...awkward thought: my most recent PoC PB has blue/grey/green eyes (depends on the photo; she's Jamaican/Irish). But, uh. That doesn't make her a generic white girl last I checked?

See this is where I'm like: <throws hands in the air> . o O ( ...is this something I should be ashamed about that offended someone? )

I used Nicole Lyn on 8th Sea who is Jamaican/Chinese, but prob looks white at first glance. I find her absolutely gorgeous partly because of her eyes (they're like, this amazing hazel and paired with her dark, curly hair is just- nngh). But I think she's a good example of 'probably got assumed white' 😕

tbh, I often play chars with blue or green eyes because I got made fun of/mocked/insulted so much in childhood for having brown eyes.

Are brown eyes the most common? Yes. I don't know why I got made fun of so much for it, but it was on the list of things I got bullied for.

So part of my fantasy/escapism play is getting to pretend I don't have brown eyes. #sorrynotsorry

I pick PBs largely at random and have played people across the board.

      But I'mma be honest:
Almost every time I've seen someone brag about using non-white PBs, it has given me uncomfortable fetishism vibes.

Make the character. Pick a PB to fit who you're playing. Don't force something to fit a PB (esp. if it comes out a stereotype) and then brag about it. Please.

Just a reminder that Avatar: The Last Airbender is on Netflix now and god it's such a comfort show.

      same with Dragon Prince.
Hell, even more with Dragon Prince.

Same creators as Avatar, but without the limitations. It has so so much representation in it that it fills me with joy every time I watch it.

    • The Network

The Network is an episodic multi-themed game with an underlying meta plot set in an alternate universe modern day world where The Network, a massive multimedia conglomerate provides only the finest quality programming to audiences around the globe and beyond.

You do not know who you were before you signed your contract with The Network. All you know is that you signed over your past life, your memories, the experiences that made you who you are for a set period of time during which you have agreed to perform as an actor in whichever programs The Network deems a best fit for you. You have been relocated to a closed, secure community, where you reside with other actors all going through the same shared experience. You are given everything you need for a comfortable life within the dome and are guaranteed a very generous sum of money for your tenure as an employee of The Network. Of course, you were not entirely informed of what that entails, exactly.

Characters on The Network create an actor who lives within this secure community who, each new season, is completely and wholly immersed in the life and personality of a character within that season's show. One season, they may find themselves in Valhalla fighting to prevent Ragnarök. Another season, they may find themselves as a conservationist working in an undersea laboratory. Each season is a new story (or a return to a popular season if the players vote to bring one back for another round) with new goals and new adventures.

Only on returning to the dome after each season, do they regain the cumulative memory of themselves as an actor, and each season that they experienced. There, they try to make sense of the ever-growing number of lives that they accumulate.

The Network is now in Open Beta and we welcome new players to join us.

There's supposed to be another round of stimulus checks coming sometime in June. I dunno about your state but mine will be continuing the $600 stimulus money added to your unemployment, until the end of July.

I hadn't heard about the other round of checks. That's going straight into savings.

I do know that they're continuing the $600 until the end of July. My anxiety is just sitting here looking at the whopping 8 new job apps I was able to send out this week and is going into a tailspin of 'you're not gonna find anything by August. The stimulus is gonna end and you'll be fucked.'

Because we know anxiety likes to do this.

I'm one of those people who makes 'more' on the unemployment stimulus than I did at my previous job. Not a lot more, just a bit. Like, it's not in the realm of 'I don't want a job again' but more 'I can keep afloat and pay off some debt' (or more realistically I was able to afford the emergency vet bill I had last weekend).

But with it set to end in two months and me scraping the barrel for jobs to apply to in not just one but two cities (because I'm at a point of figuring well...if I can't find a job here, I might as well look elsewhere as well, right?), I'm starting to stress out. Without the 'bonus', my unemployment covers....about two-thirds of what I need. Basically 'I can either keep my apartment or my car'.

I desperately hope they extend it because businesses are not going to be back up to full employment by the end of July. And the twisting sensation in my stomach when I look at my finances sucks.

      I'd also need more information.

      What is the site?
      How is it introducing people?
Is it specifically for MUSH? Would it include MOO? MUD?
Would it have tutorials or just be a game listing like mudconnect?
Would it be pay-to-list? Or just pay-to-advertise? (Because paying to support adspace and then also paying to have your game listed would be kinda ehhh)

Bands are doing live stream concerts. In some cases, this is pretty great! Dropkick Murphys are doing a free one tonight (6pm EST, FYI).

Some bands are doing paid livestreams and this isn't bad either.... except for the price point. I get that smaller bands need the money, but they're charging what they would at a venue. $20+ for a livestream concert just isn't something I'd pay, sorry. Part of why I go to concerts is the experience. I'd pay $5, even $10 for a band I'm really into. Anything over that? It's too much for a livestream.

I'm sure part of the justification is 'well if there's multiple people in the household' but during covid, that's not highly likely. I'm not gonna have a viewing party. And you aren't gonna have a lot of situations where an entire family is into the same indie band.

If they charged just $5, for example, I'd also have an easier time convincing friends to check them out. 'Hey this band I really like is doing a concert, it's only $5-' is a lot easier of a sell than 'This band I really like is doing a concert, but it's $20'

I have a feeling that's why they haven't really been advertising antibody tests for the time being because there are tests out there but are currently unreliable.

      This. 😞

If I were getting an antibody test, I'd be pestering the lab to find out the origins of it so I could see if it's one of the ones the FDA greenlit. There's a lot out there that had no go ahead from the FDA and little to no testing.
I understand the desire to have more/better testing, but..... unreliable tests only hurt us.
