Nah, still works.

Thanks, guys. Once I know more about the anthology itself (it's all Transhuman stories, so I think some of y'all might be into it!), I'll pass the details on.
'Thank you so much for considering Gehenna & Hinnom for your story, "Tempest." We would love to have this fascinating tale in our anthology! I am attaching the release form for the story.'
It took me about 15 minutes to actually open the email; I was so terrified it was gonna be a rejection.
Literally crying right now. Needed some good news today so bad.
Holy shit, guys. They're gonna pay me for my story. I don't gotta put 'aspiring' before 'author' anymore.
The initial 'Woo, yeah, move!' is wearing off and/or I'm having one of those weeks where my meds just aren't quite good enough.
Gotta love chemical depression.
All I wanna do is curl up in a corner of the closet under a blanket.
I did it. I made it through Part 1 of the Television Writing class... and I got the final grade in today. 96. I actually made it through a lot better than I expected. I fully and completely expected to get my first C.
I get a couple months of fresh air (the class starting this week is about children's books and the following class is sci-fi/fantasy), then we take our TV show outline/treatment and spend a month developing/reworking/hammering/sobbing over it until it's a legit script.
...and then it'll never see the light of day because next season is New Girl's last. Not that I want to go into the TV writing biz anyway.
An example of a good Christian school: Spartanburg Methodist. It's a two-year college near my parents. They offer free degrees (just associate's, obvs., but it's a good way to get your general ed stuff) to anyone who lives in the county. All students have to pay is for their textbooks and dorm if they want to live on campus. Tuition is entirely free. Everything else is paid for by donations.
But I've generally found that of the denominations, Methodists tend to be the more chill.
I don't rewatch stuff often (I have a really good memory for stuff I've watched and read, so I can get really bored with it), but I've been considering re-watching Malcolm in the Middle because Bryan Cranston and I'm not ready for the emotional roller coaster of re-watching Breaking Bad.
Plus, I need something I can watch while I'm on my exercise bike and MitM would be enjoyable enough.
Does everyone get random Iraqi dudes trying to friend them on FB? Like is that the norm?
Not me. Maybe for women?
I know a lot of women down here who get friend requests from Iraqis, Algerians, Saudi Arabians, etc. a lot; but then there's also the Europeans, too. It can get crazy.
So maybe it's being female that does it. 'Cause it's mostly Iraqi, but there's been other Middle Eastern profiles, too. Really frequently. o.O

Ugh. We lived close to where the DC snipers were killing people. I felt so scared every time I put my boys, ages 5 and 6 at the time, on the school bus and didn't stop until they came home safe every day.
I worked and sometimes walked to/from near one of the locations someone was killed.
For us locals, it was def. a big deal. But I understood (and still would) why people in, say, Cali didn't wanna keep hearing about it.
@WTFE Social media has, honestly, ruined people in so many ways.
Shootings are an example of this. And call me an asshole for that if you want.
In 2002, two men killed 10 people in the DC area. It ended up, over the three weeks, a rather frequent topic on national television. If it happened today, I know it'd be constant on social media. Non-stop. It'd be all anyone talked about and no one would bat an eye about it.
At the time, however, I had a few people on MU*s that knew I lived local bitch at me about how sick they were of their news covering an event that wasn't local to them.
Something major, violent, and rather terrifying to local people. Again, nowadays, those same people would probably be dogpiling on anyone in such an area with sympathy and well-wishes, and 'OH MY GOD I'M SO SCARED FOR YOU' but at the time it was 'ugh I'm three thousand miles away why do I have to hear about this.'
I didn't know about the flooding in Assam and Bihar. But I also give no fucks if you keep up with what's happening here. You've got your own politics, weather, etc etc to follow.
Went out to my car to go to work today. Apparently the neighbor (has one of those super lifted up trucks) backed into my car and fucked the hood up. Now the son of a bitch won't even answer the door. I am considering calling the cops and reporting a hit and run shortly.
You should.
Phone call from my mother to check on me turned into her ranting about my brother. Of my four siblings, he's doing the best for himself. Sure, he still lives at home (he's 21), but he's had the same job for three years, he's always got a few grand in his account, he always pays them a few hundred dollars a month (without complaint, right at the start of the month), and whenever they need help financially, he's right there to do so.
But he spends money on video games! And video game paraphernalia!
My other three siblings are messes in their own ways. And absolutely terrible with money. But he buys figurines.
I know it just boils down to the fact that they're upset that 4 of their 5 kids aren't 'right.' They have three sons and all three hate sports, are useless with cars, and one is gay while the other two have never been brave enough to ask a girl out.
My sister, the 'pride and joy,' can steal money from them, but have it waved off because she's 'such a good Christian girl.'
But it just grates on me how often my mom complains about my one brother. More than the rest, despite how he's, comparatively, fucking up less than all the rest of us. I'd love to see him get his own place, sure. I agree with her on that front. But he's a damn good kid and he has one fucking hobby that isn't even an abnormal one these days.
Totally miss playing with you on 5W! Roger was bestdad.

This is why we have check-in/walk-through lists for new apartments, I guess.
Air-con isn't working right. It's on, set to something like 68-ish or whatever.... but still reading at 80 and humid and sticky and gross. Curse it all! I was looking forward to blessed AC!
It was thoroughly devoured.
Mostly I'm just thrilled to be able to get sweet tea again. Esp. since I no longer drink soda anymore. That was a big struggle on the drive. You do a long drive, you eat fast food. Fast food places largely just have soda.
ANYWAY. Yes! I am settled. Much much thanks to @Admiral and his roommate for helping unload. After loading the truck and driving all those days, I was still pretty noodly. Plus, because of them, we got it done pretty much just as it began raining.
