Nah, meatloaf and stuffed peppers make me really angry, I think this is the perfect place.
-
@surreality
I could get behind a recipes thread. I love creating things. -
@Bobotron There is a crafts board that never gets any love, it would probably fit there nicely, though.
-
I may even be arsed to start cooking again. Yes please.
-
We use to give the crafts board love. Then we went to PMs and then it died.
So we could put cooking stuff there.

Root canal.
Let me elaborate: Not the root canal, but the cost. Oh dear effing lord! The skill and the charge seem to be in line, but having to pay that much for anything I'm not planning on always makes me rar grr.

A few years ago I had just arrived in Canada and I was waiting for my permanent residency application to be processed, so in the mean time I didn't have insurance. I chose to pay something like $400 to get a few months of health insurance from a private company, and I bemoaned the cost thinking it was too fucking much.
Hah.
Two days later I chipped a tooth. It was a Thursday night when it happened, and on Friday all the local dentists were out on a seminar so if I wanted to get treated I'd have to pay a hefty premium, and so I decided to wait for Monday.
The weekend in between... I don't recall ever being in so much pain for that long, before or since. Holy shit.
Anyway on Monday I got to a dentist and... let's just say the health insurance costs weren't even 20% of the actual money I ended up saving once I saw the bill. Dentistry is insane, man.

As someone with like... $10k minimum in dentistry required and looming (I have the shittiest tooth genes ever), I feel you on this.
And that's not counting the implant I really actually do need.
We tried the 'student clinic' for a lower cost. Every single thing they've done is either wrong, or has needed to be redone. (One filling from there came out the next day for instance.) The crooked grin is also now permanent because they killed a nerve in my lower lip, which after two years has only started to recover.
Good dentist is worthwhile dentist, trust me!
-
I've been putting off having a tooth tended to for... almost two years.
Because the last work I had was a tooth being pulled. And thanks to my anemia, a clot never formed. A dry socket is singlehandedly the most painful thing I've experienced.
So every time I consider going to the dentist, my anxiety spikes and I can't do it.

LARP players who make plans and shit, but don't read the rules AND don't ask staff. Or players who read PART of the rules, then whine when the thing doesn't work how they want it to. It's not my fault you read the Status rules that benefit you for having Elder Status, but not the Status rules that go with your positional status.
I love my LARP but man...

I like to think myself a rational (usually) person. I'm not a crier IRL. I'm pretty calm IRL and laid back about most things. Until the dentist.
I break out in a cold sweat just entering. I put my nails in the arms of the chair and I start to cry and panic just being in the chair. Soooo.. yeah, I put off dental work. Which is actually horrible because it's the worst thing to put off.
-
@Catsmeow I feel you on this.
I wasn't so bad outside the needles until the clinic, with Ilsa, She-Wolf of the D.D.S., an aging tower of dental assistant with an Eastern European accent so thick you could barely understand a word she said. That bitch could make me bleed with anything -- x-rays, the suction tube thing, a sponge... (not kidding )

Nightmares. Nightmares that revolve around plausible RL things that could happen and you wake up crying because of the bad feels from the nightmares.
-
@Bobotron I don't feel right upvoting that even as a sign of empathy/agreement, but will say: ugh, lots of empathy and agreement.

Solidarity upvote and love. -
@Bobotron Mine last night was about Ancient Cat (who passed more than a year ago now) dying over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and... yeah. I send absolutely all the hugs on the solidarity.

About two weeks ago I pulled or tore a muscle in my back. I don't know which. It hurts when I move a certain way and sleeping can be rough.
BUT THAT ISN'T THE PROBLEM. The problem is every time I start to sneeze, I get a small twinge of pain in my back. And it stops the sneeze. I haven't sneezed in two weeks. I miss sneezing so much. I get so many 'almost sneezes' a day now and its like sex without orgasms.
-
@Admiral Find a good massage therapist but be certain to explain the problem. They should be able to feel if it's torn or not, depending on where it is. If it's just a pull, they'll help.

I miss sleep. I mean, sleep and I already have issues. But it's gotten worse.
I can't sleep on my sides or stomach anymore. Either it causes my right arm to hurt intensely before going numb (stomach, right side) or my hip to hurt (left side). I'm left with sleeping on my back.
...which I've never been able to easily fall asleep on my back. So I tend to lie awake for hours until I fall asleep from exhaustion. Which has been happening around 3:30-4am. My alarm starts going off at 6:30am.
I'm not sure if asking my doc about sleep aids will help.
