I think I may have underestimated how much more my new position would get me. I'm not even fully on the new project (I still do 10 hours a week on an old one) and my paycheck is already much better.

If nothing goes awry, I think I can have a car within 4, 5 months (there's other things I need to do on the way, like oh god I need new glasses).

I will buy anything Bethesda. Forever. All the time.

      Gimme.

(It's all about the story for me; I can survive the bugs.)

As of this past weekend, I am done with school.
Graduation is next weekend (couldn't afford the time off / travel, so no ceremony or anything for me).

Got an email today from my instructor asking if my portfolio website (the big final thing we had to do) could be used to showcase in a blog the school is putting together as an example of good site design. I did not expect that.

I feel kind of weird just...... post-school. Like do I celebrate? Or what?
All I have from my family is my father giving a pretty much 'about time' and 'you're lucky you're still the first of your siblings to get a degree, since you waited so long.'

The biggest issue with the flowchart is it gives suuuuuper little information. So people who do not have a certain level of knowledge going in are just blindsided.

I think that is why it doesn't feel 'right.' IMO it's more of a reference chart than a 'learn to Mage' chart.

I saw it once before I knew Mage and noped right out. But now that I do know Mage, it's something that could be a helpful tool.

@auspice do you have no friends with vehicles that could give you a ride?

I moved to where I am sight unseen. And I've been so busy with work + school (never mind the difficulties of not having a car) that I know just a couple of people outside of my coworkers.

One of said people also doesn't drive. The others' days off are on days I do work.

Slept badly on my bad shoulder the other day. I think I pinched a nerve.

Only way I slept last night was with an oxy (last one I have. :(.) and ambien.

And it's too close to payday to afford the lyft ride to an urgent care plus copay.

Just hoping the mix of heat, ice, and stretching exercises helps eventually.

Hey guys, why not take the 1e vs 2e discussion to a new thread rather than clutter the ad?

      Thanks.

@auspice I don't mind offering a ride every once in a while, if you want to save a little money. Any excuse to drive.

tbh I've thought about asking, but I'd feel weird just asking for a ride to work. Driving downtown isn't going to let you really enjoy your car. 😛

Due to lack of car, it costs me $30 just to get to/from the theater.

Holy shit. Even if I UberX to the furthest cinema in Toronto it won't be $15 each way.

I pay $15 to work every day, then $6 for the last leg home.

This new position with work really needs to kick in fully soon because it's the only way I'll be able to save up for a car.

@auspice Oooh! Ooh! Moviepass! See if the service is available in your theatres. 8 bucks a month gets you what looks like a debit card - is a debit card - and you can see 3 movies a month. Shit you not. We've had it for a couple months now and have seen a bunch of movie that otherwise could not have seen. You just can't see movies twice, and you are supposedly going to start having to snap a picture of your stubs. Takes about a week, jsut a little over, for you to get a card. Oor 10 bucks gets you 'One movie a day". I have to wait another month before I can upgrade to the once a day.

Their steady stock loss and other financial problems concern me, though. I'm afraid if I sign up now, it won't last very long.

It would save me money tho. Due to lack of car, it costs me $30 just to get to/from the theater.

Yeah. I'm thinking I'll set some of it aside and make a day out of seeing Incredibles 2 and the new Jurassic World in a few weeks.

Last week: "Once you're on the new project full-time, you'll need to move desks to the other room downstairs."

      OK, cool.

Today: "You haven't been working the shifts on the new project in the other room. Remember, you have to work out of that room."

I called him out on it and pointed out he told me once I transition completely. My guess is he got fussed at over it and is now passing the buck off. No, just own up, say 'Hey I gave you the wrong information and I apologize.' not try to make it look like my fault.

But then this is the guy who fucked up getting me paid my OT (which will be on next week's check, thankfully).

@arkandel original karate kid was in his twenties.

It's true. He was 22. Apparently no one believed him (it's hard to imagine that he is over 20 if you rewatch the movie).

Kid was literally learning Kung Fu. And then beating up kids who trained their whole lives through the magic of 'My Dad is famous and so I get movie roles.'

On the bright side Will Smith is one of Cobra Kai's producers, and the series wouldn't have been possible without him. So whatever. Kung Fu Kid it is!

The theory is he's a producer on it because they're making a sequel to his son's Karate Kid due next year.

      Goddamnit, Ohio.

Ohio never bothered me much. Seattle didn't.

I break out in hives when I go outside here in Austin this spring (no issues summer/fall).

I think my body missed the 'where allergies happen' memo.

Also, I don't think a "vocal few" people who want the board to be made out of rainbows should have a greater voice than the "vocal few" who appreciate having a place to call a spade a flaming piece of cunty spades.

Listen, I don't know if there's something specifically wrong with your genital area (there are all sorts of antibiotics these days, best of luck) but how about not using the word cunt/cunty as an acceptable mud-slinging insult when that's actually precisely the sort of shit that will get you slain in the Hogpit.

The thing about the word cunt though, is it is used much more in the the UK than it is North America. About as interchangeably as bitch is here. I mean it's in their daytime soaps. So it actually is an acceptable mud-slinging insult in some places. Language is different all over the world. Are we supposed to stick u's in everything because @Arkandel is in Canada, and @Ganymede is from Canada, so 2/3 of the mod team dictates the rules of word usage? (I mean it's not a problem for me, I usually only remove my u's from poses and not where I post online, but I can try!)

I may be a terrible dirty American, but I actually stick u's in myself. >.>
