It's delicious, yet you hate it?

I have a waggish sense of humor.

It's something about the smell and texture? But if I don't know it's on something until it's too late, apparently it's great.

It vaguely reminds me of a friend, who would eat just about anything. He ate belut.

However he was afraid of artichokes. I was amazed so I cooked some for he and his wife. First he said they didn't look the same, and it turned out that after 20 years of fearing artichokes, he actually disliked cauliflower. After about three minutes of thinking, he realized that that the cauliflower he had eaten had turned out to have a giant, dead, cooked caterpillar in it.

So sometimes you may need to recheck your causes. Or maybe mayonnaise is just nasty.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

For me it's a lot of texture issues. Instant gag reflex with the texture of a lot of fresh, crunchy veggies, for example. Which is super lame, because I love a good salad. The taste, anyway. So if I can disguise the texture of things, then it is sometimes ok, lol.
But yeah, as I've gotten older, I've revisited some things, too. Bright side, found a lot of new awesome foods. Down side, found a lot of new, not at all awesome allergies 😞 (Basically anything from a tree hates me)

@thebird Have you tried gazpacho? Easy to make, it has all the taste of a salad but it's a cold, blended soup. I don't know if that will ping your texture aversions or not, but one of my sons doesn't like the texture of a lot of raw veggies (he like the taste though) so that was a good solution for him. I could see it making it worse for other people though.

There is a video game out soon. People are excited!

And then some jackass insists how awful it's going to be, how shitty the company and publisher are, how anyone who preorders is probably a sheeple and on and on.

It isn't even out yet, dude. Jesus H. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Why you gotta take a huge, steaming ragedump on everyone who might be looking forward to it?

@thebird I thought I was alone! I too hate crisp veggies.

I'm still playing ESO. It's really awesome and I should have spoken sooner. When they find out you're a girl, people just give you stuff. And random people will tell other random people to give you stuff. Now I'm a werewolf with fancy Daedric armor and shit.

Fun? What is this fun thou speakest of?

Female gamers who use being a girl to get things in games.

(This is more of a peeve than anything else, but we don't have a peeve thread any more.)

And yes, before anyone points out my hypocrisy, I don't feel there is any; Yes, I have been given games because I am a female gamer with a nice voice. But Those games have been streamed or recorded, or played with friends, but it was still always me playing all of the game, not having something handed to me.

I don't know. If someone gives something to someone because they are female or assume the person is female, is that the girl's fault or the person giving?

Yeah, sure. I got super annoyed with a female guildmate who was constantly flirting and giggling her way to free stuff but on the other hand, dang, stuff.

Also I think it's unfair to place the onus on someone who might just be friendly when it takes two (or more) to tango. Or to expect someone to turn away all help and gifts because A GIRL DON'T NEED NO MAN or whatever. I imagine more girls get attacked or harassed than those who get free stuff. Case in point: http://wehuntedthemammoth.com/2015/07/23/gamergaters-attack-study-on-video-game-losers-lashing-out-at-women-by-lashing-out-at-women/

Or if you just want the article without the commentary: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0131613

And by video game losers, they mean performing below or losing.

Edit: So what if you choose to stream or record? You still got a gift, in the end, for being female. I'm not sure how streaming or recording makes it better. And friends share/buy games I ... don't see how that's odd? Maybe I'm just bad at this.

I've given two video games to people, both male. One I know decently well, and have some distant fiscal/emotional connection to, the other a male who "should" be a thorn in my side. Maybe some folks like to give stuff away.

Or maybe we're all programmed to give a little extra to women and children.

I've tried it a time or two, but so far it's not my thing. The cold throws me off and adds to other weird texture food-issues.
I've found that sneaking things in with proteins and a shit-ton of croutons help. (Yes, I'm aware the croutons negate the good-bits of veggies and salads...also yes I know croutons are crunchy, but it's a different crunch. .... Don't judge me, people >> )

I give stuff away to my friends all the time on Steam, male or female. I guess it's different because online gender isn't really an issue. But I really enjoy giving stuff. It gives me charitygasms to see other people happy.

I'm sure there's plenty of guys out there who give gifts to girls wanting to impress them, and I'm sure there's just as many girls using their tits to get free stuff. It's how the world works.

Yeah, I'm specifically talking about the "I'm a girl. Tee hee! I don't know how to play games. I need help! Give me things because I have boob!"

You know, like the woman who offered a fuck for a flying mount in WoW.

I give games to friends to, but I'm well aware that if my voice weren't nice I probably wouldn't have been given those games. But I never asked for them which is why it's different.

@Insomnia Prostitution is the world's oldest profession and honestly, sex for favors is hardly new or unusual. Good for her for getting what she wanted and being safe. I'm not a fan of demonizing or demeaning sex trade or sex workers.

There are always going to be people like that, and sure, sometimes they are obnoxious. They are also playing to an expected societal role (helplessness, less skill than men, etc). There's nothing wrong with admitting one doesn't know how to play or needs help.

That all being said, people will always play people for free stuff - be it sex related, friendliness or whatever. Some people are just good at asking for things. I imagine a lot of cons start with simply asking for a boost or handout.

Using sexuality to get something in a game is fairly common and happens with male gendered players. The transactional nature of what and how they get it is different but its still the same thing. This is likely unintentional of you but specifically framing female gendered players as the ones who are transgressive in this situation is coming off a leeeeetle bit slut shamey.

Female gendered players who do this tend to be more open/obvious about it because in that case, general female gendered players are socialized to be openly performative about it.

Full disclosure. Once upon a time, when I was a wee young lad, I habitually played girls in video games to get handouts. I sometimes wonder if my e-bfs from those days ever think about me.
