RL things I love

My 5 year old keeps on telling me he's using "destruction paper" for his project and it's adorable.
-
I just started to sew for the first time since school. I joined a dressmaking class and I love it. It came with some struggles (pattern for class goes up to X size. I am four sizes above that) but this weekend I shortened curtains and now I just recovered some chairs that have been bugging me.

Sitting in the barn with my horse, listening to her chewing her hay or keeping still as she naps with her head resting on my shoulder. I am ever baffled that 800 kilos of muscle horse can and will treat my disabled self as if I was her baby, made from glass.

After witnessing a very pretty, very happy dog come trotting off the elevator with his mom, a toy held proudly in his mouth...
My coworker goes off following: "I think I can pet a dog first thing in the morning."
I love that my job allows dogs. It's the happiest most therapeutic thing, I swear.
(btw his name is Henry and he is the best doggo)

You know you're on a weird/deep wikipedia dive when you think: "I wonder whatever happened to Jackée from that 227 TV show?"
-
@Auspice That is why I love working from home. I have my Logan, and if I get stressed out, he comes and puts his head in my lap.

Doing the moulage thing again today, and I brought a buddy.

Throwing things away.
Lawd, throwing things away is fun.
I know I’m being a bad environmentalist. I know I should recycle and repurpose this stuff. But I’m in the process of moving house and the contractors are swooping in so fast on my old place that I do not have time. So, in anticipation of their arrival tomorrow to tear up and repurpose this place, I have been throwing out every single piece of accumulated junk from the last 8 years I’ve lived here. I cannot explain the sheer glee doing this has filled me with.
When people hear I’m in the process of moving house they keep offering me condolences like this must be such a difficult time for me and I’m like, no. I fucking hate this place. Saying goodbye is a joy. I just don’t want the door to hit itself on my way out.

@Kestrel I get this.
It's a form of therapy to literally toss out the past. It's like setting the future for something better and greater. I'm glad you are enjoying the process.

When a kiddo I had four years ago sees me in the hallway and still wants to give me a hug.
-
Now I'm over here feeling a feeling and everything.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Every year, one of the highlights of the holiday season for me is the yearly DJ Earworm mashup.
It dropped today and this year.... it's a Decade of Pop mix -
I'm crazy in love with my nephew. I got to hold him and take care of him for 4 hours today. The Oxytocin is dangerous level.

@Auspice said in RL things I love:
I see your particle physics and raise you an astrophysics about water plumes on Europa.

I bowled a 115!
This... is not a very good score, but I've never broken 100 before. I'm excited. Just let me have this.

I knew I'd get some more money from my old job - I had vacation days left, and overtime money (which always gets paid one month after over here, don't ask why).
I thought maybe I'd get around a 1000 dollars, if I was lucky - which together with savings would've kept me comfortable till I got my next salary for the new job.
I got 3891 dollars worth, and I start a new job on december the 2nd so I will get paid again end of december.
tries not to go crazy and buy a bunch of things

I swear, with the world being as it is right now, it is really nice to read about someone in a potentially scary situation (job change) who is comfortable and doing well. Thank you for sharing. Yay!

@Sunny Quitting my old job was the best thing I did, even without having a new one. But, admittedly, I did feel fairly confident I'd find a new one - not hundred percent sure, but confident enough that taking that leap was definitely worth it.
I think many people underestimate themselves and get stuck in work they hate, because it is safe, and the unknown is scary. Just human nature, really.
I've done similar things in the past. Someone up here in this thread talked about getting rid of all their stuff, or most of it. I've moved all over the country a few times and each time I literally started over with new furniture. I once lived for three months without even a bed at one place - not because I couldn't afford one, not really, but because it was so liberating having almost NOTHING. I had a kitchen table and two chairs, a mattress on the floor in the bedroom, an armchair, a cheap table I bought in a second hand shop that I put a tiny 14 inch TV on, and a small desk for the computer. That was it, in my two-room apartment. Sure was easy to clean!
I stayed there for three years though so I got more furniture later on, but when I left and moved? I didn't bring anything with me (well apart from clothes and some of the china.)
