@Rinel The second half of book one really really picks up. Book 2 is awesome, I wish my dad would hurry up with book 3, I want to read it!
I just settled in to read book 2 this week. Bobbie and Chrisjen forever.
@Jennkryst said in Games? Do they exist? Where?:
@RDC We USED to have a 'all active games' thread somewhere, which I'll try to dig up (it may need updating, too. Didn't we want a wiki sort of placea? A new, freshly updated kind of MudConnector? I forget!)
But there's also Shadowrun: Denver, Star Wars: Age of Alliances, and Serenity is still up and kicking the last timeI glanced in their direction (and was shot down from trying to bribe someone for a copy of their space code, RIP)
ETA: Holy shit, that thread hasn't been touched in like. Over 4 years. What is time?
I think you were looking for this one:

@Auspice As a guy who thinks scars/freckles/vitiligo/unique thingsetc is super cool and pretty... I never wanted to be /that/ guy.
I've been with guys who appreciated my scars, but he was..... I felt like I was a......an exhibit in a museum or something.
@Rinel said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:
I'm sorry. I hope this isn't affecting your self-esteem too much; please treat yourself with love.
I'm trying.
Going on a coffee date and having the guy hyper focus on my visible scars and want to know all about them did not help.
I think I found what's worse than someone who is bothered by scars. That guy.
@Sunny said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:
I am sorry. That just sucks.
Thank you.
on the upside, when I was finally brave enough to go into Sephora and ask, the girl I found has clients with vitiligo so she was able (and comfortable) to show me some things and help me find a concealor that, while not perfect, helps.

My son has a big ol' patch of it on his foot, and a little on his back. We've been looking into treatments and stuff but most of what we find is so noncommittal on how effective it actually is, so I can definitely commiserate there. That sucks.
At the very beginning, it was just turning my eyelashes white and I was like okay, this is kind of amusing and mascara is a fix. W/e.
But it began spreading... I've heard there's not really good, solid treatments, yeah.
Super fucking depressed right now.
Over the last few years, I've been developing vitiligo. It started around my eyes, with a loss of color (and before you go 'well hey at least you don't have dark circles!' it's actually much harder to balance out skintone this way: most products are made for dark circles), then began showing up in places on my hands.
As of today, I'm seeing it around one side of my mouth.
I already have enough self-esteem issues when it comes to my appearance. This is just... solidly in the camp of 'not fair.'
I have hella respect for people who can do needles. I can't. I am terrified of needles.
Character A keeps a secret for a good reason.
What grinds my gears is when the secret is kept for no fucking reason at all. It's only there to generate cheap drama. It's such lazy writing.
I hate it, too, but I just really hate the cycle of some of the shit. Like Joe keeping the truth about Iris' mom from her. He had a really damn good reason and she held it over him way too long. Like she was more upset about 'omg daddy kept a secret' than the actual contents of it.
Joe is the best TV dad how dare you Iris
CW Show Formula:
Character A keeps a secret for a good reason.
Character B finally finds out.
Character B: OMG HOW DARE YOU LIE TO ME.
Character A: I had good reason but I'll never do it again.
M. Night Shamalama-style plot-twist: CHARACTER B IS ALSO KEEPING A SECRET, STAY TUNED NEXT WEEK WHEN CHARACTER A FEELS BETRAYED.
It gets old, fast.

@Auspice Didn't recognize that meme. If so, oh, hell yeah.
Character from the Sopranos.
I mean, there's a CHANCE someone legit made an account 2 days ago, specifically using a Sopranos character name/face, but I reeeeeeeeally doubt it.
@surreality said in Cyberrun:
@Auspice Oh, it's him again? Le sigh. No wonder the question was so completely irrelevant and dirt stupid.
Yeeeeeep. Account created 2 days ago? Using a meme or RL reference for name/photo?
Def. him.
@surreality said in Cyberrun:
@Paulie-Walnuts No clue, and I don't particularly care.
Not remotely relevant to the point in any case.
If the question is 'how would you feel about these two sex games being added to a parental control filter'? The answer is 'anything that is meant for an 18+ audience should be added to that filter, not just two sex games'.
It's not complicated.
I don't recommend engaging the troll.
