Super dorky moment right here:
One of the rarest (by availability / cost / background yadda yadda) types of playing card in the world is 'Jerry's Nuggets' from the old casino of the same name. They're apparently amazing for cardistry. One guy (a magician; French one IIRC) bought all the remaining ones after the casino stopped using them, so they only show up for sale once in a blue moon. And usually in the $500 range.
But a card design company got the licensing to make more and worked with USPCC for the printing (often this company prints their own cards but they knew these had to be JUST RIGHT). People who have actually worked with the originals have played with these new ones and say they're pretty much right on the money.
The Kickstarter to buy them goes up on Monday morning and it'd be a lie to say I'm not really excited to be able to buy a couple decks. I've been collecting playing cards for years and doing cardistry in the past handful of months. Buying a few (some to work with and one for the collection) will be awesome.

Spending the last two days being part of the team putting on a community care event with free medical/dental/clothing/shoes/on site DSHS workers to sign people up for services/vision care/meal plus groceries/haircuts/hygiene kits/community org representatives for our local area. We served 1000+ people in 5 hours of the event. I am fucking exhausted. And we didnt put a dent in the problem I know, but it was nice to see those people breathe just a little easier. And I can't believe I have an employer that gave me the day off to help and paid me my usual wage too.

I do a thing which the homeless folks downtown around my office call 'playing sandwich fairy'. When I leave the office for lunch, if I'm going to go grab a sandwich, I'll make a quick circuit around the area, and any of the homeless folks I see, I ask if there's a sandwich I can get them at Subway. If they say yes, I get their order, then I walk over to Subway, get my sandwich and all the others, and then I retrace my steps, handing out the sandwiches before returning to the office to eat my own.
One of my co-workers asked me why the heck I do it, because "You realize you're not actually fixing the problem by getting sandwiches for five or six people, right? No matter what any one person does, it won't make a dent." To which my reply was, "Yeah, but it makes a difference to those five or six people. And if everyone did little acts of kindness like that, then in aggregate, it would make a huge difference."
It's like the quote from The Adventure Zone: "Do good recklessly."

It's so nice when a company is supportive like that.
There's a shelter for homeless youth about 10 minutes walk from my office. My company has, for years now, staffed the shelter during lunches; a bunch of folks will walk over and spend an hour helping make lunch, and then another batch will show up and spend an hour serving food (while the first group heads back to the office). It's not just allowed but encouraged to pitch in.

I signed the paperwork for new job today.
I start 9am next Monday. Casual dress (thank God no more uniform for me!).
It's a short contract (vs a permanent position). But that's all I need. I'm also working on my alternate teaching certification courses and I hope, by the time this job is done, I can have a teaching position lined up.
...in the meantime I'm just gonna be back to super busy like I was when doing my degree.

Coworker brought a fuck load of Popeyes to work for everyone. This pleases me greatly.

I'm just gonna keep posting good things in this thread and you all can't stop me.
The US women's soccer team is fucking awesome and I love this move. It's beautiful visual trash talk.

One of the homeless women I did this for ended up being my friend on Facebook.
After a bit more talking, I got her a seasonal gig at the haunted house that @insomniac7809 and I used to work at.
It made her enough money for her to fix the van she was living out of and make it back home to her chosen-family in Texas.
Two months ago, she got a job at a tattoo parlor.
Last week, she married her girlfriend.Fuck those people who think that one person can't make a difference. Rae has a totally different life 10 months later. All I did was give her $30 and make two phone calls.

Country Trap!
Hope it become a thing now real quick.
ETA: Real talk tho - Lil Nas X's story and hustle to breakthrough his career is inspiring. His EP is genre bending from start to finish (he's not 'just another trap artist' by a long shot). He's an extremely likable person in every interview. It's legit exciting to see him take off like he has. I hope his song breaks the 16 consecutive weeks at #1. That would be history making.

Surprise!Money from an ad campaign that ended AGES AND AGES AGO but the company keeps using my likeness.

IT'S 7/11!! FREE SLURPEE DAY!!!

New coworkers are already comfortable enough joking around with me. For my terribly awkward ass, this is a good feeling.
....downside is that thanks to my being neuroatypical, I struggle sometimes to know if something is a joke or literal.
(Such as: me asking if I can be included in a meeting and guy going 'No, no you can't be in that one' but while laughing? Like I'm assuming he was already planning to put me on the invite list and thought it silly I'd ask but! I just don't really know!)
ETA: Also, I couldn't live without OneNote.

My current laptop is in its final phases after 5+ years of service, as evidenced by its newest failure -- deciding I don't need to right-click anything ever again, I guess.
So I used some of my annual bonus to take advantage of the flurry of back to school and "We're trying to compete with Prime Day" sales, all without actually succumbing to Prime Day while Amazon workers are on strike.
Sale for a nice discount. An extra 10% off using my nearly-forgotten UniDays account. An extra 12% off with eBates triple cash-back day.
All in all, I shaved $400 off the price and will be getting a $102 check in the mail in a few months on top of that, by which point I will have likely forgotten about it and get excited that I suddenly have more money that I didn't expect.
....I may or may not have just spent the last several minutes making cartoon cackling noises and walking around my house announcing "I am a coupon witch!"

I've been having a rough couple weeks and today I woke up with that sick-depression feeling (where you're not sick-sick, but so depressed you feel ill?). It led into a super ADD day that was just... frustrating (frustrated at myself for being so damn unproductive, basically).....
....so I really, really appreciated all the compliments I got on my awesome rainbow socks. They were exactly what I needed.

Two things.
One, I know exactly what you mean. When you're so run-down mentally you start flagging physically. I'm so sorry you feel that way, but you deserve congratulations for getting through the day.
Two: those socks are amazing. I don't go for bright colors, so the muted/autumn take is SO pretty.

Isn't it?! I love those socks, I just don't wear them often because I don't own sock glue or garters so I spend all day fixing them in place.
But I was wearing a black dress w/a red belt today so they were fitting. I do also own a pair of bright rainbow socks. And these amazing Vans (bought to replace the grey ones I walked through...).
But yes: thank you. That sort of mental exhaustion is..... ugh. because you need sleep but at night you can't sleep and you wake up just wanting to bury yourself in bed all day and.... and.... I'll be glad when I can (within the week! thank god!) afford my meds again.
And a trip to the doctor to GROVEL FOR ADD MEDS FFS.
