I check in occasionally to see what's active, I think the last time I did was about a year ago.
So what are our options for active WoD games these days? Looking through advertisements it doesn't seem like much is out there anymore.
-
@dnvnquinn
NWoD, no, not that I am aware of. Not publicly anyway.
OWoD there is Modern Nights and Liberation.
-
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
-
I would love a CoD MU* focusing on Mortal or Changeling (maybe Mortal/Changeling/Geist or Mortal/Changeling/Demon or something, if I'm going to get all greedy). Something that leans away from the psuedo-politics and heavy into the urban horror and fighting for survival against the darkness.
Alas, nothing exists. And I don't know that I could go back to a non-Ares platform, anyway. My last attempt - aside from reminding me of the flaws of the typical WoD playerbase - was painful, trying to navigate old-style MUSHcode once again.
But I waaaant it.

@pyrephox I haven't dipped into Ares yet. But the lack of anything else might drive me to the platform.
-
@pyrephox I also want this.
-
I've been having a good time over on Liberation

There is one CoD MU* on Ares: Obsidian Reverie. They're in a cyberpunk setting right now, though, so it's not exactly a standard WoD experience. But I remembered it!

Why do other games make their help files such that you can only find a help file if you already know what's in the help file?
-
@greenflashlight If I were to run a Mu* I'd place the help file text on a wiki with a directory. I have the time, just not the skill to create/alter a Mu* platform. I ran a godwars based game back in the early 90's but I mean, most the work was already there...But yeah, I always have a struggle with the help/news files.
-
@dnvnquinn Ares has a built-in help system that basically already does this, allowing players to type
help whatever
or searchwhatever
on the portal. Check the demo: https://mush.aresmush.com/help -
I've been puttering at cleaning up CoS' grid and database and can keep an eye about if people want to play there. Might be coaxed into running some plot, don't mind doing jobs. More than a handful of peeps, I'd need some staff for, though. It has code for ling/mage/wolf/vamp/m/m+, but I have it tuned to wolf/vamp atm.
-
@alamias I'm looking at liberation, can you elaborate on your experience over there for me a bit? I would greatly appreciate it.

DM me with what you want to know if there is anything specific, otherwise, I will try to craft something generic below.
I have two characters in two different splats there right now. I just last week started the second. Now, I will admit that the director of both splats has a //LOT/ on her plate, and as a result jobs and requests are dealt with at a pretty slow pace. Do not really expect a job to be done in a quick manner.
That being said, I am having a great time with the RP in both splats. While one character of mine is on the fringes of one plot, the new one just got thrust into a plot pretty deep.
The first character I had was wrapped up in kind of his own plot, that I am only now finding out branched out a lot father than I knew at the time as I continue to hear new things. I am really liking the way they try to do storytelling much like a TTRPG when they can. Sure there is the generic other RP by just hanging around the grid, but the plots run deep as well and they do try to give characters some individual attention.

Is City of Hope dead, yet?
-
@tiredewok Depends on if anywhere else has opened Wyrm or Neohandi or various other supra-ebil factions.
-
@jennkryst I honestly hope the super-ebil factions of the WOD are never opened for playable PCs in any future WOD MU*s that may exist. They are fine and dandy as ultra-monstrous antagonists, but fuck letting people play them as PCs.
-
@misterboring How about if they had their own game, no more regular PCs to interact with?
