      @Luna

It has been like this for a good three years now. My wife and I have tried several things, not to mention taking up odd jobs (mostly as an adjunct professor at the local community college) to not only help ends meet but to just boost my own self-esteem. Wife working at the moment isn't feasible as she is practically a stay at home mom but eventually she'd like to get back into editing and publishing (her previous work before we moved out here and got knocked up). There isn't a lot of that here where we live, though she essentially runs freelance stuff on the side.

In the meantime, while I wait for my transfer, I've put in some resumes, particularly with one position here in town which is like our last ditch effort to make a home here. If it doesn't work then we are waiting on the transfer. If it does work then in the very least I can kind of tell my employer to go fuck himself because obviously he didn't find me of value to begin with.

It isn't the fact of where I am that is so bad as much as it is my colleagues telling me to be satisfied. I think if they were in my shoes they'd see it differently.

@Insomnia She speaks the truth. Gel is super legit like that.

Rough day. No one specific thing, just in general. Very tired and worn out. I'm pretty tired of fighting my own battles, dealing with the shit people start with me, being told I'm just a vile bitch, being fucked with, toyed with, confused, fighting other people's battles, and being dead last on everyone's priority list. I'm so thankful my best friend has a tolerant husband. She has a husband, three kids, a house that got flooded and she still makes time for me. Why can't anyone else?

It's only Tuesday and I'm already throwing a sweet pity party.

I am with you on this one.

I won't go into the details of my work but I feel pretty dissatisfied with the locale I'm in. It is just stagnant and not to mention that the higher ups are incompetent. Waiting on a transfer to another city sucks ass. Not to mention that my colleagues, most of whom have better positions, pay, etc. are all telling me I should be satisfied. What the hell?

I third the USAA. I use USAA as my bank as well as for home owners insurance, car insurance, and I have a Roth IRA through them. Do it.

... or something. Texas state officials are still trying to figure out if they can refuse to provide licenses to same sex couples. They probably will because they can. Sometimes I love my state, and then sometimes I wish our politicians would burst into flames.

If it's your damn job to issue marriage licenses and everything is legal and in line, issue the fucking license.

I don't know. I am thinking that we should probably privatize marriage completely. Then whoever, whatever, wherever would be able to define marriage as they see fit.

Doubleposting: And the news from Greek financial crisis as well as the recent court decision spawning right-wing Christians to think that it is the end of the world according to Revelations. Gee! It would have been so much simpler if the Romans just legalized same sex marriages thus ushering in the eschaton 2000 years early!

(Nota Bene: I am not picking on conservatives or Christians, as I am myself a theist as well as a right-leaning libertarian. Just tired of people who nitpick scripture and get their understanding of a 1-2nd century document written in a Hellenistic world from Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins).

I have been watching Ascension with the wife on Netflix. Sad that it was cancelled after one season. I kind of wish though that the whole generation ship thing wasn't a giant petri dish in the end.

A generation ship would be a great idea for a MU*….

Well one Twitter user said it best: I think they are just butthurt over the fact that GRRM let Benioff and Weiss know about something that is to happen in Winds of Winter and didn't keep ol' Bal and Nym
      In the loop.

Here is a thought: finish a series before getting involved with HBO to create a television serial about the books. Voila! No spoiler fits. No triggering. No Ann Coulter moments.

@Three-Eyed-Crow I got to the app process because my friend was there and the staffer I was talking to was really willing to help. I liked whomever it was. Forget the name now, though. I don't recall getting much from the other players but I could be wrong.

There are some helpful people on BoD. Missandei/Katla/Erena is a sweetheart. And I enjoyed roleplaying with Luthor (though his player isn't that active from what I can tell). The rest are sour and jaded old bitches or nerds from Elendor days of yore who are full of themselves..

The information we have provides a few points on the roadmap. They haven't prevented us from doing major plot events, including the sacking of castles, outbreaks of private war, murders, etc. that are entirely invented by our players and staff.

