@surreality It's actually kind of amazing how many people I've converted by literally looking them dead in the eye and explaining, like...

"Dude. 'Privilege' does not mean you haven't worked hard. It doesn't mean that you somehow don't deserve the things you have. Literally all it means is that because of some random demographic you were fortunate enough to be born with, you are unlikely to have ever experienced this particular shitty thing and are therefore more likely to underestimate how much of a problem it is. That's it. That's literally it. If someone is suggesting you examine your privilege on a subject, all that means is 'you should maybe consider how much harder someone who doesn't have said random demographic trait would have to work to get to where you are now before you dismiss the thing that they're saying sucks' rather than opening your mouth and saying something stupid about it."

I said that to my friend Justin once and it was like the sky opened up and baby Jesus smacked him on the forehead and went, "Listen up, bitch!" in a sassy voice or something.

@Roz and @Darinelle too: just wrote a journal! (Apparently I accidentally wrote one before, but this one was intentional.) I hope brevity and terrible puns are OK.

I literally just heard one of the kids across the street yell, "Mom, do you love me?!?!"

And because the kid was being a complete shit, she just replied "No." That lady is savage af.

      PSYCHIC.

Have him hmu if/when he's single. Also, only if that selective ability isn't gender dependent. Also, I get top bunk.

Look, you have a partner you're happy with.
LEAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US, GAWD.

      y u so greedy?

I dunno. I mean, Mrs. @Faceless sounds pretty awesome and while I'm mostly straight, I could make an exception for someone who reorganizes and carefully plans my entire goddamn mess of a life and then rewards me for it with stickers and fancy coloring pens. I see potential for a swap here.

Editor's Note: He read this conversation over my shoulder and started cracking up that I offered him up in a grade-school lunch trade.

Like seriously. Is anyone who is participating in this conversation going to be upset/offended if a stranger pages them to say 'hey, you OK?' Like, regardless of what it's about? The only person I can think of that would be bothered by it would a- only be bothered by it because they don't like OOC interaction AT ALL, and b- probably wouldn't even be bothered by this question because it's human caring about another human.

I am notoriously crabby and anti-people and would be totally fine with this. Probably, like.... startled and slightly confused if I actually WAS fine, but at the absolute worst my reaction would be like, "Well, that was weird and awkward." Which is just, like, most human-to-human interaction, AFAIC.

Out of sheer nostalgia I'd like to see a 1990's setting. I want to see trench-coats, brick-phones and Usenet.

A friend was doing an online tabletop thing set in 1997-ish and I was so excited to be like "MY CHARACTER WORKS AT THE USED CD STORE"

I would play the shit out of Empire Records: The MUSH.

I am not sure why it makes me so happy to see lawyers talking lawyer things and helping each other like this, but it does. Warm fuzzies and everything.

Maybe the same reason I enjoy it?

It's an excellent reminder that not everyone on the internet is a mouthbreather from the YouTube comments section.

Dark, steampunk Wizard of Oz. It wasn't one book, it was a series, with all kinds of crazy amazingness.

Something set in the world of The Dragon Prince - the anime.

Something set in the world of The Dragon Prince - the book series written by Melanie Rawn.

A Mage game set in Philadelphia, which has all sorts of crazy occult history. The Skulls fraternity? Actually exists at UPenn and was the inspiration for that garbage movie. Harry's, the pharmacy turned occult shop that was opened in 1917. The Mutter, the medical oddities museum, because you know there's some weird shit going on in a place crammed full of jars of preserved human organs.

Dear Ladies in My Group Chat --

I love you! I want you to know that. I really, really do.

I also want you to know that when you've reached a point that the chickadee you have legit introduced at parties as "your angry feminist inspiration" is on the verge of #notallmen-ing you, it is perhaps time to slow your roll there. Yes, plenty of times, horrible behavior is the direct result of The Notorious Pa-tri-ar-chy. But not always. No, no. Sometimes, a dude's bad behavior isn't evidence of toxic masculinity producing anti-social behavior at all.

Sometimes, it's just evidence that that dude is a shithead. Lots of people are.

      ❤ ❤

@roz IME, the two fastest ways for a game to spiral out of staff's control is a) taking on more players than they can handle and b) not communicating (or maintaining) a fairly tight theme re: characters and their backgrounds. There's a tendency to want to be inclusive so as not to stifle creativity or be perceived as "mean", but it just makes it harder to GM when you've got the narrative equivalent of a dozen people in a room for a chess match but three of them have decided they want to go play the Monopoly minigame instead.

I am going to go visit my RP bestie of almost four years next month and help turn his awful breakup/months of couch-surfing into a "bring all your friends over into your furniture-less new place and we'll have a big camp out/slumber party in your empty living room" housewarming bash. Followed by a full-on Macklemore visit to the local thrift shop to help him get new stuff.

      I am excited. ^_^

I... am pretty sure I kidnapped a neighbor's cat today.

The problem is, she(?) doesn't have a collar so I don't know which neighbor. None of the people whose doors I knocked on recognized her picture. No one is responding on my community app. We're taking her to the emergency vet that's nearby to be scanned for a microchip as soon as @insomniac7809 gets home. But she's super friendly and in fairly decent shape....

I'd have seriously considered just letting her hang out in the alley behind our house where I found her with some food, but it's dropped 30-degrees in a week and is dropping below freezing tonight. None of the local colony caretakers have their winter boxes out yet.

So now I have this insanely friendly cat locked in my spare room, and four pissed off cats that are upset they can't sleep on the bed. >.<

@tinuviel Real. They're sewn closed, though, and I forgot to rip out the stitches this morning.

ETA: I'm plus sized (1X/2X) and positively loathe the oppressive anti-pocket stance of the women's fashion industry. If you're on MSB, wear ladies' clothing, got some junk in your trunk, and love you some pockets? GURL, I GOT YOU. I have a small list of retailers you can buy not-bullshit office-appropriate clothing from.

But, man. Fuck kale. If all of the world's kale caught fire tomorrow, I'd be fine with that.
