So my college has apparently setup a "public drive" that you can access from any computer on campus, to turn in computer or get special material from your instructor. Neat? Convenient? They insist on calling it DropBox, which is all over the syllabus for any teacher using it. "Assignment list is also in dropbox".
No.
DropBox is an online service that you can access from any computer with the internet. Not one I have to go to the library with a thumbdrive to either give or take crap from.

I can guarantee that if you point out that this is confusing, people will just stare at you uncomprehendingly. Those who lack imagination, experience, and (sometimes) smarts as well frequently don't understand when something is confusing because they pretty much just run on automatic.
I've had this problem with files on games as well. If a nonsensical or ambiguous thing has been that way for ages and everybody has learned to deal with it, when someone comes in and says "Wha?" the problem must be with that person, not with the badly or confusingly named or implemented thing.

Skype on Windows ... advertising Skype on Windows? Skype advertising anything? What is this madness and who do I ask to get fired because of it.

I'll speak to my friend who works at Microsoft. (I'm actually not joking)

@HelloProject
My legitimate gripe about Skype on Windows is that if I single click on a chat, it does not change focus on that chat, which means if I start typing I end up filtering the chats and not chatting. The Skype for Mac team knows what I mean.
The ads in Skype are pretty inane, but that is probably a marketing decision and we know that all Microsoft marketers are pure idiot.

Haha that is literally my friend's primary job, so I figured she'd be the one to poke.
Also yeah, I hate that single click thing too. There's so many significantly neater ways to do it >__<.

Ads in Skype are easy to block, actually! In Windows at least, I have very little experience with Macs.
Control Panel > Internet Options (or under Network and Sharing) > Security tab > Restricted Sites icon.
Press the Sites button and type https://apps.skype.com in the text box, then press Add. Restart Skype, voila.

One of my Midnight Pancakes did not cook all the way through. There is nothing sadder than the taste of pancake batter at midnight.

Midnight Pancakes sound like something one eats while using Kavinsky as mood music, in a dark room overlooking the neon lights of the city.

No. Midnight Pancakes are what you eat when you wake up at midnight and think: I'm hungry.

Oh, so y'all get the hell out of Dodge the last weekend in June every year, then? Good to know.
More Graeters for us, then.

Repurposing what used to be said about Commodore in the days of the Amiga: "Microsoft marketroids are the kind of people who'd buy KFC and rebrand it Kentucky Hot Dead Chicken Parts."

It replaced Lync. I was sad.

Wondering why I feel so energetic and normal today. Realize I forgot to take my medication this morning. Take it. Energetic feeling gone.
Sigh.

Got into an argument with my best friend about blackface. It has pretty much ruined my day.

Assuming that their perspective was a defense of the practice, I really can't math out anymore why anyone fails to see how racist that is?
Even if you exist in some extremely non-diverse reality where your contact with people of any color is minimal and the groupthought of your community doesn't know better because they've never had to personally examine this issue, there have been so, so, sooooo many embarrassing and newsmaking instances of people doing that. Even then, if you still can't grasp why its wrong, the public humiliation and shaming would likely inspire people to re-think solely to avoid said humiliation and shaming.

In her defense, she's from Europe. But considering that she knows how I feel about the topic, I just expected her to have looked into it harder before approaching the topic the way she did. It really upset me. But we're working it out.

Did this have anything to do with Sinterklaus?

So I'm watching True Lies on W (formerly the "Women's Television Network", WTN).
They CUT OUT the Hotel room dancing scene! It jumped straight from "Now remove your nylons one by one." "I'm not wearing any" "that's good..." to "Now lie down on the bed, and close your eyes".
WTF, W.
