I left my laundry in the car yesterday.
      I feel so stupid.

How did I go and pick up my laundry from the laundry room, drive back, and just.......leave it

And not realize until this morning when I was like oh I need clean underwear

      anti-depressants

      cute kittens

      when they work.

One of the most infuriating parts about anti-depressions is

      a) chemical imbalances are assholes and don't always stay consistent, so sometimes it's just TOO MUCH FOR THE DRUGS for a few days or so
      b) meds need to be adjusted every year or so

      ETA:
my frustration/depression today is finding a clinic I can go to. My knee is just getting worse. I'm putting off basic chores like 'take out the trash' and 'do laundry' because it requires going down/up the stairs from my apartment.

Called the clinic I applied to: no record of my app (and that was after waiting over an hour on hold to learn!)
Called another clinic: no appts until November and they can't book for November until October
The third clinic (that I've been able to stir up) is walk-in only on Tues/Thurs so I'm gonna go tomorrow and hope I can be seen...... or else I'll just waste gas and aggravate my knee for no reason (which is part of why I hadn't counted them in the first place; I literally cannot afford to drive out there over and over).

A former co-worker's daughter ran up to a tied-up dog at a public park (the owner was pouring sand of their child's shoes) and launched herself at it, trying to pet it. The dog- now spooked by a five-year-old it doesn't know invading its space without permission or supervision from the owner- reacted accordingly: by biting the girl in the face.

She's fine, other than a small scar above her upper lip which will probably get smaller as she gets older.

The co-worker tried to sue the dog owner for costs for her daughter's therapy due to the trauma, medical bills from the ER trip, and future plastic surgery to get rid of the scar. She was so smug and dramatic about the whole thing, you'd think her child was sucked into a wood chipper by her telling of it. The owner countersued.

My co-worker lost and ended up having to pay the dog owner's attorney fees. I feel bad her daughter, who is only 5 and wasn't taught that unfamiliar dogs aren't yours to pet at will. I'm not pleased the kid got hurt; but I was pleased that my co-worker's bad parenting cost her a lot of money.

People that don't teach their kids not to run at dogs infuriate me.

SO OFTEN at the dog park (y'know, fenced in area for dogs to play off-leash) people would bring in their SMALL CHILDREN and be all 'LOOK AT THE DOGGIES' and half the time the kids would be downright terrified.

This is an RL Thing I Love because it was a meme shared on a Discord server I'm on and it's so adorably wholesome that I keep looking back to it and smiling and it is going in the 'things that make me smile' collection:

Kids bring afraid of dogs is why, in dog training (I was so happy to have learned this and taught it to dogs I owned), the hand sign for 'down' is to draw your hands up by your shoulders.

It's the classic reflexive pose a child will go into when they're scared. Fists up tight by their shoulders.

Train your dog that it means 'down' and they'll come to an immediate halt.

It's a good backup plan when you do leash, etc, but some parent comes within leash range going 'Oh look st the puppy!' when you aren't looking and you do have a very very good and friendly dog but the child is not ready for it. (My Cleo was amazing and protective af. She protected me from a neighbor's dog once. She would body slam other dogs at the dog park who would try to jump up on me because she knew I didn't like it. But she did always want pets so she'd run up wiggle butt to someone new.....unless she got the signal and then she'd just sit)

@Auspice said in Euphoria - Feedback:

I'm not sure what the special sauce is to get people to generate their own RP vs only engaging when there's staff-run plots happening. It works on some games and not others.

Often, and this isn't necessarily relevant for Euphoria, it's because staff-run plots 'count' whereas other RP doesn't. Anything that isn't run by staff is social RP, and that doesn't count towards... whatever it is people keep score of.

That is, simply put, dumb. Not your take on it. People who behave this way.

Because many staff pick up stuff from the flow of social rp to run with. Because players are sometimes handed plot by staff that will impact the world / metaplot (I have had this on multiple occasions over the years and it has been advertised as 'this event pertains to metaplot' and people still don't show up').

It's just this....need....to have a Staffer at the helm. Like people need to perform for them. And I think it burns out staffers and hurts games.

But this isn't euphoria feedback and it's me feeling frustrated because I enjoy euphoria. I want to be able to jump back in once I'm over my current burnout but I'm afraid to run prps if no one is gonna care just because I'm not staff.

    • RE: Euphoria - Feedback

I've hit a huge RP burnout due to RL stuff. It's kinda sucked and it totally isn't the game: I'm barely logging in anywhere right now.

The idea of resolving plots via +job and having people RP out the results is something @Paradox and I have considered. Because we encountered the very same issue. As soon as we stopped running things, people stopped playing. And I had issues getting people to commit/engage with the plot you handed me. People would say yes I'll be there and then... not show. And I didn't want to run for a single person (though I guess I could've, but it felt meh for me and I didn't feel it'd be fun for them, either).

I'm not sure what the special sauce is to get people to generate their own RP vs only engaging when there's staff-run plots happening. It works on some games and not others. Sci-fi games seem to especially be hit by it these days and I don't know why since it's my favorite genre (and it's why I've been super hesitant to do my own sci-fi theme again).

Well, there it is. Reddit surprised me again.

/r/dogfree , a subreddit for people who dislike dogs. Who dislikes dogs, gdammit! Apparently about 26,000 people.

I mean, there are people who were attacked by dogs as kids and thus have a phobia of them.

There's plenty of people out there who hate cats and people don't bat an eye over that (IRL at least).

I began brewing my own kombucha again after about 7 years. I've been wanting to for a while, so I'm thrilled. Even moreso that it's been very very successful so far. And it seems to be really helping my stomach out.

I bought a few plants a few weeks ago. I am terrible with plants, but I keep trying (stubbornly). One of them is struggling, another is doing OK, but the peace lily is thriving and this makes me so happy.

Last week I was under the weather and my knee was acting up real bad. These combined with the general blahs killed my RP ability. I just haven't been able to get up and go when it comes to RP. I barely even wanna login anywhere. Channel chatter is fucking exhausting, but if I turn off all channels: I just sit in silence. I feel like having channels off means no one will even know I exist, so it becomes 'why even be logged in?'

But I haven't been like, moping over it. FFXIV has actually been really great for me lately. It's been relaxing and engaging and I've been playing with a few long-time buddies so I'm still being social and not just becoming a lump.

Night terrors. Started last week. Goes great. Screamed loud enough to wake the deep sleeper (my partner) and the cats (mostly Sagan - he turned into a bottle brush and hid under the bed.) Brahms sleeps the sleep of the sweet angel babies.

      I'm jealous.

I get them sometimes. I'm sorry to hear it.

I am fortunate that I have a cat who is attuned enough to me to recognize that it's happening to wake me up. She'll force me to wake up and cuddle her.

I wish I had something I could recommend. Mine have improved with time. But it sucks during. Hopefully the kitties adapt and can be there for snuggles when you need it!
