Got an interview lined up tomorrow with an uncertain company. I think they're one of those who advertise for marketing and then it's a "whoops! Haha! We're actually in store sales teams!" but the job description doesn't list that and is a higher salary than those usually pay.

So meh. They're only a couple miles from my apartment and it's a meet and greet sort of interview. So I'll hear it out.

But! I also got contacted by a recruiter at Dell about a position on their Alienware / gaming team for social media management. Pay there would be almost twice what I'm making. So imma push for that one really hard.

Really I just want a new fucking job. Been applying to 3-4 places a day, but absolutely nothing back yet.

I was asked, on Thursday, if I could put up a world cup bracket in the office. I said sure. There were no caveats, no "if..." Just the request from our HR guy.

I let my project manager know (left a message as he was unavailable) that I was taking some time out of my shift each day to do so. About 45 minutes each day.

Had an email today chewing me out for doing so with a "I talked to (HR guy) and he said he told you to only do it if you had availability outside of your normal work."

No. I was never told any such thing. I was just asked to take care of it.

This sort of backtracking is annoyingly common at my job and because I'm not management, no one ever believes me.

Reason #1834 that I need a new job.

oWoD games (and Mind/Corr/Life says to me that's what it was) were sort of wastelands of 'what the dice says, goes' from what I've heard (and the little bit I experienced before swearing them off).

For all their issues (many of which exist on other games, mind) now, nWoD games are a much much better place.

You're just saving them for later.

For weather, I like a succinct +weather option. Then I can check it before the scene and decide whether or not to integrate it. Random emits are often not in sync with the RP of the scene, either.

@faraday - as for personal emits, if they're tied to character 'status' (like injuries, for example), they can give me inspiration or help keep me on track.

I like personal emits that are very infrequent (we're talking 'you might go an entire day without seeing one') that relate to the state of your PC / their sheet / etc.

But I wholly agree that ambience ones can conflict with the scene at hand. Additionally, you're stuck cleaning Yet Another Thing from your logs and unless they have a tag on them (like '<AEmit>'), they're a PITA to locate in said log to scrub out.

I have progressives (the sun-changey-ones?) for my other pair of glasses. I think I'd prefer prescription sunglasses, tbh, but then I'd be on 3 pairs. 'Cause while I could get bifocals or some shit, that'd be a pain for gaming.

You do know that it's much, much cheaper to get glasses online? Especially if you take a strong prescription. I've been doing so for years and never had a bad experience.

I need the exam, too. It's been a couple years. I may well buy the glasses themselves online after, but I have to go through the whole shebang. I'm just tired of squinting even when wearing 'em.

I also need two pairs since I'm near & far-sighted. I want Gunnars again for computer/indoor use because oh man they are amazing. I never want to go to something else.
