I was about to chime in and note that personally I find Stellaris far more intuitive than say, Civilisation 6.

But then I looked and realize I have 321 hours in Stellaris but only about 50 hours between Civilisations 5 and 6 combined.

See, this is brains working in different ways I think.

I find Civ5 (more than Civ6 but that's just general differences in the game than the 'overwhelming' factor) relaxing. I can sink into a game of it for hours and never feel overwhelmed or panicky.

But Stellaris? I feel like I can never keep up. I feel like everything is spinning out of control and as soon as I have a grasp of one thing over here there's five over there that I'v elost track of and I've forgotten fifteen commands all over again and...

Sometimes I am the fucking worst at self care.

I'm gonna be an hour later than usual (thank God for flexible hours) to work because my legs are pieces of shit today thanks to the storms yesterday so I slept an extra hour!

But at the same time I am here at the bus stop shivering in the wind because I checked the weather and thought 'high of 71? I won't need a jacket.'

Dumb bitch you have fibro and it's only 8am so it's only 60 right now.

On Tuesday I get to see Leigh Bardugo at an event she's doing here in Austin for her new book. Yeeeeee

I'm at the event, waiting my turn for the signing itself, listening to these girls giving a younger girl just starting high school giving her advice on finding good friends and it is amaze. โค

      Ahem.
      Okay.
      Joke reply aside:

I think a lot of times it happens because we are bundles of nervous little bunnies.

So what happens is we think: oh gosh this is really bothering me but I am utterly terrified to talk to this person directly because they might yell at me!

So I'm gonna hop on over here and talk to this other person and get it off my chest.

Here's where the mistake happens: there's nothing wrong with this in theory.

But think about who you're talking to and how you say it.

Does the person you're talking to know the person you're talking to?
      a. If not, proceed and say whatever. (But, tbh, you should prob be kind anyway.)
      b. If so, be mindful of what you're saying. Because it is almost guaranteed to get back to them.

The other part of being nervous little bunnies is that when we see one person finally speak up in public, we think 'ah-ha! they can't/won't yell at me now! there are witnesses!' and so we jump in and say what we've been thinking because someone else started it!

But see, the person that became the target is also a nervous little bunny and suddenly instead of one person pointing the finger at them there's two, then three, then four... and holy shit that nervous little bunny is pooping pellets all over the place.

Let's not fill the place with bunny poop y'all.

Mostly just remember: as nervous and anxious as you are, so is prob the other person. We aren't all emotionless robots. (And even the emotionless robots have emotions sometimes.)

Maybe let's stop criticizing this game someone spent time and effort making for people to play, based on essentially nothing. If it's not the theme you want, don't play there. I don't go into WoD game threads to be like "ugh I wish this was L&L instead".

Apparently someone has started stealing my dad's diabetes supply out of my parent's mailbox. So I guess that's a thing now.

I know medications are expensive, but jesus fucking christ you aren't 'getting back at the man' or anything when you do that. You're hurting someone else.

      I am so sorry ๐Ÿ˜ž

Fortunately it was his testing strips and not his insulin, but even those run $1/ea and he has to test 2-3 times a day. A neighbor found most of them in the torn open box on the side of the road, but the police warned them it's probably going to keep happening. Since they know he's getting diabetic supplies shipped to the house, what they're most likely looking for isn't his medication or the strips. It's his syringes.

Uggggh. Even then, you can't get those 'refilled' easily.

The first time my folks visited me here in TX my folks had accidentally gotten my dad's testing strips refilled at their home pharmacy in SC and the insurance considered the refill already 'done' for the month and so wanted to charge them full price. It took hours to get the other pharmacy to log it back into the system.

Can your folks get it setup to be signed for?

      Iโ€™m sorry, the Dolphins suck?

Right now, sure. But I live in Ohio. Thereโ€™s a reason why most people are Buckeye fans.

Donโ€™t you talk to me about the Dolphins sucking until you live in Browns/Bengals territory.

The Bengals are good roughly every other year at least.

ETA: Also, it could be worse. The Steelers have gone from 'solid team' to 'oh who left this dumpster fire in the middle of the road'

Instead, I found a person specialized in arthritis who was willing to nod his head and sign the papers and charge me for the consult. I'm required to go back and essentially pay this guy who has only the vaguest notion of my condition roughly $100 every Spring so he'll sign that year's batch of paperwork, and that is with insurance.

In the past, I've had to see arthritis specialists as well. It's just sort of what I've expected. Some have been great, others not so much. It seems to just be where we fibro sorts get slotted.

What was weird (man do we need a fibro or chronic illness thread???) was at the dentist lat night, when I was giving my brief-medical-history, the dentist was familiar with fibro???? I did not expect that. I mentioned it off-hand just expecting her to handwave it off and not even acknowledge it but she did. I was downright shocked.
