...this. Very much this. I love my relatives. I love my friends. There's a reason we don't all hang out at the same time. Hell, different groups of my friends hanging out together -- or different groups of my relatives -- would probably end in some kind of riot involving creative profanity and violence (but surprisingly good food).
Bear in mind, I also decided at the start of this year I'm simply not logging into facebook or similar until somewhere around February 2017. Not in an election year, all the hells no. We will just not be doing that again. <-- the lament of the terminal libra independent moderate.

Except when dad would ask if I saw something she posted on his timeline, because I would have to tell him again I couldn't see anything of hers because she had me blocked. It was the price I paid for fewer Mars will be as big as the moon tonight! posts.

I'd always known my brother was very conservative. It wasn't until I joined FB that I discovered just how batshit insane and prejudiced he was. Some people say 'well, it's only politics' but no. It's not ONLY politics. It's a very clear indication of how that person think. What he believes. What he values. What type of person he is. As an example...
When Nelson Mandela died, he posted something like this (I forget the exact wording but trust me, this was the gist):
Thank you for your role in creating a nation with the highest percentage of black men raping white women.
It's axiomatic that when someone mentions rape and race in the same breath, the issue is never the rape and always the race.

If my family wants me to treat them like functional adults, they should heed what I say when I say it.
So, yeah. Unfriend them. If they bitch, tell them that there are no exceptions for family for many things, including laws prohibiting murder.

No. he looked like one of those unfortunate men who tho is now a college Senior or recent graduate, never grew out of his Sophomore year and never will.

I'm not precisely angry about this, but I don't love it either, more ironically amused.
At the start of the debate last night as each candidate was making their opening remarks, my dog went insane. Sure, he gets the zoomies sometimes and these bursts of energy, but I've never seen him go on for so long about it as he ran around and darted his head this way and that and even barked a couple of times (my dog's breed are not frequent barkers) and it was like he was possessed. He settled down eventually, but the timing was peculiar.
I need an old rabbi and a young rabbi.
