    • RE: Steam Card Trade

Thank you to those who have reached out. I am set now! (Largely from someone deciding to just, uh, send me the game- you know who you are and thank you.)

Also, I wanted to share this: https://github.com/JustArchiNET/ArchiSteamFarm/wiki
It's an app that was recommended to me that simulates gameplay to get your library to generate cards. Been running it since yesterday and already got about ten? cards out of it. So it takes time! But for anyone else who is trying to do the 'sell cards so I can get games' thing, it can help a lot.

    • Steam Card Trade

The reason for this post is two-fold.

One: I usually try to craft the badge during steam events and I'm sure others do, too. So I thought a place we can post our extras or ask for specific cards would be nice.

Two: I'm selling off all my extra cards in Steam rn to try to afford Phasmophobia (to hopefully then find people to play with me on stream!) so if you have any extra cards just taking up space and are willing, I would love to have them.

Finally got in at a free clinic. Telecom that's pure phone is awkward but hey. They 'saw' me. They're sending me to get x-rays of my knee.

I'm really nervous about what's gonna be found out. I can't even walk from one room to another without severe pain.

So is it ADHD to need music to focus? In HS (a million years ago), it use to drive my mother crazy that I would have music and like another task going while studying. She never believed me when she said it helped me focus.

I learn more and more being on this board.

It's a definite coping mechanism. I wouldn't say 'It's ADHD to need' because I know plenty of people without ADHD who use music to focus. There's a reason studies have shown the types of music that are best for things like studying, concentrating, etc. It does things to the brain.

For me though, it keeps my brain occupied. If I don't have music while I'm driving, I drive worse because the 'ooh shinies' in my brain get free rein. My mother hated this when I was learning to drive. She wanted me to drive with 'no distractions' (as if her and the rest of my family weren't distraction enough, yeesh), but I persisted and now.... I can tell a definite difference between yes music and no music.

@GreenFlashlight Not specifically, but when you can manage planet wide communications with any handheld device, is localized wifi worth mentioning other than as a downgrade.

I suppose I'm just thinking of all the times someone had to walk from the bridge to engineering or wherever with a data padd instead of just, I dunno, emailing Geordi's work account with the specs for whatever damn thing they needed to make the deflector dish do this episode.

The same reason that until the pandemic people thought multiple in-person meetings a day was required.

A few days ago, the cord for my Xbox controller stopped working. Annoying but at least I'm not totally sol since my ps4 controller works with the computer. But I had the Xbox one specifically because I preferred it for controller based pc games.

This morning my laptop charger died. Bzz-zap and a puff of smoke. It is d-e-d.

Doesn't this shit know I'm not even able to cover bills as it is? I can't be replacing shit.

I watched The Outsider this week. HBO show, based on Stephen King's book. There were definitely flaws, but I acknowledge them as being my own nitpickiness. For the most part, I enjoyed it, and Holly was excellent. I ❤ her.

ADHD/Anxiety are in the genius cat. Depression tho is in workaholic cat.

I told someone recently that I love playing FFXIV because it hits the perfect notes of dopamine success. But then there's days, like today. when I could totally login and ACHIEVE a lot (.... in a game...) but I just..... don't have the motivation.

@Auspice It reminds me of the rain videos I listen to sometime, when I can't sleep. It relaxes my brain some, but it doesn't do the tingling, whatever feeling others tell me they get from ASMR.

Yeah, I used to get the tingling a lot, now I only get it sometimes. But I've read up on it and not everyone gets the tingles.

@Macha said in The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves):

I have had a bunch of people recommend various ASMR videos and such... now I'm wondering after hours down the rabbit hole, if my ADD nature is keeping me from finding that tingling/relaxed thing my friends tell me about.

ASMR works for some but not others. I don't think it's ADHD related because I know people with ADHD (me) who benefit from it and I know people without ADHD who just can't find it.

Some people also respond to certain sounds more than others. A lot of the common 'triggers' don't do it for me. I find the 'role play' ones to be the most relaxing. I suggest GibiASMR for those. She's cute and has a wonderful voice.

Try this video: https://youtu.be/K3_2kvO2uKc (not Gibi but an ASMR that a lot of people seem to respond to)

@hedgehog I'm sorry to hear it.

Sometimes, yeah, it can be that sort of thing where life is just too much and it's too hard... but also, as we've discussed here on the board? You aren't responsible for someone else's shitty behavior.

Like, distancing, isolating, etc: these are all typical of depression. But people who...... abuse their trauma, as it were? That's not excusable. The suffering is, yes. Harming others isn't. You did what you had to do for your mental health. Don't ever regret that.

      Good news!

He got back to me. Last year was really rough on him and he shut down pretty much across the board. Said he was glad I reached out. We've been catching up.

I wish he hadn't shut me out or maybe that I'd been more insistent on trying to get in touch. But what's past is past and things moving forward will be better.

Approximately a year ago, I was texting with a friend and they just... stopped responding mid-conversation. It was an upbeat, casual convo. Catching up, joking around, etc.

I sent a few texts here and there over the following weeks, but nothing. The last thing, until today, was a message in November of hey I hope everything is OK, I wish I knew what happened.

I've fret over them some ever since. Because what if they had gotten injured? What if something happened to them? etc etc

Then this week, I saw them start popping up as playing games on Steam (I have my Steam set to where it alerts me when my friends are playing games; I know some people disable this, but I have a handful of people in my circle of friends where we're all happy to have people jump in and join us)... so I decided to reach out and say hi.

I doubt I'll hear back. It eats at me not knowing why they stopped replying. There'd been no fight. No disagreement. This person had been a really close friend since high school. It just came out of the blue and... it still aches. I don't think any lost friendship has ever affected me this much.

My shoulders have hurt p much my entire life. Forever. But this weekend I couldn't move my arms up, and I hurt from my shoulder all the way down to my fingertips. Ended up in the ER. Got given a narcotic, told my joint and bones are fine, so go see an orthopedist!

Have to spend two hours at my doctor's office to get a referral to the orthopedist because they don't know how to do it. Finally get the referral, go to the orthopedist...

I have bone spurs underneath my shoulder blades (not a surprise since I have felt for years like there was something sticking into my shoulder blade from underneath). I have tendonitist in my shoulder. Have to get steroids for it. Also, surprise! While the bones in my neck are in alignment they are -straight as a board-.

And I might have nerve damage.

      Hooray.

Guess I'll find out more in three weeks.

      Oof. I am so sorry.
I've struggled with shoulder issues for years- even after surgery to remove bone spurs so good god I know how rough those are. I will say, the pain of recovering from surgery was less than the pain I was in before, so if that is a solution there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

(Unfortunately I also think shoulder problems are for life, but that might also just be a 'getting older' thing.)

This but with my fucking task stack.

'I need to scoop the litter box, take out the trash bag, put a new trash bag in, wash my hands...'
while scooping: 'I need to take out the trash, put a new bag in, wash my hands...'
And at some point, I end up needing to throw something away and I'm standing over the trash can sitting in the center of my kitchen, just waiting for the bag I never put in it and I'm like

      ??? how
