@Auspice Gimme a bit and I'll update again.

I got a birthday 2 weeks from now and a tattoo appointment next Friday. Busy time and not a lot of time to spare before Jult. Will have to read up.

If I'm good to go I'll post a notice (if I'm gonna do it) to PM me for details.

The only birthday that matters was last week.

@Auspice hah. I know. Lemme look through the book and see if I'm down for it.

I'm attending/staffing a game convention in July that may need extra GMs, so a few playthroughs OTT to polish the session, before the con might be in order.

I would need beta testers. Beta players? Testers.

I'd be all for it. I'm trying to find ways to budget in pre-ordering this and I can't but oh god I want.

@Auspice What kind of allergy pills for cats?

loratadine. I just end up getting the otc claritin type stuff vs. being like 'hey vet plz let me pay a crazy amount for what is essentially just plain claritin'

I have come to learn that every so often with cats, you play yourself.

I have to give AJ these allergy pills sometimes. Not every day, but sometimes. And he is an utter terror about being given medications. So I decided to try these 'pill pockets' (https://www.amazon.com/Feline-Greenies-Pockets-Treats-Chicken/dp/B001FSJCPK). And damn if they didn't work like a charm. He gobbles the things up. He loves them.

...he loves them so much he expects one every day and if he hasn't had his, he will start nipping at my ankle towards the day's end in demand for it.

      Goddamnit.

But at the same time: I'm dealing with my shit. I'm there to support my closest friends. I don't have the capacity for everyone else's, too. So if you (general you) come to me wanting to go on about a bad situation....my advice will generally be: gtfo that situation. Walk away. What's best for your mental health is usually just to leave. And also btw to stop trying to drag me in because it ain't my circus damnit.

      1. If trusted individual who can be relied upon to be truthful tells you that it is indeed a problem, take a deep breath and go to staff.

To be perfectly frank, I feel like a lot of people around here may not be receiving the level of honesty they think they are. Especially if everyone around here is as anxious as it appears.

Being honest with someone - truly honest - is terrifying. Because you fear they'll lash out. They'll get angry. They'll resent you. So either you say placating things (aka what you think they want to hear) or you hold your tongue altogether. I have a tendency to fall into the latter with people I don't trust and/or don't know very well.

But if someone really is your friend, they'll handle you telling them you're being an idiot or that you've taken something too far. I think @Tinuviel revels in calling me an idiot, to be honest. Yes, they might sulk over it a bit (after all no one really enjoys being called out), but the key word here is handle.

But if all of your friends always agree with everything you do....chances are they aren't being honest with you. No one is perfect. We pretend to be vampires on the internet for fuck's sake. We are some twisted mother fuckers.

I just know we see a lot of posts along the lines of 'this thing happened on a game and it really upset me and staff won't do anything'

And my reply 9 times out of 10 is gonna be: leave that place. It ain't worth the struggle.

I don't want to find myself being labeled a victim shamer for that.

I think it takes strength to walk away. To decide no, I'm not going to put up with this. To say fuck you and fuck your cow.

But at the same time: I'm dealing with my shit. I'm there to support my closest friends. I don't have the capacity for everyone else's, too. What is the line, though, between taking care of yourself (such as leaving a game that has a bad environment / has staff unwilling to take care of a problem) and expecting everyone else to take care of you because you won't take care of yourself?

Because sometimes I see things on these boards that starts to slip into the latter a bit and anyone who backs off and goes 'woah woah I can't be expected to take care of someone else's mental health' starts being accused of victim shaming/blaming and I am very not okay with that.

I have a new pillow. It is a grey snek. The tail goes through the mouth and it basically donuts around the neck - while vibrating a soothing neck massage. It's perfect for people like me that sleep sitting up & sometimes find their head drooping to one side, as it keeps the head upright and shoulders relaxed.

Where do I get this snek?

ANYWAY. My teasing of @faraday aside...

I've talked to @Ghost about this and we are also on opposite ends of the argument here (so v. much agree to disagree) and I have had experiences similar to @Rook.

The last time I tried to play on a game in a capacity of 'I am not sharing who I am, I am not discussing who I am, etc etc' (for a variety of reasons not the least of which my RL was a mess at the time and I wanted a nice big divide between game time and RL time)....... I couldn't get involved.

People didn't seem to want to RP with me (and you've all, I believe, seen how vocal I am on the it's not hard to get RP if you offer it along with hooks! front). People didn't engage me. People didn't bring me in for plots (I had many offers of 'sure, I'll include you!' suddenly dissipate into thin air). It was this wildly passive aggressive landscape where people would give the air of politeness and respect when they were directly dealing with me and then snub me and turn their backs the instant we weren't in the same 'space.'

But when I have identified myself, even in spaces where I'm around people I may not be on the best of terms with and I just play the game even if I am saying 'Hi, I'm Auspice!' ... I have a much better time.
