@Ganymede Eh. Will Smith is actually an impressive dramatic actor, when he's put in a role that calls for it. He's sort of like Jim Carrey in that way - the performance you get out of him really depends on the source material and how much the director is willing to insist that he play the role, and not Will Smith.
Sure, but the controversy isn't that he's not a good enough actor. It's that he's not a black enough actor.

@Arkandel I know, right? I was blown way the fuck away by him. However, Klaus/Number 4 is my favorite. He is just too perfect.
I was so sure Number 5 was just a very, very young-looking adult. Nope.
Which is funny (and impressive) as most shows that feature teenagers use adult actors for them even when the acting requirements are much more relaxed than this plot required.
But yeah, Number 4 was damn good, too. I wasn't too impressed with Elen Page though, I expected her to steal every scene but she was outperformed.
Umbrella Academy is amazing. My view is likely biased since I never read the comics.
Yeah, I haven't read the comics either but I binge watched the crap out of that series.
And Number Five's actor is really fifteen iRL? That kid has acting chops.
Yeah, this reeks of the same attitude studios had when Batman Forever bombed. "Audiences don't want superhero movies any more, we'll make something else".
Yeah, the problem wasn't what was in the movie that failed, it was that it was a crappy movie. Individual hero movies can be just as crappy, or awesome, but it's not the premise that will determine it.
