RE: The Haul
I got a kitchenaid stand mixer and a Dyson cordless vacuum. The vacuum wasn't in the plans but given that my vacuum decided to call our relationship quits on Christmas Eve, I decided to upgrade.
The KitchenAid is for all my gluten-free baking needs. I am totally jazzed about it. Also the color is so pretty; retro minty green.
I have a KitchenAid that is blue but I have seen that mint green one and envy.

RE: How To Treat Your Players Right
Here's the thing:
I fully believe that assuring someone that Staff is handling it, looking into the issue, and will speak to the person in question (if so warranted) counts as 'seeing results' for any reasonable individual.
Many of us have seen complaints go into black holes. +requests filed and closed with a scripted 'Thank you for your report.'
All it takes is a personalized: 'I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I understand this can be difficult and we thank you for coming forward: we had no idea this was going on and we will certainly look into the matter.'
Making someone feel heard is doing something. But those simplistic 'Thank you for your report' job closures? That's empty. That's what leads people to grasping around, trying to get answers elsewhere. Because they don't feel like they were heard.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I think one of the few cases in recent years where a company truly made strides as opposed to 'just slap a rainbow on it and make us some $$$' was Target. Because they took a holistic approach to inclusivity. You can find cards at a Target specifically for gay or lesbian relationships, not just 'eh, put some neutral cards out; those will work' type stuff. They acknowledged 'A wife may want a card for her wife' or 'People may want to wish both grooms congratulations' and saw it through.
I think, for a lot of people, that's the sort of thing they want to see. Sure, it's fun to have rainbow mouse ears if you go to Disney, but if that's all they have to offer, it sort of stings too to know that it wasn't worth the effort of putting any more thought into it than 'rainbow stuff = $$$'

RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC
I've mentioned before the time I was outright shunned on a game because I wouldn't 'make' my straight male character gay. That since I was a female player, it was expected of me and since I wouldn't do so for the people asking, I was labeled homophobic.
He was straight. 'Making' him gay felt even more insulting, IMO. But I got outright shunned out of that area (a Weyr on a Pern game) for not doing it for them (they thought he was hot, so...).
I've had lesbian chars and had other women approach me asking me to 'teach' them how lesbian sex works (do u not google?!). This is what led me to keeping a lot of my chars' sexuality under my hat as it were.
The most recent case that I would def. label 'bi-erasure' was a character who was very... protective of other women, but interested in both men and women. When she flirted with a guy, he had this whole thing of 'but isn't she a lesbian? She's only into chicks, right?' and seemed utterly and completely baffled that she could be interested in men, too. He largely acted like I was making it an OOC thing (as if I was interested in him, the player, vs the characters).
I find that's how it 'works' most of the time on the bi-erasure front. Whoever people see your character flirt with (or even BE flirted with) first is what they assume of their sexuality. Not, I suppose, unlike the real world.

For what it's worth if your not familiar with They Might Be Giants work in children's genres, they perform the Meeska Moosa variant at the opening of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as well as the ending song Hot Dog. They also are in Coraline with the other father song. They still do their own music as well and are touring in 2020.
But their greatest work is still what they did for Animaniacs.

RE: Emotional separation from fictional content
Maybe instead of getting a list of the YES/NO lists, if there was a pre-determined list of 'themes,' the ST could log in what themes were going to be in place.
The list doesn't even have to be published. But if it was on your 'NO' list, you could get an @mail:
'As a note, the +event you signed up for (#1929, Stuff Happening) has been flagged as potentially including the following:- Drug Use
- Domestic Abuse
If you wish to step out, please retract your RSVP.'
That way people would have their own sort of personal 'out'? Without any spoilers or peoples' triggers being directly/specifically outed anywhere?

I've heard interesting stories of African-Americans going to foreign countries and suddenly experiencing being seen as an American before being seen as a black person. It sounds like an absolutely fucking mindblowing experience, which is a part of why I want to travel soon.
I remember seeing a tweet once from a black guy in Britain. It went 'I am sick of being called African American. I'm British. #FML.'
It's a joke I've always been able to well appreciate.

Sometimes I make a quesadilla which is just cheese in a tortilla with Tabasco sauce but I don't think of it as depression food because I have to be arsed to get out a pan and maybe some butter.
I can make quesadillas in my air fryer and it is probably not great for me.
Spray basket with Pam.
Toss down one tortilla, layer with cheese and whatever else, toss down other tortilla, turn on.
Come back to it a bit later and voila, quesadilla. -
RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
omfg finally.
My teaching cert has been stalled because I need in classroom observation hours and none of the schools I was contacting were getting back to me.
One finally did.
So I guess I'll make getting back to my courses a priority.

RE: Depression Meals
last night for dinner I tossed a bunch of tortilla chips in a bowl, put some cheese over them, tossed it in the microwave.
I overcooked it but ate it anyway because it was there and I can't bring myself to 'waste' food.
prime depression (and a little bit 'allergies are murdering me') eating right thurr.

RE: Geeky Collections
These shelves contain the majority of my stuff. My bookshelves have a couple odds and ends, but this does have the entirety of my playing card collection (minus what's in this or that backpack or purse).

DEAR ASSOCIATE:
If you're actually sick this often, you should probably go to a doctor; it's concerning. However, since you always seem to be getting sick either the day before or after one of your days off, I might suspect that you're just a lazy malingering asshole who expects other people to pick up the slack or stay late whenever you're not feeling like working. (And since you're a 21-y-o kid who lives in your mom's house, I genuinely suspect you might not be aware that "job" means "you have to go even if you're not feeling it.")
I worked with a guy like this once. 21. Never showed up to his Friday shifts.
Acted all shocked and confused when I called him out on it and how I was sick of working his hours.
"But my friends ask me out. What am I supposed to do, tell them no?"
Yes. Yes you are.
