The last time I sat down and tried to puzzle out a good way to do it, I got a headache.

      @WTFE

And that's sort of the issue I have with it. Every game I've been in has been that way. Either a player (or players) knew it well enough to break it to that extent without helping everyone else, thus making it unfun for the rest of us who just sort of sit back going 'oh, well, I'm useless' or the GM is asking for rolls in stats we never knew we needed to begin with. And again, 'poor GM,' but at the same time... A good system never runs into that issue to begin with.

I mean, for fuck's sake, when I'm having to try to make all of my own shit up and the GM is trying to do the same thing, and Jim is off in the corner and he's been in twenty games already and knows how to hack this shit so he can counteract anything that'll be thrown at us...

      Yeah no.

Anyway, we digress. This is for a whole other thread, or likely an entirely other board since no game uses this garbage anyway.

I have never enjoyed a GURPS game I have played. I've had diehard fans of the system insist it's 'just bad GMs' or whatever, but I still blame the system. I think it's far too rules-heavy and clunky than any system has any need to ever, ever be.

And this from someone who finds the HERO system to be downright amusing and fun to build characters in sometimes.

School keeps me too busy for much recreational reading, sadly. I haven't finished the first book yet, but I plan to work through them. Amos is awesome. Absolutely love Chrisjen tho.

I finally began watching The Expanse.

      And just outright binging it.
Oh god I love this and everything about it and want all of it forever and ever.
This is the best sci-fi I have seen in a very long time. It's so good.

Companies that interview you and then fill the position internally.

Assholes, I wore heels for that.

Did they tell you when they hired? So many companies I apply for don't even offer that.

Mind you, I only have to wear ties.

Ties & Jackets > Bras & Heels. I don't know how women handle it.

By not being little bitches, mostly.

I'm one of those who has to wear a bra to avoid back pain. Also boob sweat. Like I can't just wear pajamas around the house. I am wearing pajamas while I work today... but also a bra. Because if I didn't, my shoulders and back would hurt way too much. Like yes, before bed, taking it off is glorious because my ribs feel better for lack of pressure... but not wearing it causes so much back pain.

      So it's a trade-off.

If I had the money, I'd consider reduction surgery, for sure.

As for wearing flats, well, I had a pair and they disappeared during the move somewhere. I gotta buy new ones. 😕 I don't own a lot of shoes. I have a pair of heels. (Had) a pair of flats. My day-to-day Vans. My sneakers. My boots. Flip flops.

(Just kidding. Sorry to hear that. Wish I could feed you bourbon.)

      I wore a pencil skirt. 😞

Just that it was filled internally.
And dude, I wish I could just wear men's attire. Worse yet is that I can't even do the men's suit some andro ladies can because my chest is too big. I'm so damn jealous of those that can.

Thanks. I don't want to explicitly steal how someone else has theirs done, but with permission I may very well use yours as a base framework to launch from.

I'm really not sure I understand what you're looking for. Are you talking about the way in which they are stored on the server? Are you building your own wiki that isn't MediaWiki or WikiDot?

      No, I mean more like...

I have an idea of what policy or theme files I need, but maybe not all and what organizational structure they should go in.

    • Wiki File Structure

I need someone who can take a list of files and design a structure on a wiki for them. I don't need content. I don't need visual design. I just need someone who can design the underlying structure. There's no rush, either. I'm just really bad at designing logical structure for wikis... like really bad. I can do everything else (content, code, etc.), but it's the structure I'm garbage at.

This is not an ongoing gig. This is not a staff position. It's just a 'I'll add you as an admin, give you a list, work on it whenever you feel like' deal. I'll pull the admin rights when you're done because, again... It's not an ongoing thing and I don't wanna cause a too many cooks situation down the road for myself.

This is for the Magicians thing. Yes, that still is being worked on. Obvs the move and school put it on hold from time to time, but it's still in my head and The Notebook still gets notes jotted down as they come to me. 🙂

Hey guys, this cycle's idle list went up.

These folks are at risk of idling out. Come back soon, or at least let Faraday know what you'd want done with your char if you don't have a last will set:
      Asha
      Bami
      Dundonnell
      Gwyndolen
      Kymoto
      Leonie

    • RE: RL things I love

Interview scheduled on Tuesday (a week after I sent my resume in).

Fingers crossed! Pay scale is better than what I'm making now. If benefits are better (which wouldn't be hard at all), I'll ditch my current gig in a heartbeat.

Reviews of the company on Glassdoor seem to be... well, about similar to what I'm dealing with now / in line with the industry overall. So for me, it's a: 'don't look at it long-term, but as a stepping stone to at least improve your current situation.'

Ordered a TV stand. Inexpensive one, but still better than the rubbermaid bin I've been using since I moved in.

@Auspice The best powersets for TV are ones like Black Bolt or the Flash... extremely easy for SFX to recreate without a lot of money.

That's conversely why vampire shows (fang prosthetics + red contacts) are so much more popular than werewolves (a shit-ton of more FX).

I know, I just have a soft spot for elementalists. So I wanna see more of Crystal's abilities, damnit. 😄

I really dig how they approached Karnak and his probability stuff. Honestly, show-wise, just from those two episodes, he is my favorite. I mean, I love Ken Leung to begin with, but Karnak is great.

Everyone harps on Medusa's hair, but frankly, we have survived worse special effects in the past, and we will survive worse special effects in the future, and the consistent and constant focus on this has made it so that I don't even CARE.

Pretty much this. Plus, we all know how fucking hard it is to animate hair to begin with, so FUCKING DEAL PEOPLE.

Medusa herself is pretty damn bad-ass. I was hoping to see more of Crystal's abilities, peeeersonally. 😉

ETA: I mean, Pixar/Disney, the best SFX houses on the planet, have only just pulled off animating hair (see: Moana) in a way that got true praise. So cut ABC a break.

I know the reviews so far aren't great, but I honestly enjoyed Inhumans (decided to give the IMAX showing of the first two episodes a go 'cause I needed to get out of the house this week). Ken Leung as Karnak is amazing and Anson Mount's facial expressions are absolutely stellar.
