When I showed him my post else-thread, with reference to "cranking out chat babies at an alarming speed", he cut me off and asked me if he ever told me about the time he created "Chat Baby" as a Creative Thaumaturgy effect for Mage, using Time, Life, and Fate to -- and I quote -- "make a baby that is SUPER SPECIAL and goes from pregnancy to adulthood in six months, maybe."

I'd feel bad about this, except I pointed it out to my boss yesterday, who has graduate degrees from two Ivy League schools and is an officer at one of the largest financial companies in the world.
He thought I was a goddamn genius.
@PuppyBreath -- Are we maybe related? Because your family sounds an awful lot like my family, and my family pretty categorically sucks right now. It's been a long, slow slide into sucking, but they do in that special sort of way that makes them morally indignant about 'freeloaders' while also simultaneously complaining about how broke they are because my mother lost her job a few years back due to her own laziness/stupidity. But they deserve help, being hard-working Americans. (Read: white.)
If you ever need a sympathetic ear, please feel free to hit me up. I know how incredibly frustrating a situation like this and what it's like to be angry at yourself for not speaking up and 'being a bitch' -- both from years of being conditioned not to stand up to horrible people and because you were too busy staring slack-jawed, wondering how the fuck these people spawned you.

If you need help building a Changeling, seriously, let me know. I don't play it currently, but I worked in/ran the venue on HM for, like, two years when it was so big we had a waitlist. It's been awhile, but I know Changeling sheets pretty well.
@Apu -- That's awesome! The Kominas once retweeted something I posted about still going to their show despite being on crutches and I pretty much had a painkiller-induced hysterical fangirl meltdown.
...then, like, a year later I discovered their guitarist's brother is my mechanic. My fangirl meltdown was decidedly not the result of prescription drugs that time. >.<
It was simultaneously incredibly embarrassing and also The Absolute Best Thing Ever.

Any other general advice for giving the game a go?
So, I've been out of the (general) MU* scene long enough that I have no idea what this new-fangled Evennia thing is and my cursory (read: half-assed) reading of discussions on it haven't netted that much useful info. Can someone give me a rundown of how many crunchy commands I'd have to learn to play here and whether or not I'm likely to end up with a frustration-induced nosebleed from shouting obscenities at my computer trying to figure it out?
Things That Piss Me Off:
Being in a position most people consider non-critical, unimportant, and often beneath their notice.
...until you go on vacation and everyone flies into a fucking panic with absolutely crucial things they need and have no idea how to do themselves, resulting in you spending four hours working. On your day off.
TL;DR -- Being an executive assistant.
Be nice to your admins, people. They handle more of your shit than you know.
@Ghost -- I'm unsure of the purpose of this gif unless it's meant to recreate my general feelings of "What the fuck are these people doing?" I had for the last twenty minutes of The OA.
(By which I mean both the plot and the movements.)
Option 2 sounds interesting, though Demon was never my favorite oWoD game. Probably because when I played oWoD it was on New Bremen, White Wolf's official chat, which theoretically supported everything and tended to be a shitstorm of stupid crossover in which Demon wrecked things pretty hard.
Am I the only person who was wildly disappointed by The OA? I just finished it earlier this week and I keep thinking, like, "This is just like watching Stranger Things, if Stranger Things were about ten times further up its own ass and about a hundred times less clear in its resolution of WTF is going on."
