We just got approved to foster kittens. <3. We don't know when we will get a placement but apparently there is A LOT of need right now so fingers crossed!

So I was in a store this morning and one of the anti-mask people walked in. I could tell thats what he was because of the way he kept looking at other people and doing the confrontational body language thing. When he locked eyes with me I could not help myself, I giggled and then had a laughing fit. It was contagious. I'm fully vaxed. I wear a mask to put other people at ease and because I still do not want to potentially get it even if I've got some protection against the worst illness and also for the comfort of others. I don't really care about wearing one.
This guy turned tail and stopped off with like six people laughing and setting each other off. My compassion fatigue is huge. And yes, I am a total asshole/bitch/whatever.
But man it feels good to not even care about grown ass people's toddler antics and taking that power away of how badass they are about claiming their freedumb and instead reacting to the ridiculousness that it is.
I'm still wiping away tears and my side hurts from the first gigglefit I've had in at least a year.

I could have escalated a weirdo for the poor retail staff and I would have felt really bad. And it was probably more like 3 or 4 people instead of six (everyone waiting in the back of our line near the door waiting to check out.) But it did feel good even if my eyes are stinging from laugh tears getting sunscreen into my eyes.

^ This. I've been fully vaccinated since the end of March, since health reasons put me in Group 1B. I also still wear a mask for the sake of other people and not freaking them out/encouraging unvaccinated anti-maskers in their bullshit.
It's proven quite effective in chiming in to support employees in public places who ask people to put one on or wear it properly.

Just got back from the grocery and 3 people weren't wearing masks, and every one of them I walked by, I shouted, "KAREN ALERT" at the top of my lungs.
Shunning, shaming, and ostracizing anti-maskers and anti-vaccers is the only way any progress is going to be made.

This juicer, which says on the bottom that the warranty expires in july of 74.
Meaning it's more than 5 years older than I am =P

Since I had a coupon, I decided to order from the barbecue joint that used to be around the corner from the apartment where @insomniac7809 and I first lived.
We've since moved and so have they, but one thing that has not changed at all is their website. Probably since, like, 1998. Ohh, sure, they've updated the prices and added the new Tex-Mex items they have available but....
There's still dancing pig sprites. And little fire animations. And their catering contact is listed as "electronic mail" with an AOL.com email address. I didn't even know AOL still existed.
It is glorious and perfect and amazing and we love it.
-
@aria Verizon bought AOL, so a lot of people with Verizon got aol accounts for email.
I may have one that I've had for almost as long as I've been RPing, but that's another story.

I work in IT. I am doing so from home.
My coworkers that are working in the office dropping everything to run and be my hands for 2 minutes for part of a bit of troubleshooting? It's ducking priceless. I cannot possibly express my appreciation for them enough. Not having to send somebody back into a ticketing system because I can't physically flip a switch is super, super helpful.

My new apartment! It was a little bit awkward, because their post move-out clean crew were in there when I was allowed to go see it this afternoon. But even pre-cleaned it looked fantastic to me. Note it's a studio the layout is basically:
Main Room | | Kitchen Walk In Closet & Bathroom
Panorama shot of the main room from the corner next to the main window.
Panorama from the diagonal corner.

I like!

@ganymede ty, I am so relieved i am finally about to get all that sleep i've been missing. I can't wait to be out of where I am, and to be able to do it before I'm forced out.
-
@cobalt That looks lovely! Great choice!

@Cobalt When I got my first apartment it was a studio because the location and price was great but there were no other 1 bedrooms available in the building. They said I could take the studio until a 1 bedroom unit opened up. But by the time one did, I loved my studio so much I didn't want to leave. I didn't need much space and everything I needed was close by. And it was so easy and quick to clean! Why pay so much more just for a little more space and more walls. I actually miss living in a studio now, so enjoy it!
-
@warma-sheen Technically their non renovated 1br are cheaper than my studio, because it's renovated and newly updated. But they don't know when one will be available and I needed an apartment now.
-
I am just glad you could find a place, Cobalt.
If I didn't have roommate coming in (buddy I've known for over a decade, she got a job here in my city after she lost hers to Covid from a city 1.5 hours away. So all the hunting has fallen to me, to go see things, etc. She also works the night shift remote for now, so yeah, I'm the daylight person), I would SO already be living in some tiny studio.
They have studios here that cost as much as my share of rent here, with utilities included. And gods know all of my stuff would easily fit in a studio.
sigh I am just hoping one of these places soon will just accept us. We're offering first, last, security, and if need me, an additional month's rent in advance.

I just ordered silly, fruity cheap ass wines to be delivered to my house. during my work shift.
I'm lazy and I'm going to be stupid later and drink cold wine outside in the heat, and love every second of it
