RE: RL Anger
@Auspice -- Well, to be fair, I generally try not to do a lot of the stupid shit that white people do. But the operative word here is, again, try. Part of privilege is blissful ignorance to itself.

RE: RL Anger
@Auspice -- Wait, am I not supposed to sigh melodramatically and mutter "fucking white people" under my breath when white people do something that is collectively stupid? Cause we do stupid shit. Like, a lot.

@Ganymede -- Didn't need to look it up. Already know what that is. Huzzah, working in medical research/pharmaceuticals for five years.

RE: RL Anger
@Auspice -- Shit like this is why I think Denmark's names register sounds like an increasingly good idea.
18,000 girls names. 15,000 boys names. Choose one. No, you cannot name your baby Adolf Hitler.

RE: RL Anger
@Auspice -- It was. So at least it sounds normal when you say it out loud. But FFS, couldn't you put Evie on the birth certificate and make all the private jokes you want about her being an adorable little Pokemon? I mean, seriously, at least give the kid a chance at not going through life until age eighteen with her head permanently hung low and a look of mortification every time she has to put her name on paper.

RE: RL Anger
Jesus motherfucking Christ, my aunt just told me that my cousin's kid was born yesterday morning.
And the moron named her after a Pokemon. AFTER A POKEMON.
This is what the kids mean when they say, "I can't even", isn't it?

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Cupcake -- This is why I have (legal) drugs. Ones that I take daily, and ones I can carry around in my bag in the event of the sudden onset of panic. I very rarely use the latter, in no small part because carrying them around and knowing I have them if I really need them alleviates some of anxiety. Huzzah, psychosomatic nonsense?
I recommend having something -- not necessarily meds, but whatever works for you -- that you can carry around and know it's there if you need it. Even if you end up not needing it, that reassurance is surprisingly helpful.

@Faceless -- Let me know what china pattern you two register for.
(Personally, I recommend something from Pfaltzgraff.)

RE: Where do you draw the line in having your character take what would otherwise be an "IC" action for them?
@Warma-Sheen -- I have, in fact, have exactly these kinds of conversations with other players, both to resolve IC drama neither of us wanted and to create IC drama we thought would be interesting and fun to play out. At least two or three people on here can confirm as much, since I had said conversations with them, and those interactions resulted in some of the most fun RP I've ever had.
With that said, the conversation is one I've generally only had with regular RP partners that I know and have some trust in, because "Hey! Let's deliberately fuck things up for our characters because it seems more fun!" is a pretty delicate balancing act and has the chance to trash both IC narrative and OOC enjoyment.

RE: RL Anger
Had my car checked out before a roadtrip and told it was in great shape.
...a week later and I'm shelling out $500 to prevent my front wheel from seizing up when I'm out on the highway and halfway across the state.
Great job on the check there, guys. I told you I was pretty sure I had a bearing crapping out. Maybe next time believe I have some idea how my car -- which I have driven almost every day for the past ten years -- works despite driving while female.

....I would play the fuck out of a game based on Melanie Rawn's two "Dragon Prince" trilogies.
This would be great.
Speaking of things with "dragon" in the title, I would also play the heck out of a game based on the Temeraire novels (His Majesty's Dragon, et al). Horatio Hornblower with dragons? Yes, please.
Unfamiliar! What is this? (Yes, I know I have the internet that I'm on right now but I care more about opinions from actual humans than random shit from Google.)

@Meg -- I'm pretty sure this qualifies as "justifiable homicide." I mean, you might wanna check with a lawyer. But I'm pretty sure.

RE: Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance
Re: transparency --
I can also say that's it's also absolutely not a secret who the staff characters are. Like, at all. Not only because they're not hush-hush about it, but frequently because they're running multiple scenes at a time and may be using a player login to run something while doing a bigger scene on their staff bit. And not in a "my PC is involved in this plot" way but an "I have multiple windows open and don't want to get posts/rolls/pages from scenes confused" kind of way. So, like... it'd be pretty obvious to the whole effing game if @Mercutio or other staffers had a character who was The Most Important Ever!!!! in every group. We all know which characters are theirs and can read posted logs -- a requirement if you want the extra XP for plots -- if we really want to.

RE: Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance
I currently play on this game. It certainly has it's problems -- as all games do -- but I've encountered relatively little flail-handing drama on the game, save for that caused by ancient players who are decidedly not staffers, but had been ridiculously favored by previous staffers, suddenly having to deal with the possibility of being called out on their shit by other members of their faction and facing the consequences. (One player who led multiple non-Empire factions and consistently sold them out to the Empire in exchange for hot sexytimes coming immediately to mind.....)
Granted, I will also admit that my one PC is in a rebel cell with the current staffers. With that said, 95% of the scenes our cell is in are run by.... not them. In fact, they don't even show up to most of our PRPs because they're too busy running shit for other people -- a source of much disappointment among our cell's players, but one we also don't complain about because their staff duties are more important to the game then rolling with us nerds.
YMMV, especially if you're one of the ancient players that's having a meltdown at no longer controlling entire sectors after not RPing for a year and being a perpetual turd on public channels.
