      @Auspice - My employer literally retains a "health care advocate" now; if the insurance gives trouble, we can just email her the details, and she can go snarl and breathe fire at UHC on our behalf. Which is an improvement inasmuch as now I won't have to go snarl and breathe fire at them (I am not good at snarling), but it's really freaking sad that this is a thing we actually need.

      ETA: Ugh topiramate. I hate that medication. And if it's not even working right anymore... I hope you find what works for you, I really do.

      I hate the side effects of topiramate, but I hate the migraines without it even more.

      I'm back up to 3-4 days a week. Near daily episodes of vertigo. And my eyesight being fucked a lot of the time.

      I honestly haven't felt entirely safe to drive home from work a few nights this month, but....no other choice.

      @Auspice - my insurance has tried to pull that shit.

      So, I'd like to try injections into my scalp, although "like" may be too strong a term. "Oh, well, we don't really want to cover that procedure. Hey, have you tried pills?" YES. ALL OF THEM. For more than half of my life.

      Fine, I'll try to get aimovig instead. "Oh, have you considered injections?" Screw you, you spent two years telling me you wouldn't cover those until all other options had been tried! Now you want me to try it? No, we're going with what the neurologist suggested!

      "Oh, we'll only cover aimovig for people with intractable chronic migraines." What the hell do you think I have?! "You need to exceed a certain number of days off headache per month. How many did you have last month?" 18 days. If you want to count the constant lower severity migraine that never goes away, 31. "Yeah, if the migraine is a baseline state it doesn't count as a migraine attack. And you need attacks on more than 22 days a month for us to classify you as suffering chronic migraines and cover aimovig." Are you shitting me?! Because my migraine never goes away it counts as baseline and thus not chronic?!

      Long story short, I gave up on the insurance, got the aimovig anyway, and thank god because it has been life-changing. Also UnitedHealthcare is terrible and should be taken out and put in the trash.

      I hope your new insurance is better about this than your current (or mine); good luck!

      Honestly, if my current insurance is just going to flat out deny it (there was no 'try these other things first,' just a simple no).... I'd rather have UHC back. At least I got to where I could usually convince them when they'd pull those sort of things.

      But I just can't afford $215 per injection. And I need the two so we can figure out if the doctor's theory is right (that my occipital nerves are and have been inflamed for a long time). He said the steroid shot, if it helped, would provide pain relief for a time and confirm the theory.

      I just want....something. The topiramate doesn't work anymore and he wants me to scale back my dose anyway. He said the level I've been on is what he'd usually prescribe for seizures.

      @faraday here's an idea ๐Ÿ™‚

      BSG may have run its course, but the same methods/FS3 could be applied to an Apocalypse-Era Terminator game based out of a safe zone while rebels are fighting Skynet.

      Belatedly... Iโ€™m sure that would work system-wise.

      My experience with BSG though is that folks are generally more interested in the Top Gun aspects than the post-apoc guerilla aspects, so I wonder if thereโ€™d be traction for battling SkyNet in a ruined world. (Unless you subscribe to the Salvation timeline where theyโ€™ve got A10s for some inexplicable reason.)

      In a similar vein though is Falling Skies, which is probably going to be my next project.

      Mmmm. A10s in Terminator setting....

      lol
      My insurance doesn't cover anything they consider a 'surgical procedure' which awesomely includes the injections my new doctor for my migraines would like to do.

      Welp. Maybe I'll get this new job on Monday and have better insurance through them.

      @Arkandel I'm not sure why you're sighing?

      I'm guessing, since it wasn't from a team member, that the person in question only saw the interviewee and didn't interact with her. So the request has the underlying tone of '.....hire her because I think she's hot'

      @TiredEwok this all sounds like wonderful news! I'm glad to hear it and wish you luck for the road ahead.

      I'm really glad the doctor is doing right by him. All too often people do get rushed out (sometimes to clear beds sometimes because the doctor isn't taking things seriously enough), so I'm very happy for you and your kid that you have a good doctor on your team.

      @Auspice Ok, thanks. I figured it was worth checking in on, just in case.

      Of course! I'm happy to answer questions. Some things will have to wait for later to be revealed.

      Looking at your post history, though, it looks like you're seeking a space system sort of game. Ours won't be that, but I do know @Jennkryst has expressed an interest in one. I'd play a game with one. I think there's a few IPs that'd lend well to it and I've theorized how good Evennia would be for it in the past.

      What is this going to be coded in? I'm starting to feel the best way I can participate is to help code and this would be a perfect project for it I think (I even mentioned doing a Stargate Universe based game in another thread, but it didn't get nearly this level of response).

      The game is built in Ares. Which means, thankfully, we have the vast majority of the code needed for our purposes. It's also appealing, as has been brought up on MSB before, for how well it handles asynchronous play.

      Right now there's only one coding project in the works and it's not anything necessary to the game's operation. It's just a pet project of my own (that I'd like to see / is a good opportunity to learn Ruby).

      As of right now, most work being done is on testing what's in place, finalizing website details, and preparing story.

      @Auspice Setting pitch:

      California, post Independence Election. A Boomtown in the Great Maze, about in the middle of California. The town is spread over two islands connected to each other and the mainland by bridges. North island deals with the Union, south Island deals with the Confederacy. Mainland has the rail connections to the rest of the continent.

      My idea had been to take a real life town from the western expansion, study its history, and fold those events in alongside the usual Deadlands wackiness.

      @Jennkryst I love space sims, too. When I first came across Evennia my immediate thought was how extensive a space system you could design in python. But I am a baby coder so I could never make it happen.

      I desperately want a Bardugoverse game. Honestly the Arx code base would probably work well for one once adjusted.

      I debated working on one briefly (in Ares) before Stargate, but the idea of doing it solo was a bit overwhelming.
