@derp Dude, if you need $50 for groceries, don't even worry about paying me back. Just send me your Venmo. It's fine.

@derp Dogs, man. Their love is whole-hearted, unconditional, and gross.

RE: The Dog Thread
It's really super sweet that my dog is very concerned about how sick I am and just wants to lay next to me and cuddle.....
It would also be much more effective if he'd stop releasing gag-inducing farts, like, right on me when I already have food poisoning.

@aria I remember that one! I just want to see Orichalcum done up in the suit with the oily black hair, looking like a sleeze. XD
Don't tempt me. At this rate, we're looking at "Riven players finding shit funny is how Crawfish's mortgage got paid."

@crawfish Now they need an Orichalcum McMahon!
The above was made because the below was made. >.>

Presented without comment, because I am still laughing way too fucking hard to come up with anything really clever.

RE: The Dog Thread
If it's any consolation to any of you with elderly dogs....
Dude. I cancelled my own PT because I didn't want to pay $100 a session, three times a week, for two months.
I did, however, just drop $200 on PT for my guy, whose breed sometimes only makes it to 10-12 and he's currently 11. Because he's otherwise healthy, I absolutely can't bear the thought of mobility issues in a multi-story rowhome being the reason we lose him.
They showed me some very simple exercises that I would be happy to explain to you if your little fuzzballs are having back leg weakness that are pretty easy and might help them strengthen up a bit. We're going to start tomorrow because he's all tuckered out from his massage and laser treatment, so he's currently sleeping (and farting profusely) on my feet.

@wizz Huzzah! It is very shiny and new!
Good luck with the classes and like I said, LMK when you're ready to start looking. ^_^

RE: Critters!
We've had the harness for a few days now, including a trip to the groomer.
While doggo does not seem overly thrilled at this strange contraption with eighty-seven adjustable straps and buckles, he does seem to thoroughly appreciate the help on the stairs and the hand up when he's trying to get off a mushy surface but his back legs are "stucked and can't get up, Mom!"
So I present the Help 'Em Harness, in case you, too, would like to convert your elderly dog into an easily transported suitcase with a vaguely confused look on its face.
I recommend this video overview for peak "WTF is happening?!?" dog expression.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@crawfish I know I purchased a whole bunch of cat pictures, though I'm pretty sure I have them all now? I thiiiiiiink there's one or two that someone meant for me in the queue somewhere and if that's at all stressing you out, please do not let it.
Obviously I can only speak for me, but.... though I bought pictures because they were cute and funny and clever, I also bought them because you were super excited and having fun and making real support for your family off them, which made me happy. I absolutely do not care when anything does or doesn't get to me if you're having fun making things and able to pay down some bills.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@too-old-for-this Ohh, man. My absolute favorite with projects in testing -- or any projects at all really -- is when you ask a question about the prioritization and decision-making process so you can try and understand their goals and that's met with a look like you just called them Bitchface McStupid McPoopypants in front of the entire meeting. It's even better when it's followed with the vaguely threatening insinuation that you'd better get on board and be a team player, or else.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@solstice If there is one thing I've found in business, it's the alarming number of people who refuse to realize that "It makes sense on paper!" and "This is a good idea!" often overlap, but absolutely are not synonymous.

RE: Critters!
My sweet Old English Sheepdog is about (by best guess) eleven years old. For a dog his size, that's about the equivalent of being an 80 year old man.
All summer long, his legs and hips have been getting worse.
We've been through just about every daily painkiller he can be on. At one point, between his natural struggle with his legs and the side-effects of the medication he'd been on, he couldn't take the stairs in our house without falling. Sometimes he couldn't even walk without losing his balance. We fortunately realized the worst of this was his medicine before making the decision that if he couldn't get around safely and was at constant risk of injuring himself, well....
After about three or four tries, we finally found a medicine that mostly works, and of course it's the most expensive option. (Love you, bud. Why do you do this to me?)
Still, it's been a challenge. Especially stairs. He's medically stable and in the words of our vet, otherwise "shockingly healthy for his age". I don't want weak legs to be the reason we end up losing him if there's something we can do it, so he'll be starting doggie physical therapy on Thursday as I mentioned above.
But even before getting him into PT, the place I called told me all about a special harness that, hilariously, basically turns your dog into a suitcase with the number of handles that it has on it. They recommended I try one for him and it just came today.
You guys.... he fought me every step of the way because he was so scared of falling and wasn't sure what this weird thing hoisting his butt was, but we did it. And when he got to the top of the stairs, my old man was so happy he literally bounced into the bedroom.
I am crying. I am crying because of a dog harness. I feel ridiculously stupid and so happy he's happy and so, so relieved.

@misadventure Thanks so much for that. I can't tell if you listed them in order of least to most funny or if these videos have a cumulative effect, but I was shrieking laughter by the third one.
Celebrities just being confused by thirst tweets is legit one of my favorite things.
But. But.
Being confronted with awkward fanfic on the Graham Norton show is even better.

Maybe you could set up a GoFundMe or something for donations toward something new? Even if just a temporary fix.
Please do this. I can't swing a laptop right now, but I could contribute on payday.
This. I can cheerfully toss a little bit your way.

RE: RL things I love
So I have wanted a pair of Doc Martens since I was in seventh grade, when my parents absolutely would not buy them for me.
And then as an adult, for whatever reason, I just.... never got around to buying them? Until a few months ago when I saw some on clearance on Nordstrom Rack. They came, they didn't fit, and they weren't available in larger sizes. I had to return them. Still no Doc Martens.
Until somehow, by some magic, these were restocked on the Doc Martens site. And I got a coupon for being a new subscriber. And they came in the mail today.
I OWN A PAIR OF DOC MARTENS AND THEY ARE SPARKLY AND I LOVE THEM.
