won't go into spoilers, but, like, why on Earth would anyone think the show would even let them suspect that's where they were going with it if they weren't gonna follow through? The rage would be visible from space.

I like The Mandalorian, but it seems to lack the driving storyline that made me binge A:TLA, TLOK, and She-Ra. I'm not sure if that's a flaw, but I have more of a drive to watch B:TAS than The Mandalorian.

I think I'm thankful I decided to watch SW: Rebels before watching The Mandalorian.

It gave a lot more context for things that are going to happen. Or potentially will be revealed in the Ahoska series that's being made.

Granted, if I get a continuation of Rebels in some form, I'm pretty content because I loved Rebels.

Lots of reasons. Sometimes when you want something so bad, you read into things that might not be there. Or because shows have to deal with real world BS, everyone might have wanted a certain thing but it just couldn't come together in production for whatever reason. So you might really want to see one thing and instead get something tangentially related to that thing instead. And it just becomes an homage or reference to the original because that's the best they can do. So like if an actor decided not to come back to a show, the next season might have someone else in a similar role who happens to be that first character's cousin. It happens.

The Stand.

Okay, I like a lot of the casting choices and think the actors are doing a good job BUT I utterly loathe how the story is being told. A big part of The Stand is the journey, and showing that in pieces in flashback form just doesn't feel great to me.

Though maybe it's just that I've read the book several times and have seen the 90s miniseries like 5 times.

I will also say the last episode did bring Kojak into the picture and he's the best character in the whole book. Good boys are always the best characters.

Have you looked into Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts? I can't like authoritatively say you'll like it, but I was a massive fan of the Avatars and She-Ra and it served as my recovery binge when I got through She-Ra's last season. The music especially is fantastic IMO.

WandaVision

Two things.

I'm in this viewer mode where I can't find anything I like and its mostly I'm over big hollywood. So I look for things rich in movie language. Like I recently found Out of Blue 2 years late (which sure, the circular storyline is overly done of late but the language of the film was great for me) or watching Eastwoods stuff cause it harps back to like watching Atlman or Orson Wells or Gene Kelley's art parts in Singing in the Rain (no not Tarantino film language who's more like Grad School student film language at best for me). Things were shots, angels, sets, zooms, pans and such are as much the language as the actors and dialogue.

But I like watching Marvel or Mando with my daughter who's picked up on geek culture so we can share that.

And two, I like WandaVision. Because:

On one part cause I get each TV series its paying homage to cause I'm old. Like you can tell Bewitched from Bradybunch without the show being direct 'hey, this is X.'m And another part because the overly faux comedy is nice, but then they pick up the cameo funny folks from other films and slapped them into Ep 4 which was even better. The plot is readable, I called it at the get go, but its good to see them embrace Wanda in this alt reality, even with the twins getting a cameo as this is when they were born moment (or they may come back). Weird nerd head nods to comic fans. Have to see if Strucker is done better by Kevin then just a head nod like in Gifted, if Strucker comes back into play. The other easter eggs are fun along thew way (Stark Tech items, Hydra, etc) - maybe they're not easter eggs; I've no clue with the leaps it makes in 4 episodes.

So thing one, I wasn't expecting much but just big hollywood in WandaVision, so two there was some pleasant surprises watching this series so far.

I don't know if I would call it 'good tv' but I am enjoying Warrior on HBO Max. I was always a Bruce Lee fan as a kid and Enter the Dragon is of course on my top ten due to this.

Between this and Cobra Kai I am pretty content. Although I think Warrior just got canceled after season 2 I hope they find a route to make more. To be fair I'm only on episode 6 of the first season.

Speaking of HBO Max, 30 Coins is just fantastic.

I am a huge fan of practical effects, so this show has really been a treasure and they are sincerely horrifying. The story at times gets almost a little cheeseball, but it's self aware enough about it that it stays charming.

I'm not usually into Catholic theology-heavy horror either, but damn if all the lore isn't presented with enough subversion and straight-up weirdness to be fascinating. Give it a shot if you haven't already!
