@Meg I may have, no idea. It was just a thought while I was changing a diaper. Which had me start thinking about other things pop culture insisted would be an issue. But good lookin' out!

        @Faceless, @Meg

When @reimesu's son was born I was one of the first people to take care of him. I'd had previous experience with babies, but not newborns.

So one day I'm changing him, and...yeah, you can guess what happened. Golden fountain! Right in the kisser. And he looked so damn smug.

I plan on waiting until he gets married so I can tell this story at his wedding about he peed on me solely so I can embarrass him. He owes me at least the good grace of being mortified!

I nearly forgot about this morning, since I was still half asleep! The Game of Thrones talk in another thread stirred it from my memory!

My wife is pro-Stark. She wanted to take bereavement days following the Red Wedding.
I am pro-Lannister. That's all I need to say, since it's the best choice.

This morning was the first time my son hummed 'The Rains of Castamere' along with me. It was perfect as my wife walked into the kitchen at that moment and the boy took her exasperation for enthusiasm, so he just hummed louder.

Blueberry waffles never tasted so good. Checkmate.

@Faceless I would upvote you, because it's a cute story, but the Lannisters, I mean really.

@Cupcake He won't be mortified. He will be smug. Still. If you mention it to him now, he will be smug.

I suggest laughing and pointing when it happens to him.

I love that quicksand isn't as prevalent a threat to my daily existence as pop culture tried to make me believe, while I was growing up. Pretty thankful for that.

Edit to include: I'm also thankful that having your young child piss on you while changing them is either easily avoided with good reflexes or simply not as common as pop culture in the '80s and '90s would have lead one to believe.

Yeah, if we believe 80s pop culture, apparently it's perfectly normal for teenage bullies to try to permanently cripple you and/or commit vehicular homicide. I'm glad that wasn't a 'thing' when I was in high school.

The complete Married with Children collection for $30 at Best Buy.

Can you believe it's 30 years old?

This. For all the fellow drinking game participants on the board... this. There is not a goddamned thing about pirate-themed vodka from one of my favorite small towns made by quirky people out of sweet potatoes that does not somehow make me smile inwardly, particularly since it is very tasty in coffee. (Well, as much as I can about anything.)

                              Oh fucking well.

I did it. I made it through Part 1 of the Television Writing class... and I got the final grade in today. 96. I actually made it through a lot better than I expected. I fully and completely expected to get my first C.

I get a couple months of fresh air (the class starting this week is about children's books and the following class is sci-fi/fantasy), then we take our TV show outline/treatment and spend a month developing/reworking/hammering/sobbing over it until it's a legit script.

...and then it'll never see the light of day because next season is New Girl's last. Not that I want to go into the TV writing biz anyway.

Saying the quiet parts out loud since 1996.

Holy fuck, who shops at Best Buy? That's like shopping at Walmart. I guess people can't be intelligent all the time.

I buy cheap shit at Walmart all the time, man. They sell all kinds of things for practically nothing. Since my tax dollars subsidize them indirectly anyway, I might as well take advantage of their artificially low prices.

The issue is with stores like Best Buy or Walmart there's very little variety, especially for tech products; they have what they have. So for example I wanted to buy a gaming mouse a couple of years ago and they had like... 3. That's it, in a huge specialised store... three options.

Then I went to Amazon, where I have a Prime account anyway, and there are hundreds of models to pick from, easy to return if I don't like them, with user reviews so I can make meaningful comparisons on the spot, and they're quite likely cheaper.

So, screw it. Local little stores are probably still ideal but if not and you got to pick a big chain then at least go with the best one. Ironically that's not Best Buy.
