So some dumbfuck lawmakers in Tennessee are expressing concerns about classifying tampons as a necessity -- and thus removing the sales tax on them -- because they're concerned that women will just go crazy at such fabulous discount and buy 'too many', whatever that means.

That is not the thing I love. What I love is that several of my friends and I have turned this into a chain of ideas on possible uses for a dragon hoard's worth of tampons. Among my personal contributions to the discussion:

• Combat rising sea levels by using them to build strategic levy walls
• Soak them in flammable liquid and then use the little string to ignite what are now weaponized projectiles
• Reduce tissue waste by just shoving one up the runny side of your nose during cold and allergy seasons

A few weeks ago I got a few plant kits. Lavender, sage, and mini roses. Two of the three sprouted today!

@GreenFlashlight Let's not forget these are some of the same idiots who think that periods are like bodily waste functions -- that women can just hold it in until it's convenient, but are apparently so repulsive and inconsiderate that we can't be bothered and would rather just bleed all over ourselves and everything/everyone around us.

I'm not sure which I find funnier and/or more terrifying -- them thinking that's actually how any of it works or that a bunch of people looked at these assholes and went, "By golly, they really seem to have things together. We should elect them to Be In Charge."

When I was a kid, my church culture taught that using tampons would turn you into a slut, because once you started putting things other than your husband's penis into your vaginal canal, you would not be satisfied with his penis and would continue to voraciously experiment and be ruined for marriage.

It is sad really. These are also the people who teach their young men and boys that they are all uncontrollable rapists who need to be protected by women and girls and even babies always wearing the proper clothing that does not draw any attention to their crotch. (Like pants do.)

There are so many really sick and ignorant fucks out there.

But yeah, in certain religious circles tampons are seen as virginity stealers or the gateway to whoredom so....not super surprised at idiots not wanting to fund women's "luxury items" that they might even believe are more pleasurable than their penis. (And they might even be right on that account).

The cotton/rayon blend in most tampons is bleached with chlorine so as to be that bright white color. You could be reacting to that.

If you ever feel the need to give them another go, as weird as it sounds, try an organic 100% cotton brand like Cora. I know that sounds like weird hippie advice, but I know women that also have reactions to pads with that "dry-lock" technology because it's basically just a plastic mesh laid on top of the cotton and, unsurprisingly, having rough-textured plastic rubbing against your bits can irritate the delicate skin.

If these men think that tampons would make women not satisfied with them, then they either have a true disability or need to start learning how to use what they have.

@Ganymede You're making the mistake of thinking that pleasure is desirable for women. The purpose of them is to have babies. Enjoying sex is not necessary and possibly even sinful.
