I'm working on a cowl for my sister-in-law's birthday. This is made with two different strands of yarn held together while knitting for a marled effect.

I call this colorway "unicorn poop".

And now he's having movie night in our living room with a bunch of people from work. -_-

His Xmas party is how we caught covid.

....Have you considered setting his hair on fire and telling him not to worry about it because he can just put on a hat? Because I feel like that would be a reasonable response at this point.

I realize that, as you said, the pay and the benefits, etc., are largely out of your hands. So is the behavior of the CEO. But I will always, always, always have 1000% more respect for any level of management that will get down in the trenches with their employees when the shit hits the fan -- or at least try to get them more resources and remove unnecessary roadblocks -- than absentee "leaders" who are just constantly bothering us for status updates and then doling out praise without having any real idea of the effort their employees put in.

Part of me hopes pandemic fashion forces people to actually standardize sizing across brands.

And all of me knows this will never happen.

The shirt sizes in my closet range from "large" to "4X".
This does not include men's clothes that I wear.

@reimesu This reminds me of my review of their Jacob's Ladder release, which is one of their more common Yules.

"I was really looking forward to this one, but I have the exact problem with it that it appears everyone else is saying they didn't have -- the amber in this went straight to baby powder on my skin. Fancy baby powder for a baby with a fancy ass that needs fancy scents to keep it dry and comfy in its satin nappies, but definitely baby powder. And I don't want to smell like a fancy baby's fancy ass."

      Skin chemistry is weird.

@aria I've got a few Sucreabeilles in my collection. I find that they either don't work well with my skin or my skin eats them, but I've only tried a couple of the ones I bought so far.

Yeah, I've definitely had the skin-eating problem with at least one of my Sucreabeille perfumes. Winter hardly helps, when my already dry skin likes to just suck up every bit of moisture it can.

For reference, for those of you who may be interested in other lines, I also recommend:

      • Arcana Wildcraft
      • Astrid Perfume (Note: Currently on winter break. Expected to reopen in February.)
      • Nocturne Alchemy (Note: Currently on winter break. Expected to reopen in February.)
      • Nui Cobalt
      • Poesie
      • Sixteen92
      • Sucreabeille
      • Whisper Sisters

If you want decants/samples of newly released collections, you can pre-order them from Angi at Ajevie and if you're into the whole luxury independent fragrance thing more than perfume oils, I recommend Perfumology. The owner, Nir, is a complete and total mensch and his mother is lovely and hilariously funny. Nir once tracked down a bottle of 4160Tuesday's Bodhi Language just for me, as well as selling my husband one of the few bottles of Buddhawood Box available in the US, and they're indescribably lovely.

I have evidence and reason to believe that both DropBear and SabotKick72 were DWOPP.

I cannot speak for SabotKick72, but DropBear was most certainly DWOPP -- or at least admitted as much to another user here. While I don't have the logs of those conversations, I can point you to someone who does if you feel you need it for whatever reason.

I saw this post on how you might get cheaper medication in the US and thought it might be useful to someone here? And then realised we might need a thread for collectively "this feels like it might be useful to someone here" stuff.

I highly recommend GoodRx. And Costco. Especially since GoodRx coupons often also work at Costco and the few times they haven't, it was because Costco was cheaper than the listed coupons, anyway.

Note: In most states, even if you don't have a Costco membership? They're required to let you in to use the pharmacy and the pharmacy alone because of drug regulations.

      <stares at work email>

No, Ben. No. No one else in the entire department is having issues with the application.

All three incident management emails which I wrote, the login error message, and the bright red notification on the application hub screen that I pushed out were all things I put together today just for you.

By all means, please send out a department-wide blast to 136 people, including my boss's boss's boss's boss to ask what's going on and ask if anyone can help you, instead of reading literally any single one of the five fucking things that popped up on your screen today about this.

Y'know, the ones that the other 135 people in the department managed to read just fine.

I have literally had this conversation with four different people over the last week, in response to some things.

Offering an explanation is fine! It gives context. It gives understanding. It helps to highlight that the thing, whatever the thing was, was not intended maliciously.

But that's not the same thing as an excuse and it sure as hell is not the same thing as an apology. Especially when it's done repeatedly and the extension of understanding and patience is only expected to go one way.

Those people? Those people people can go fuck themselves. Sympathy is not a free pass to be a steaming pile of shit.

I live in a rowhouse, so if my neighbors are especially loud? I can hear it.

And one of them has been learning to play FΓΌr Elise, which their toddler finds fabulous, and starts banging along on the keys next to them.

This would be fine and even adorable except they have been doing this every day, for at least an hour a day, since fucking Thursday.

I'm really curious how this applies in the case of medical marijuana. Is it still the same or, given some of the things that it's allowed for in my state are protected under the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, would this now be considered a discriminatory act?
I dunno, but I would like to.

Given that it's still federally criminal, it would not be protected under any of the ADA Clauses.

ETA: If it were federally decriminalized, your employer could probably still end up being fairly discriminatory, especially if you are around machines / vehicles / anything at all wherein the effects of marijuana could present a hazard to yourself or those around you, the same as they can with opiate / opioid substances currently.

This is pretty much exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!

In my case, TL;DR, I have major trouble sleeping as a result of some things it's approved for the use of in my state and have never reacted well to prescription sleeping medication. Smoking up in college right before bed is pretty much the best sleep I have ever gotten in my entire life and I would very much like to have that back. Alas.

Really hope they legalize/decriminalize it federally at some point so I can partake without risking my job.

As a note: It can still risk your job, even if it's decriminalized. Your employer can set a zero tolerance policy on anything, really. They do all the time with alcohol and tobacco.

Just saying, legalization isn't the end of the battle.

I don't intend to knock at you at all here because I think that you're right that adults generally do get more worked up than can be warranted, but like...you can't just flippantly assume that a kid understands across the board. A lot of things don't have a simple "that's just the way it is" answer, children don't have the years of context and experience that we do so a lot of distinctions we make can seem very arbitrary and hard to parse to them

Ohh, yeah, no. That is not a knock at all, dude. Not at all! In fact, that's pretty much exactly the point I was trying to make. Kids are super smart, they just don't have the context adults do. When we give them a bit of context that they can relate to, they're usually pretty good at figuring stuff out -- much moreso than we give them credit for.
