Fortunately the air index is down to 68 today and tomorrow it's due to be back in the green at 46 (phew!).
I plan to use my free movie ticket on Sunday. I just... gotta decide what on. Spiderman, Atomic Blonde, or Dark Tower?!

The question arises in my mind, tho: Who is going to become YouTube?
Twitch.
...as Microsoft tries to become the new Twitch (not joking: MS is trying to weave in 'streaming' options to Windows and XBox. So enjoy that in the next six months, folks!).

With the struggles Netflix has had this year
Major content providers making their own splinter content-viewing systems, shooting themselves in the foot but at least they're also shooting the competition in the foot, right?
Netflix/Hulu were doing good for the industry. They were buying the content from the major networks, so those networks were still getting the money, then Netflix/Hulu were getting money from their subscribers (and Hulu was getting advertiser money on top of things). One of my textbooks right now goes into detail on it. Like they were competition in a positive way. They were encouraging the networks to do better.
...and then the networks went 'lets just start doing our own streaming, guys!' and started taking it all away. Like they do. I mean we have Disney announcing their plans for their own paid sub service by 2019, now, after their awesome deal with Netflix.
I had to watch a show for class this month and tried using Fox's service (using my mother's DirecTV login) and I ended up subscribing to Hulu because Fox's service is absolute garbage. It would reset back to the beginning, commercials and all, every 2-5 minutes. If it buffered at all.
But at least that show in particular was still on Hulu.
So yeah, there was this bubble of awesome time for Netflix at least and then the networks saw Netflix (and Amazon to an extent) getting money, accolades at awards shows, etc... they panicked, and now we're probably gonna see a few years of bullshit as they panic and overreact.

They do have hints of plot in the blurbs, so those of you who are super spoiler-avoidant may not want to click through.
I already know I am gonna cry at every scene with Carrie Fisher, y'all. I don't care what the scene is, I'm gonna be a mess.
Good news and good news!
Last night I did some rough math and have about $100 of wiggle room during the move itself. Between the cost of the truck, the stuff I need (for the cat, the snacks/drinks I'm buying ahead of time to limit food stops, etc.), gas, the one motel night... I over-estimate costs, so hopefully it'll be more. But right now? $100. That's a buffer. That's still enough to get groceries. And I get paid the following week. And my first month's rent is low, due to the move-in deal.
So it's not bad, but it's def. in the range of 'hopefully I have no emergencies' and 'thank god someone got me a AAA membership'
But!
I was changing my address on my secured credit card and found out they upped my credit line! Now I tend to treat this thing as a 'forget it exists.' The line has been low because shite credit and all and during this whole 'moving' deal it's been needing to use it for things like doctor visits and meds (which I have a lot of and are expensive) and I've been unable to pay off the full amount each month. So in the back of my head it was 'last desperate resort so long as it's a cheap emergency'
But! Now I've got a bit more available there. Still not a lot (because secured credit), but more. I'm gonna use some to get a haircut this weekend. I count that as important because my hair contributes to my headaches/migraines, which is sort of an important thing to consider when driving 8-10 hours a day.

Now I'm curious if anybody else had a cat that randomly licks plastic bags. Our wee insane Siamese did that, and we would just hear the quiet, raspy rattle of plastic for twenty minute stretches or so, and for some reason it was oddly creepy. We'd try to call her over to make it stop, but then she'd just look at us with Innocent Face<tm>, and then go right back to licking the plastic bag.
That cat's Innocent Face<tm> was simply never to be believed.
One of my favorite YT cat video channels did a video about their cat and plastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDRLATymNV4
IIRC I saw something about it once. The cats that do it like the sound.
Re: cats and socks, I have a friend in Ohio whose cat steals balled up socks. They're her babies. She carries them around and cries over them. >.>

This is me with Oxy.
Same. Rarely, rarely, percocet will get me into 'sit and stare at the wall in a daze' but not generally.
Ambien used to work, doesn't anymore. Trazodone doesn't work night-of, but leaves me feeling drugged the next day.
I hate my body's resistance.
There is a pet thread around that I made. Somewhere. >.>
Mine just climbs up onto my desk, puts paws on my shoulder, and shoves her face into my face. XD
Does your cat sit in super cute poses at the door?
Mine is also shoulder trained!
Tho she prefers my lap, at all times, if possible.
She may not collect socks, but she is a string fiend.
She keeps me company when I game.
Tho she sometimes gets in the way.
But lookit that smile:
And those eyes:
And she is a pro at the bear trap:
...okay, enough crazy cat lady from me. >.>
I love my cat.
Like she is the best cat.
The coolest most awesome cat to ever fucking cat.
I mean sometimes she's a butthead, but I love her. So does everyone else that knows her. I mean seriously, how many cats receive gifts from other people? (My friend gave her one of those cat water fountains a few months ago. ...I'd say she refuses to drink from anything else, but she learned how to turn on the kitchen sink last week.)

@Auspice I saw this last night and had just already assumed it had been renewed ages ago.
With the struggles Netflix has had this year, I'm guessing they're having to hold off a bit longer now on their renewals.
I am sort of baffled by the stuff I hear re: klonopin.
I had a doctor try me on it once and it might as well have been a sugar pill. I had absolutely no response to it. But other people talk about it like @Aria. Like it hits them super hard.
And with having to have windows open due to the no AC... Quite probably.
My hair isn't helping since it's reached 'hello I weigh a lot and I'm going to put a lot of pressure on your head' length, but a hair cut isn't in the pre-move budget.

@Auspice See? Moody.
Psh. I'll stop missing you, then. Ungrateful wretch.
@Tinuviel said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:
@Auspice Disagree.
You don't even talk to me!
Here's some of the sarahah's I received. Like I said, only got one negative. In addition to these, I got some flirty ones and a flattering one where someone said my passion for my writing had inspired them to take their own art up again.

Trokendi
Do you find yourself moody? I think that's the stuff that made my sister cry at EVERYTHING.
I don't think so, no.
I've been getting my cat used to her harness and a leash so that during the drive to Austin, when I stop to stretch my legs - she can, too. She is so angry the entire time she's going into the harness, but as soon as we get outside, she thinks everything is the best ever.
Also: 2nd migraine in as many days this week setting in. Joy.
FYI: Netflix renewed Glow: http://deadline.com/2017/08/glow-renewed-netflix-season-2-1202146838/
@Gingerlily said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:
What migraine meds did they change you to? Preventative or acute or both?
I somehow forgot this thread was a thing so forgive me for asking a question related to something you said a month ago
I am on the generic of Trokendi for a preventative. And then when it stopped working completely, we added maxalt for when migraines do hit. Which is sort of so-so.