I think it's much like any game that sets itself within a historical milieu (invented or otherwise), where the point isn't alternate history but playing in and with notable events... with the added bonus for players that sometime it's not clear to them if events that are happening are "just" created plots or actual "setting history" GRRM provided to us for use on the game which has not been otherwise published.

Alas, no more dragons in our time period, though.

In other words, when you play here on this game you are participating in something akin to a Nativity pageant. Follow the script, Lord help you. Perhaps GRRM will give you all more material to work with while he stalls writing Winds of Winter.

And if tonight's HBO episode is any indication of the future, seems like HBO will finish the story before he will.

I am just wondering what people do on that game, besides tourneys and general social stuff, since they want to 'adhere to the special canon info' they were given.

I mean, I guess that's cool but that stuff being the only real constant sounds real boring. I'm being entirely serious.

That's all you can do on this game, really. They made several mistakes when creating this, IMHO. The biggest is going chronologically and limiting it to 1:1 time. Yes that's right. You heard me. Twenty-four hours on this game is twenty-four hours in real life. Baelor's reign is ten years. So they are going to go through with ten years of this. Not a lot happened during his reign and while Westeros was somewhat stable, the man attempted to turn it into a Puritanical dream. Doesn't seem very fun.

So you have Tourney MUSH. Currently the big thing going on right now is a wedding at Storm's End. Another wedding. More dances. More feasts. And another tourney. Wow.

So you have ten fucking years of this:

I've concluded, again, that Blood of Dragons is not the place for me. I was just looking at the 'application' process once again and it hasn't changed. I don't know why previous mu* experience is important. Someone who has never mued before could be a fabulous RPer (I've met a couple new people to muing). Also? Restricted chars need logs from previous scenes elsemu*.

Playing on BoD must be more like a job over pretendy fun time.

If one wants to make sure a char ends up suitable for going on a roster/in a character database? why not get the person IC then as time goes on /gently/ suggest background and the likes be modified because a person can realize the char is different than he or she intially thought they would be. Characters generally get WAY better when a person has played them for even a short time.

Going through Balerion's character generation is like filling out Form 1040 with the US Internal Revenue Service. Unfortunately, there's no chance of receiving a return.

      @il-volpe

I'd do it. And I have my ideas and would not mind being a theme administrator. And I would definitely set it in something other than Baelor's reign. Perhaps even before the Targaryens. (I was thinking of setting it in the Vale or the Reach before the Conquest, either at the Eyrie or Highgarden. More political fighting with other kingdoms, alliances overseas, and the like. NO VALYRIAN SPESCHUL TARGARYENS)

Unfortunately, I have no coding experience whatsoever. Also, I am not a perpetual student living off the Royal Swedish financial tit (as well as the sales from a World Book) to put in that amount of time.

Then again, that point might be moot. To be completely honest, while skulking about electronically, I notice that Blood of Dragons has very little activity going on. And this is for any time of the day. Granted, people might be assembled in rooms and things like that but are they actually doing any roleplay? Are they actually engaged? Observe the idle times:

And what other plots are going on that don't involve speschul features that can only be played by Nymeria and Balerion? Also, what about the numbers? I count at least several PCs that are Balerion's alone...

Is it the fear that someone else may profit from Game of Thrones crap like you and Nymeria have? I know your wife is probably triggering right now, but when you start banning IPs and calling people names, it doesn't really defend your position very well.

@Rook I think everyone here would agree that game owners have a right to decide what they are comfortable with in regards to promotion of other games. As we've stated before, we know GRRM's feelings on the matter from statements he has made, we feel that those who disregard his feelings are disrespectful, and we have no interest in supporting, promoting, or being associated with such projects.

Balerion, you are starting to speak like the Pope when he says what God thinks or feels. I personally think that GRRM is too busy to give a fuck. Produce a legal document indicating this, in very least one that has been signed by GRRM and then signed by a notary public (or whatever the fuck you have in Sweden).

It doesn't seem to stop other people from creating Westerosi themed MU*s. Hell, now I want to make one just to spite you. Nonetheless, your threats aren't stopping people making games, not to mention the Crusader Kings Westeros MOD team use your character database when constructing their dynasty trees.
