So, Book 8 of The Expanse, Tiamat's Wrath was released yesterday and I've been devouring it. I've been waiting for this book since December and I can finally figure how this whole story is going to end in Book 9.
Goddamn, it's so fucking good.
No spoilers! Due to work I'm only halfway through!
Though I'm also very much enjoying it. I'm impressed by the way the end game dominos have been so carefully placed so long ago... I mean, we're getting payoff in book 8 for stuff set up back in book 4!

Someone, I have no idea who, used me as a referral for JimmyBeansWool... which got me a coupon code for $15 off my next referral.
Since I am still finishing my 'oh god so expensive' (each skein is about $25) blanket and will need to buy 2 more skeins before the end, this is a super awesome thing.

@Sparks Yes! The Long Dig! Now I can sell my soul to the next thing.
(I bet VGs are WORSE. So much more TIIIIIME)
-
Trying this again, cough cough.
Maybe found a doctor that will listen to me! Hope is nice.

So minor, but:
Finally, finally nailed a method for making tapioca pearls for bubble covfefe at home that works for me.
Naturally, I'm now out of them, but... <shakes a fist at the sky> I KNOW WHERE AMAZON IS AND I CAN GET MORE.

A super generous friend got me a Switch, which arrived today, and another friend is looking into getting a family plan for Nintendo Online so we can play games with her sister and her sister's friend. To say I am utterly gobsmacked by their generosity is an understatement.
People like these two friends are why I can remember that for ever shitlord we have to deal with there are at least ten super nice, wonderful people to make up for their shitlordery.

After 3 weeks without AC (look, Texas; I need it), I finally have working AC again.
It only took finally sending a certified letter to the leasing office threatening them under the TX Renters Rights that if they didn't get it fixed by X date, I would consider the lease broken, no longer be paying rent, and I'd move out two weeks after that date with no repercussions. (Along with a list of each time I'd called them and been brushed off -twice- and each time I'd submitted a maintenance request -eight- with no response).
I might finally get a good night's rest tonight.

The last items needed for my guinea pig cage have been ordered. Once I have the cage set up perfectly, I can start looking for two pretty sows to live in it. GuineaDad fleece covers are so.fucking.expensive ($85 for a 2ft by 5 ft fleece is highway robbery) but I am assured it will be worth it to not have to scoop soiled bedding ever again.
I'm nervous - mammals have care requirements that are much more rigorous than those of my reptiles. But I'm so pleased to finally have enough space for two little adoptees.
-
I am, in fact, apparently getting a raise. I'm confused as to why my boss decided to bump me up not one, but two levels, but I'll take it.

Spending a good hour at Bath and Body Works smelling candles and then taking home my two choices.
It's a dumb little thing. But I love candles. I'm annoyed that wallflowers don't really make an impact in my apartment, whereas the three-wick candles do. Maybe it's the fact I have ten foot ceilings? Not sure on that, but I suppose for 800 square feet for my apartment, two isn't enough. But yet, one candle can do that job just fine?
Still, while I'm not really a fan of overly flora scents and prefer more woodsy type fragrances and Bath and Body Works selection isn't all that great(for me, at least)until fall/winter I've found some I really like.
....now I just have to clean.

I still have carefully packaged candles from a trip to the Yankee Candle Co flagship store many many years ago. I have an entire bin full of various candles and candle-making supplies. Candles are (and handy, too! I mean, power outages, romantic evenings, demon summoning rituals...)
-
My nana used to make homemade candles. I ruined it for her, though, as I drank some of the scented stuff as a wee one. On Thanksgiving, of all days. One trip to the ER and a dose of ipecac syrup later and... well, needless to say, but I don't think anyone felt like eating dinner after that. Nana stopped making candles after that, too.

I FUKKIN LOVESCENTED CANDLES!!
Ahem.
But i do. Especially Clove/Vanilla/pumpkin rich warm scents...
Oh and Anything evergreen, gimme a candle that smells like 12345697 Christmas trees, thanks.

Bought one from White Barn that's just called The Original. I don't know what the fuck The Original smells like, but there's something wood related in there that just smells fantastic.
Gonna burn that shit all day.
-
I got one called "Sugared Birch" from Target that smells utterly divine. I also love any that are orange/cinnamon/clove.

Monday is over.

So on April Fool's Day I fell through my deck while taking it easy and not doing fighter practice on my lunch break (I was doing a little light gardening instead). And not one of my friends that I told thought it was an April Fool's Day prank (it really wasn't). It's a little thing, but I love the people that know me well enough to know that 1) I don't prank, 2) I hate AFD, and 3) random bizarre accidents like that happen to me ALL THE TIME and this was nothing out of the ordinary.
my friends. <3.
-
@Darinelle ugh! Glad you were not seriously hurt! Does this mean insurance gets you a new deck?
-
@mietze Probably not? I don't think homeowners' insurance covers that. It's really just one board though that had a hole in it that I couldn't see because the planter fell apart and dirt was everywhere covering it.
