    • RE: A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending))

      Some people really love Mandos.

A lot of games don't have them at all (due to time period). Old Republic is one of those time periods where you can actually have 'em, so it'd be a shame not to.

They've got a pretty baller culture when you look into it.

I mean, just like you'd get some people going 'meh who cares about Jedi I WANNA BE SITH' you'll get some being the same about mando, but I've got a buddy who, when hearing about the game, went 'oh man I really hope there's gonna be Mandalorians I've had a concept I've wanted to play for years'

I think this thread talked me out of Outer Worlds, but in its place I need a good game to foolishly waste money I don't have on. Currently eyeballing Pine and Greedfall. Can anyone condemn or recommend either?

Vampyr is pretty nice, and I think it's still on sale on the PSN.

The only problem I've had with Vampyr is that the normal mode is a bit reliant on really good reflexes which is a bit hard to do with how clunky the game can feel at times with the animations. Some of them feel a bit inconsistent in timing so I get frustrated.

This seems to be a pretty common complaint, tbh. The story is great. The concept is great.
But the actual execution of controls makes even the easier modes difficult to execute.

And as someone who plays games as relaxation, it's why I had to put Vampyr down. I fucking loved it, but as I progressed further into the game and drove my own difficulty up (due to decisions made), it got more frustrating to play.

@observer3000 In case you hadn't seen it, I have a program where I will install an Ares game for you. The install scripts are also pretty copy/paste automated if you choose to do a self-install.

There aren't many experienced Ares coders out there at this point, but if anyone is interested in learning there is a whole host of tutorials to get started.

Faraday is lovely if you run into any problems with installation. She really is.
I hit a snag recently that had to do with the droplet being really silly, in the end, and she was amazing about helping out. 🙂

"Fine, get out, and don't come back."

You missed a perfect opportunity, Auspice. SRSLY. They wouldn't even blink, would instantly know WHY, all delivered with a very concise and apropos statement void of feeling or angst. Which, I hear, is the best way to have those quaint conversations with humans.

But then I'd have had their shit in my apartment.

I really just wanted that stuff gone. And the free lunch.

I picked up Cultist Simulator on Hallowe'en, and I'm... mild to moderately obsessed.

The format is super simple, one of those skinner box 'just one more thing before bed' designs (almost like one of those mobile games), which is a feature that really works in a game where the protagonist is consumed by a destructive obsession.

I picked it up at launch and I play it every now and then because I'm still uncovering... how to play it. Every time I play a few games, I pick up just a little bit more. It's a really great game to have going on your second screen during slow scenes.

I thought that the regular Way To Do Things was to throw their shit out the windows, onto the lawn. That's what TV has taught me. Apparently, people garner praise for such acts.

I live on the ground floor. It's much less impressive. 😞

A single success is a success. A skill at 3 is 'you are a professional in this skill' an attribute at 3 is you are /good/ in that area. Dex 3 int 3 medicine 3 is a damned good doctor, add bonuses for tools and operating rooms and whatever, you are almost guaranteed a success MOST of the time.

Agreed, here. My longest running character had about 5-7 dice in a bunch of different things, and with the occasional willpower spend or equipment bonus he always got along fine except with STs who forget how the system works and start calling for you to hit a certain number of successes to actually succeed at anything.

Outside combat and contested rolls against similarly overbuilt characters there's not much need for 60 dice in anything.

I admit, I do sometimes scale things in investigations based on roll results.

If Bob and Jim both roll a perception check and Bob gets just 1 success while Jim gets 5, I'm gonna give Jim more details than Bob gets.

However, this is also for RP purposes. It's less fun if everyone sees the same thing. It just becomes 'whoever poses quickest gets the clue!'.

Jaffa are not allowed at game open. But as you can see from the story above... this is just the beginning. Other races becoming available down the road as story allows is already intended.

9 times out of 10 I'm too paranoid to even try cooking basic things without a recipe. >.> WHAT IF I SCREW UP. Even my 'staples' are the result of spending a period of time reading recipes, watching YouTube videos, etc., to ensure I don't fuck up and ruin the meal.

(I also have not yet really figured out how my Instant Pot works, which means making that stew last night took about 3 hours. Like every other time I'd set it to Saute like the recipe called for, it'd end up shutting off after a bit instead of getting to the 'Hot' state it asked for???)

    • RE: List of active MU for a client database.

@ping said in List of active MU for a client database.:

@auspice We had the same thoughts that you do, so it's going to be a totally separate list. Plus, we plan to update it each release so it's not stale. We wanted it to be easy for new users to find active worlds without having to hunt through lots of dead links on existing lists. If the idea doesn't work out, we'll just remove it!

      Cool, cool.

I just know clients have had those pre-populated world lists that exist in your primary world list and I've come to hate them. I spend my first steps just sitting there deleting entry after entry because I want my world list just to be my games.

But if there's an import list that's wholly separate? And it is updated/current? That could really help people out, for sure.

I will note the above list is MUSH/MUX heavy. MSB is not a heavy group of MOO or MUD players, though some of us do play a few of them. You may have to check MudConnect for those, though I know their listings are... not what they used to be.

@Auspice the patriot bundle was so good but I still haven't played 3/4 of the games either

the sad part is that you recognize it, lol.

I will sometimes buy a bundle just for 1 or 2 games and I'm p sure that was the case with that bundle. It had a few games in it I wanted (VVVVV, Stardew Valley, Mini Metro....) and ultimately worth the cost.

After some feedback, tweaks are being made where necessary.

      Documentation is well underway.

I edited the die roller output to highlight 1s in red (otherwise it's still all classic FS3 incl. successes in green). If you should happen to want to make this tiny change yourself, I can share the code upon request.
